Check the Sophie's Dice documentation for the full change log.
Sophie's Dice is less of a game and more of a masterclass in utility design for the tabletop community. For a dice roller to stand out in a saturated market, it needs to be fast, tactile, and highly customizable—and Sophie's Dice nails all three. The physics engine is incredibly robust; the dice have a satisfying weight and bounce that feels far more natural than the 'canned' animations found in most RPG companion apps.
What truly sets it apart is the 'notation' system and the aesthetic customization. You can create complex rolls (like 4d6 drop lowest) with ease and save them as quick-access buttons. The visual effects, from glowing neon edges to realistic stone textures, are stunning. It supports everything from standard D6s to exotic FUDGE dice and custom-faced polyhedrals. For any D&D DM or board game enthusiast, this is the gold standard of digital dice.
Ultra-realistic physics-based rolling
Support for all polyhedral and custom dice
Advanced math notation and presets
Incredible visual customization and shaders
Use the notation bar to create specific presets for your character's attacks. For example, '2d8+5' can be saved as a button so you can roll damage instantly during your game sessions.
Tap the dice menu to change materials to glass, metal, or even glowing 'magic' effects. You can also adjust gravity and bounciness to make the dice feel exactly how you like on your screen.
Absolutely! It is designed specifically with RPGs like D&D and Pathfinder in mind.
Great app, loads of features. Love how customizable the dice are. There are more shapes for every face count than I could ever imagine using and the feature to import images to add to custom dice makes customization virtually limitless. You can make your own bags, specific rolls with whatever combination of dice you’d like, and so much more. There are only a few nitpicks I have but they don’t stop this from being a 5-star app. I wish there were: - more fonts available (or the ability to import your own) - a simple way to share custom dice (it is possible but not streamlined) or sync over iCloud - more updates and/or transparency on the AppStore listing about the state of future updates. The developer is transparent on their website about iOS not receiving anymore updates for the foreseeable future (as of September 2025) but a little blurb on the app listing would be appreciated. I hope future iOS updates don’t break the app. Despite those few wishlist items, this is an amazing app. If you’re looking for a customizable dice rolling app, this is well worth the price.
This dice app is like Mary Poppins - Practically perfect in every way. If I could make a few suggestions, one is give people an option to have more than two colors on the dice, like a rainbow swirl or layers and have more than one color for the numbers, like if they wanted to have the Pansexual pride flag colors as the numbers’ colors. Otherwise, amazing app, 20/10, would stratospherically recommend!
I've tried every dice app I can find, and this one is a definite contender for the best dice app on the App Store. The amount of customization available is extensive, albeit somewhat confusing without any in-app help. Once I read through the online help, I was able to grok most of the settings and how to access relevant editing areas. Summary: The settings and editing screens could improve in terms of initial approachability and usability, but overall, it is a highly customizable dice app for anyone who needs custom dice or complex dice pool calculations. This is my current go-to dice app now.
I’ve tried a lot of dice rollers over the years, and Sophie’s Dice beats all the others… by a lot. The degree of customization possible, between dice shapes, face values, the staggering flexibility of functions, and even the visual styles of the dice is just incredible. Everything I was looking for in a dice app and more!
If you want a dice roller that just works, this does it. I don’t use it often, I like my physical dice, but this is great to just keep on my iPhone for game. Works great as a sidebar app on iPad
Oh my holy crap I’ve been waiting and here it is in all it’s glory! Now I can have my dice and eat them too! I feel like I’m living in the best version of this universe right now.
This is exactly what I wanted. Excellent defaults, but highly configurable. Makes it easy to manage dice rolling across many TTRPGs, including arbitrary homebrews.
This is the most amazing app ever invented. I could roll five pugs forever. It’s also a fast and visually pleasing way to rol dice, flip coins, and generate randomness in many many convenient ways. Success dice? GURPS dice? It’s all in here. And it’s customizable. I have no imaginable use for this app at this point in my life but I absolutely cannot get enough of it.
