Our Expert Score

83/100

Raid Rush is a high-energy addition to the Tower Defense genre that manages to feel fresh through its 'Rush' mechanic and emphasis on fast-paced tactical adjustments. Unlike traditional TD games where you 'set and forget,' Raid Rush requires active management of your hero units and temporary tower boosts. The enemy waves are relentless, forcing you to constantly rethink your chokepoints and elemental coverage.

The visual style is punchy and colorful, with diverse environments that each present unique pathfinding challenges. What I really appreciated was the card-based tower upgrade system; it adds a layer of deck-building strategy before the match even begins. While the difficulty spikes in the mid-game can be steep, the sense of accomplishment when you finally find the perfect defense against a massive boss wave is immense. It’s a polished, strategic, and genuinely exciting tower defense experience.

Great game. Updates not so much…
Thu Feb 22 2024 ZZTopperdre

I have been playing this game for several weeks and mechanics and game structure are great, unique and quite fun. Tower developments are nice and I’ve actually gotten several towers up to a pretty high-level. Now after this update, when they introduced a whole bunch of new features, there are a couple things that in my opinion got worse instead of better. 1-Tesla tower. The Tesla tower used to work against both ground and air units, now it’s just ground units. This makes the maps that are heavy in both types of units too difficult as you just can’t get enough towers to cover both ground and air with any kind of effective fire power. 2-Tower Card Merging too confusing. They changed the way you merge lower level cards to get higher level towers. I have not quite figured out the best way yet but in doing so I’ve lost several of my cards trying to experiment how the new merging works. Hoping the developers respond with some better explanation on merging cards. 3-Existing maps default units changed. The types of units that are sent on each map also got changed. There used to be some maps with only ground units and some maps with only are units. This was very helpful when trying to upgrade specific types of towers. I no longer see these maps so once again difficult to get enough tower power to match the incoming units.

Well balanced long haul TD

I’ve played just about every TD out there, this game stands out mainly due to the track building mechanic. The basic idea that you have random cards to use for towers, including track pieces so you get to design your path on an open grid, gives the player tons of options and a sense of strategy. The devs also know how to expand the gameplay with events and upgrades with a steady difficulty ramping. The major downside is poor stability from all the ad loading. Basically after 2 or 3 ads on an ipad5 you’re getting a crash/ reboot. *update* still having ad issues but I work around it and still get a lot of fun out of this game. Again, well crafted with lots of stuff to work on between games and you have both strategic and tactical options in-game that other TD’s lack.. I like the random nature of the cards and with persistence and smart selection of the cards and their placement, you can beat the bosses and push through the difficulty ramping. Events which showcase different cards that you might not have used yet keep things fresh. I paid for removal of the interstitial ads. Props to the devs for listening to players and continually updating the game. An excellent addition to the genre.

Very fun but….

This game is great. It’s fun to get creative and try different things to win. I am having big issues with a mixture of how very little gold you get from chests and/or how much gold it costs to do things. So much in-game currency purchases but not much in-game currency to go around. For instance my current next tower upgrade costs 70K. So I beat a level, wait 4,8,12,24 hours and maybe get enough gold to make one small (not very effective) upgrade. Meanwhile, every card also uses that currency to upgrade so it’s basically like going to the mall with only $10 every time you want to upgrade anything. Also, chests take way too long with only 3 chances to watch ads to speed up. You should have as many ad watch chances as you want to shave an hour off your wait time. And to use diamonds to speed up costs way too many diamonds. To use diamonds to refresh your card choices costs way too many diamonds. To use in-game currency to buy diamonds cost way too much. Overall the game needs to be less stingy. Loosen up a bit please. Make things cost less or reward us more. Also if you watch an ad, the game audio fails and doesn’t come back unless you restart the app. PLEASE FIX THIS. This should be an easy fix and quick update if you have proper app developers. And getting bombarded with 5/6 in app purchases right when you open the game is super tacky and annoying.

Best mobile TD I’ve found but monetization is too predatory

I really enjoy tower defense games and this is the best one I’ve found in terms of gameplay. First of all, there’s no energy or other nonsense that forces you to stop playing the game. Nearly all the ads are opt-in (I’ll come back to that in a moment). By randomizing the towers or path upgrades you can make, you don’t get to rely on one optimal strategy every time and have to think on your feet. I also love that the game always gives you way to play that will earn you rewards that advance your progress, like the normal and epic modes, and the weekend events, and the rewards are decently fair for the time you invest. So why three stars? Once you hit level 20, you will get hit with a 60 second unskippable interstitial ad after every play UNLESS you buy something for real money from the store to permanently disable them. I strongly disapprove of this strategy to get people to monetize your game. Additionally, every ad in the game is either a 30 or a 60 second unskippable ad, which is BRUTAL to sit through. And if you do want to spend money on the game, the prices are astronomical by microtransaction standards. Their premium pass cost as much as a video streaming subscription, and some of their other packages are $15 or $30 and can only be unlocked with real money. Obviously the developers have every right to make money off a very good game. Clearly they thought very carefully through their revenue strategy and are willing to lose out on my business for a few whales, but I can’t give them five stars for that.

Nice idea, needs work; zero support
Tue Jul 14 2026 sleepngbear

Some cool ideas in this tower defense game, but it needs a bit of work. First off, the screen jumps and zooms to where it thinks you will place towers, which translates into extra taps and drags in the middle of a wave, often when they’re most intrusive. The game requires a LOT of grinding, unless you want to pay a LOT of real money to advance faster. But my biggest complaint is that you are completely at the mercy of what pieces the game offers you as you progress through a level. Sometimes it gives you the towers or road segments you need, most times it doesn’t. You could have a level that’s heavy on flying enemies and get no air defense towers, even if you have them in your battle deck. You may need to extend the road to add more towers and get no road segments, or get only road segments when you need to add or upgrade towers. That can get very frustrating. Another big issue I have is getting no response from submitting support requests. I have questions that I’m getting conflicting answers from Google, but can’t get a response from support. In fact there’s very little information anywhere on strategies and other aspects of the game that would be helpful. I’ll keep playing it while it’s mostly fun, but I think at some point the frustration will outweigh the slow pace of advancement and it will end up in the trash can.

The ads are getting out of hand
Sat Aug 01 2026 ibhugh

I really do enjoy the game and understand the need to generate revenue through ads….. However, the ads have gotten totally out of hand. Over the last several months, ads have been getting longer, or you have to sit through 2 of them. The ads have additionally gotten more deceptive, both in the indicated ‘time left’ and what they are advertising doesn’t exist in the actual game the ad is for ( false advertising). I also think the ad server wants to give customers carpal tunnel. I have to ‘close’ the ad 3-5 times before getting credit for watching the ad (a few times more than that). I’ve had the ad crash 90% of the way through an ad, resulting in force quitting and not getting credit for watching the ad. The way the ads have changed recently is making the game experience far worse than several months ago. Also, you need to work on your refresh algorithm for the towers/roads/upgrades. More often than not, if I refresh to get different towers, I’ve gotten the same 3 towers, or if I get road/road/expansion when I’m looking for towers, I just keep getting different roads and no towers, even after several refreshes. This pretty much happens every time I play. Or at the beginning of a battle, I get 1 tower, then I just get roads for 8 levels. That should not be happening. The algorithm is far too streaky.

Fun game, awful auto-battle feature
Mon Mar 09 2026 Rploeschner

I’ve always enjoyed tower defense games. This is a fun addition to the genre, but there are some irritating downsides. The gameplay is so slow that it forces you into a membership just to get the game to a playable speed. There is also an auto-battle feature that is behind a paywall—which is fine, but the auto- styler is SO BAD at the game! It makes the worst decisions and screws up games even if I spend the first 10-15 turns setting it up. It makes illogical choices…it’ll choose the flag for map expansion and put it in a place where it only reveals one extra tile. It’ll choose unleveled towers that are useless over choosing a very beneficial tower upgrade. It’ll also move towers to locations where the towers coverage isn’t maximized. If the developer is going to put the auto battle feature behind a pay-wall then make it AMAZING! Put some AI in there or something. But as of now all it does is screw up the game, and guarantee a loss. This game has promise, but I’m pulling my subscriptions today for two reasons. First, it seems manipulative to make the game super slow so that players have to purchase a subscription to get the game to a reasonable speed. Second, it seems unprofessional and careless to charge money for an auto-battle feature that plays far worse than a human can play.

Good game but could be expensive

I love this game so far. I have been playing for a couple weeks now and it is a lot of fun. However, per usual these days, this is a money grab game. U can play it without money but obviously progression will be significantly more difficult. We all know the layout of all games now, they have a gem n coin currency and random lottery chest. They all give you chest/money/equipment everyday for logging in n etc. However, I have noticed with this game it seems to be a noticeable difference in how much/little they give for free. When u compare the amount u get to what they want u to spend on the loot/refreshing it’s not great. Obviously, if you don’t spend money u shouldn’t expect much and I don’t but it’s kinda insanely slow progress on my towers. I spend a minimal amount on mobile games so I notice these things, but I do really enjoy the game. It is a lot of fun, worth checking out but keep in mind you will have to be very patient or spend money to be able to collect/upgrade towers. Also if any devs read this, PLEASE add a trash ability to the battle chest or set a shorter time for them to open (without spending an insane amount of gems to open them). My slots are constantly filled with silver so it’s extremely rare to get anything better.
