Release version
Subnautica: Below Zero on mobile is a technical marvel. It manages to translate the deep, atmospheric survival experience of the PC original to a touch screen without losing any of the tension. The underwater biomes are absolutely breathtaking—the way the light filters through the ice into the deep blue water is something you have to see to believe. It captures that unique Subnautica mix of wonder and absolute terror when a massive Shadow Leviathan suddenly looms out of the darkness.
The mobile controls have been thoughtfully implemented, with the virtual joystick and action buttons feeling responsive enough for the precise movement needed in narrow caves. The crafting system is deep but manageable, and the 'Seatruck' vehicle is a brilliant addition that lets you carry a piece of your base with you as you explore. It’s a massive game with a genuine mystery at its heart, and the survival mechanics (especially managing your body temperature on the frozen surface) add a new layer of strategy that keeps the gameplay fresh. It’s an absolute must-play for survival fans.
Full open-world survival experience
Detailed base-building system
New vehicles and biomes
Stunning underwater visuals and sound
On the surface, look for 'Thermal Lilies.' Standing near them will rapidly restore your body heat during a blizzard.
Gather raw materials like titanium and quartz to build tools and bases. Scan wreckage to unlock new blueprints for advanced technology.
Yes, Creative Mode allows you to explore and build without worrying about health or resources.
I will admit it can get confusing trying to find things at first but it does start to make more sense as you get used to searching. I’d highly recommend using beacons to mark hard to get to locations. The only thing I’m still confused over is the fact that there’s no multiplayer when it was implied before release that there would be. Otherwise it has been an absolute delight to play. The customization option for your gameplay is great since it makes more accessible to players who struggle with certain challenges like oxygen but still want hunger and thirst challenges for example.
I love it! I really really like adventure! I have a question; when is Subnautica 2 launching on mobile? When?! WHEN!?! I’m a mobile player. Psst, I found console commands:)
I love this game, I have it on switch 2 and decided to get it on mobile because it does not run well on switch 2 and it deleted all my progress. So far the game is running at a sorta smooth 30 fps because 60 fps kills my battery life. But my only downside is the graphics settings keeping me at medium mode because textures look unloaded and the environment looks blurry. I use my iPad that is 2 down from the newest generation.
When it comes to Subnautica and Subnautica: below zero, even Subnautica 2 on Xbox —- I feel this game sets a new standard for play in this specific genre. Thanks to Unknown worlds for a great experience. :)
It’s a good mobile and I’d recommend playing it with a controller. Hopefully we get to see Subnautica 2 on iOS in the near future.
As soon as you add in full stylus support, and it works, I will give this game five stars. Until then, my disability in my hands leaves me in too much pain to leave more than one star.
I’m gonna be honest. The Og Subnautica was really good. Haven’t had the chance to play this yet but I just know it’s gonna be fun to play
I love it, it’s a very good game, the story it’s a little bit strange, but a love it, obviously recommend
