Room 666: Hotel Orpheus is a psychological horror game based on the 'anomaly detection' subgenre. You are trapped in an infinite hotel loop, and your only way out is to pay close attention to your surroundings. In each room, you must decide: is everything the same as before? If so, proceed. If you spot an anomaly—no matter how small—you must turn back. One mistake will reset your progress, and the hotel won't let you leave easily. With a chilling atmosphere inspired by liminal spaces, Hotel Orpheus will test your memory and your nerves.

It leans into the 'liminal space' aesthetic that has become so popular, creating a deep sense of unease as you navigate the repetitive, eerie corridors of the hotel. The mechanics are simple but effective: you must identify if the room you've entered is identical to the 'safe' version or if a subtle anomaly has occurred.
What makes it truly terrifying is how subtle the changes can be—a flickering light, a painting with moving eyes, or a slightly misplaced chair. It requires intense focus, and the jumpscares are earned rather than cheap. The sound design is minimalist, relying on the hum of fluorescent lights and distant footsteps to keep you on edge. Take your time in the very first 'Reference Room.' Memorize the number of chairs, the pattern on the rug, and the contents of the paintings. Most anomalies are visual, but some can be auditory, so keep your sound on and listen for anything that doesn't belong.
Gameplays
To escape, you must successfully navigate 10 rooms in a row without missing an anomaly. As you get closer to the end, the anomalies become much harder to spot, sometimes involving moving shadows or changing text on signs.

Loved all the games but…..
Tue Oct 04 2022 PuddinzSo I’ve played all their games and loved them all. Seriously cannot wait to play more but there is one issue I noticed in all the games that is super annoying. Whenever you have to drag something from the top of the screen it pulls the notification center down. For example putting the mirror puzzle together there is a small piece at the top that you have to drag down. I had to drag it little by little because of the Notification Center. At one point it got stuck at the top I had to come out of the puzzle and start over. Maybe it’s my big fingers idk but I hope they can change this. Other than that if you enjoy point and click games you will love this developers games.
Great escape/adventure game
Tue Jul 12 2022 liligirl111This is the first game that I have played by this developer. It was about 4 hours of good logical fun. Very intuitive but tough. There was a hint system but you were given hints in steps instead of a full reveal. I love getting a nudge in the right direction instead of having the solution given to me (but the option is nice). There were absolutely no glitches or issues with the game at all. I have been wanting to try one of this developers games but I am always hesitant to buy without a free demo. Luckily, and graciously, this was a freebie. So thank you!! I will now be buying the other games of the same genre that have been previously released by this developer.

It’s wonderfully challenging, the hint system is the best (they are truly hints and give answers only if you want them), story is well integrated and developed, and the artwork is so good - perfect for the game. In short, everything you want in a good escape game! Thank you Twinpix. Hope there’s another one coming! And if you haven’t played their other games, go play them, they’re all great!

Sun Jul 31 2022 IvyInTheTARDISI enjoyed Room 666 as much as Brian's other games (Room 1309, The Freezer, and The Lift). What a bizarre & creepy world. Best feature: random pressing doesn't get you what you want; you really need to know what you're looking for, and then, poof, touch-and-take! Truly appreciate the map jumping. Lots of eeeew, too! Before I knew it, 3 hours had passed. Good fun, this.
Great puzzles with varying degrees of difficulty!
Wed Sep 11 2024 Lizard C.Super creepy but not overly graphic. My only frustration is that sometimes I am doing the right action but not exactly hitting the right spot. Then I watch the video and see that getting the key to the cupboard wasn’t enough. I had to line the key handle up with the keyhole! I must have touched the keyhole half a dozen times with the end of the key that usually goes in the keyhole! Otherwise I love these games!

Thu Jul 07 2022 hiugvvrfhjnGreat fun and the new map so you don’t have to retrace your steps a million times is great. I just couldn’t find the piece to the tv remote but all the other puzzles were fun, not too hard, and the hints were helpful without giving it all away. Will await more from this series!
