Ridepods is a quirky arcade racer that feels like a love letter to the 'Podracing' era of sci-fi. It’s less about the physics of a car and more about the momentum of a hovering jet-engine. The 'Race with Head' mechanic refers to the unique perspective—the game uses a very tight, immersive camera that makes high-speed weaving through canyons feel genuinely dangerous.
The controls are simplified but allow for a high degree of mastery when it comes to air-braking and drifting. The tracks are the real stars here, featuring shortcuts and multi-level paths that reward players for exploring rather than just following the racing line. While it lacks a deep multiplayer component, the 'Ghost' system for chasing your own best times is highly addictive and perfect for short gaming sessions.
Unique hovering pod physics
Immersive first-person racing perspective
Dozens of unlockable and upgradable pods
Challenging time-trial and ghost modes
In Ridepods, braking is your enemy. Instead of slowing down for turns, let go of the accelerator early to let the pod's natural drift carry you through the curve, then hit the boost at the apex.
Look for the blue glowing rails. These are high-speed lines that can shave seconds off your lap time, but they require precise entry angles to avoid crashing into the walls.
Yes, you can choose between virtual buttons or high-precision tilt controls in the settings.
Calibration to current posture would be nice if possible apparently I lean left. Braking and deceleration doesn’t seem to work at all. Current mode too fast, obstacle cars placed unnaturally dangerously close and oncoming and relatively slow. Great concept, needs improvement.
This game is a great concept of new method of game controls. Lets just say, that it is great as a concept and will bring some cool game mechanics in the future P.S. but I really appreciate that it has no ads or purchases whatsoever, keep it going!😁
A good start to something very novel, it might have people looking at you funny though. Might I suggest a calibration method or some sort of “level setting” mechanism. My AirPods seemed to have a left tilt bias no matter what I did. This is a 1.0.0 release so I get it. Keep up the innovative work though!
The game has great ideas, but the frame time stability and graphics are obnoxiously bad. I hope it gets some form of monetization soon, or maybe a spot on Apple Arcade, so they can have more time/money to iterate on the idea.
Not sure what the trouble is. Running beta iOS 26.1 or that I renamed my AirPods or that I have two sets of AirPods listed in devices and one is always disconnected. Giving it a three as it’s a great concept.
starts out on “ludicrous speed”, nearly impossible to stay alive more than five seconds.
The fact that this game isn’t compatible with the latest AirPods is unbelievable to me. It’s like they engineered backwards.
Says airpods disconnected but I am using them.
