Great graphics, movement, lights, and the audio from the shows and movies are very fun! Some tables are way too hard and makes one loose interest. Some are great and have enough rewards to stay engaged but overall still play too fast. They may be realistic in the way they play, but so much are unnecessary difficult. Also it needs much more explanation in how to take advantage of each award, trigger, attack, moment and reward. I never know what I’m supposed to shoot at to defeat the challenge. Still I love playing!
Man this game has potential, too bad some basics really kill it. Love pinball far more than regular video games. Consistency through familiarity to how a board responds is key. The physics of Star Wars pinball are like nothing in the known universe. Hyperbole aside, it does make it super frustrating when the skill in pinball is founded almost entirely on ones ability to control the ball and make accurate shots to navigate the story modes. Any progress feels entirely based on chance and the probabilities of finishing one are incredibly difficult let alone completing multiple. In fact, as soon as you make any headway, the only thing guaranteed is an impossible ricochet into the Death Star like tractor beams of the gutters on each board. Which brings me to the gutters. They are truly sarlac pits, swallowing anything remotely in their vicinity. If I had a nickel for every small tap on the flipper that yielded an improbable bounce clear across the other side and inexorably into the gutter, I could partially fund the next Star Wars installment. The frustration is compounded because the boards are beautifully designed and the progress seems to yield some cool content, but good luck getting there. Again, because there is little control to the flipper sensitivity, it feels like this is driven by a probability metric which is dialed to "snowball's chance in hell". What a shame to develop interesting content that a player will never experience.
So this game is super clean on function and gives a great feel like you’re almost playing real pinball. I love the sounds, the music, and “feel” the game gives. What I love the most is that in this day and age of ads everywhere there’s no ads. In an age of subscriptions being the cash grab everyone does, these guys don’t. You purchase the game and you have it, I cannot praise them enough for this business practice. I’ve bought the Solo, Vader, and Fett tables and enjoy them immensely. My only gripe so far is that the Boba Fett table seems to have a bug where a unclickable check mark stays on the screen the whole time. If it wasn’t blocking vision of the table I wouldn’t mind but unfortunately it blocks a section of the middle/upper right side. If they could fix this or it get resolved then seriously 5* no gripes.
I see a lot of comments about malfunctioning flippers. They seem to be working fine for me. Had the game three or four days now and it works well. The default table is really stupid and each additional table is another $1.99. So far Darth Vader is my favorite but Boba Fett looks promising. One flaw with it is the way table nudging works. On other pinball apps you can tap the corner of the screen to nudge the table but you have to shake your phone for this one which is pretty difficult to do unless you like having a cracked screen from flinging it across the room. But aside from the lackluster default table and interesting nudge controls the game seems to run well and is a nice mindless pinball game. I wish there was more to do though. Strange ranking system for sure.
For playing on iPhone, please add a CLOSE UP camera angle that follows the ball. You did camera angle 4p on Aliens vs Pinball tables. It’s AWESOME! Please add. Incredible, absolutely incredible Star Wars pinball tables. THE LAST JEDI tables are breathtaking and dazzling. Great work, Zen, as usual. My only slight criticism is: you should increase the difficulty level just a bit because on a real pinball table at an arcade, I could probably not keep the ball in play as long as I can on a Zen table. Maybe just don’t allow any “saves”, or perhaps open the gap just slightly between flippers. Other than that, your tables really are dazzling and have great eye-appeal.
I've purchased most of the tables but this one is desperately in need of some tuning. The right and left ball sinks get hit CONSTANTLY! I can score in average 30m on other tables, these games are so quick because you are losing the ball to normal bounces and there doesn't seem to be much you can do about it. Can you please tune this? Have you play tested it? Am I the only one who experiences this? The table looks great, but it's not fun and it's not challenging because just random occurrences seem to end your game. Just needs some physics adjustments.
After downloading this game, I played it once and thought it was so-so. Then I decided I wanted to try a new table, and bought the Han Solo one. That’s when I realized how amazing this game is... after playing it until my eyes hurt, I wanted more. I bought another table.. and another.. at $1.99 a table, this game is amazingly affordable to get hours of fun. And I must say, some tables are super easy (Darth Vader) and others are very challenging (Force Awakens). You really just need to try out multiple tables to see for yourself! Very fun game!!
I love Star Wars, and I love pinball games, but unless you want to spend $50+ to unlock all of them without even being able to try them out, better stick to the free versions or just buy one table to get really good at. If there were a free version with ads I could play without needing to buy each separate table as DLC I would give this game 5 stars, otherwise this game is pretty much a total cash grab on its surface, and that spoils the meticulous and well designed pinball game beneath it. Aside from the paywall, it’s the best pinball game sim I’ve seen anywhere to date, so props to the designers/developers, and a big middle finger to the marketing team.
