Minor bug fixes, and performance improvements
Prison Empire Tycoon is a surprisingly deep and visually engaging 'idle' game that manages to tackle its somewhat dark premise with a polished, cartoonish aesthetic. You aren't just clicking buttons; you are managing the logistics of a high-security facility. Balancing prisoner rehabilitation against the need for strict security is a genuinely interesting dynamic that most management games ignore.
The progression is well-paced. You start with a small, low-security jail and work your way up to massive, high-tech penitentiaries. The visual feedback is excellent—watching your prisoners move through their daily routines, from the yard to the cafeteria, makes the prison feel like a living ecosystem. The micro-management of staff, utilities, and inmate happiness provides just enough complexity to keep things from getting boring while you wait for your income to accumulate. It’s a top-tier tycoon game that respects its genre while adding its own unique twist.

The 'Inmate Stress' bar is your most important metric. If it gets too high, a riot will break out, costing you thousands in repairs. Ensure you have enough cooks to provide quality food and plenty of yard time to keep prisoners calm.
Rehabilitating prisoners grants you a large lump sum of money. Invest in the library and workshops early; while they are expensive to maintain, the payout for a successfully reformed inmate far exceeds the daily maintenance cost.
Yes, your prison continues to operate and generate income for a set number of hours after you close the app.
So I really think this game is good. It’s very fun to try and balance all of the upgrades while still keeping prisoners happy. Although I wish it had more prisons that were a lot bigger, it still is very time consuming which is what I like from an idle game. just one thing though. The building mechanic is so stupid and annoying. The fact that I have to wait 12 hours for a medical area to be built even though I already paid 200,000$ for it is so stupid. And the only way to speed this up is through gems that cannot be obtained fast enough. I’m fine with the gems, it’s just that even with max builders, I still have to wait 6 freaking hours. A lot of the time it literally locks me out of playing the game because u can’t do anything other that watching ads for money while it’s building. Then that leads to me having way to much money built up that I can max upgrade the entire cell and buy the next cell while not even putting a scratch in the amount of money I have. So it removes the entire challenge of the game and makes me literally not be able to play the game. My solution would be to make it that it builds instantly, but costs a lot more, or have the build times be drastically lower (30 minutes max at least) and be able to take a bit of the time off with the in game money in stead of gems. I really hope this annoyance gets changed please. Other than that though, 10/10 game would highly recommended if it wasn’t for the building mechanic.
The word challenging is a word I’ve ever used in describing an idle. Real goals real strategy real consequences for not completing said goals. This is not just leveling up with money you that will come to you over time, it’s a balancing act where each decision you make plays into the story and the story here is more than just a plot. Money is tight right now and I don’t have tons of cash to use on a game and that will change in time and the reason I mention this is for a point I have never ever spent one penny on an idle not because they aren’t worth spending cash on but because I get bored quickly with non fighting idles it’s level up come back later level up with cash that you are guaranteed to make this is not that kind of game. The skill involved with so many variables should absolutely hold my interest. This is an idle masterpiece and if you get bored quickly on idles for the same reasons I do no worries here this game begs for continued play. This game is alive, engaging and it will be a different gaming experience for each person who plays. Download and prepare yourself for the idle experience that you didn’t think was possible. I want more from these developers and I’ll be on the lookout for whatever they put out.
I love all their idle games and this one isn’t any different. It’s literally what you want from an idle game. Some times the programming can be annoying, it doesn’t seem to flow as well as their other games. Take hotel empire for example. Everyone in the game does what they’re supposed to do and it all makes sense. I made in app purchases for offline managers, but when I get back on the game, my prisons are all about to go on riot.. So what did I pay that money for if every time I log on, I have to stick around to prevent a riot?? Then one my biggest pet peeves is the fact that you have staff to clean the prison, but they’re programming doesn’t seem to make sense. All of them will literally walk away from a mess, unlike in hotel empire, the cleaners clean in a way that makes sense. Then the guards will literally just watch a prisoner try to escape, even though the guard room is maxed out. They’ll even all just walk by a prisoner needing help or something, even though an infirmary is already built up and you’re maxed out on guards, etc..and what pisses me off is that prisoners will all show up at different times, but then they ALL leave at once. So now you’re left waiting either taking losses or having to fire your staff and rehire them again. And when your prisoners exit, even though it shows there’s room for more prisoners, the bus will just leave. I wish they’d fix the programming on some of these. But I mean, aside from those, it’s a great game really.
One of the best idle games that I’ve played so far! I really love how you can see the things visually getting upgraded in the prisons and the animation interactions are super fun. The card system and character skin system is also really interesting lol. I’ve also never stressed as much in the other idle games with upgrades, this is like the first time that I’m willingly watching ads just to get more cash in time. I’d spend like a whole hour just watching the prisoners go about their day and worry that they aren’t getting what they need. There are some issues with parts of the game play though. For the most part the prisoners and the employees are doing things on schedule for me—when I’m there. It’s as if they can sense me, and they slack off when I am not. I’m not sure if that’s suppose to be part of the design? It’s intriguing, but also a bit annoying. Whenever I go onto the game during its day time, I’d see chefs bringing in ONLY 4 out of like 25 meals (despite max kitchen upgrades and max staff), the janitors washing HALF as many laundry, and if I have a workshop, the prisoners wouldn’t go until I actually get onto the game (workshop schedule starts at 3:30, but if I go on when it’s 6pm, they’d start running there at 6pm). And all of this does not happen when I’m constantly in the game watching them. So weird! Other than that everything runs fine! Love the events and stuff. I hope in the future we’d be able to click on specific prisoners and get their individual stats though. Maybe they’d have random characters names and stuff too LOL, that’d be interesting.
What were y’all thinkin? This level is ridiculous. Everything costs so much. It’s like the designers are acting like you get to bring money from other prisons along with you. The map is TOO BIG for the prisoners to get where they need to be in time!!! They don’t make it to work, they don’t make it to get food. The map is too big too correlate with the way you have time set up. The prison does nothing but lose money on the staff cuz EVERY upgrade requires hours of waiting to be able to duplicate your money to get things done. It’s not even fun. The game should get more challenging but not unplayable. We get no say over how our staff operates. We don’t get to assign where they work. And it takes the prisoners the entire duration of work and food time just to run to where they need to go. It’s disappointing after waiting so long for it to come out. I could say a million good things about this app but we need a way to communicate feedback on new maps and so forth. The Space Cooler and Red Planet have absolutely sucked and been no fun at all. The costs are too high and the maps are way too big to make it functional. PS the non-military maps on Thursdays are the best part of this game now that I have beat it up to Red Planet. The military based temp prisons aren’t a nearly as fun because they are all based around how much money you put in. I have put money in before, but I won’t for a temp prison, and Red Planet has so many issues it’s not even worth it.
I’ve been playing this game for a while and it’s super fun, but recently I’ve been noticing some bugs occurring in the map mentioned above that’s kind of messing up the gameplay. For starters, several times, sometimes in a row, the chefs will make the food for the prisoners and deliver it to the cafeteria, but then just leave meaning there’s nobody to serve the food. Then I have 32 increasingly angry prisoners close to inciting a riot over something I can’t exactly fix. And another thing is that I can’t leave the game for more than 5 minutes without the prison becoming basically inoperable without me. Even writing this review I’m risking inciting a riot at the prison which has already costed me thousands of in-game dollars and many guards. Last thing is that the “loans” that the game gives you are sometimes inaccurate in money count. Sometimes I’ve watched a 60 second ad thinking I’ll be getting at least $10,000 only to find out I’ve only gotten $3,000. I know that may sound like an exaggeration but it truly is not. The first two problems I’ve never had before and the last one if I remember correctly has been present for a while. I love this game and as of now will continue to play it, but all of these reasons makes the game difficult to enjoy sometimes and if they continue to happen while I progress through the game I may just have to uninstall unfortunately.
I read someone else’s review and they said something I totally agree with. The fact that you can’t do anything to prevent a riot. I’ve been playing through the game wondering the exact same thing. How do I get the prisoners to de-stress so they don’t start a riot? I was expecting there to be something that I could do but even with everything upgraded on the first prison, I still get riots. I don’t know how the devs want us to play but being that I downloaded the game 2 days ago for the first time I think I’m a good candidate for perspective. The first hours playing after I quit the game a few times because I got tired of reading... I kept expecting there to be some way to control the stress of your prisoners so that you don’t have to endure a riot, but no. The only thing you can do is keep upgrading other stuff so that the riots happen less and your guards’ll be prepared for it. One thing they suggested was that you can control the schedule. I thought that’s a good idea. Also, something else... I really just don’t get why after all that time spent upgrading and waiting for ads to get more money, why I’m basically restricted to just watch all my money increase without having the luxury of spending it on more stuff. Like because I maxed out the first prison, I’m forced to watch my wallet get fatter tenfold. Why can’t I spend my money from that prison on more upgrades for the other prisons later in the game? Is there a point to maxing out prisons? Because the only thing I can think of upgrading til is the point where you finish the objective given so you can move on. And that, my friends, in my opinion, is stupid.
Fun game my one issue is the drop off bus. Often times the drop off bus comes just after my prisoners are released, the prisoners have already left the prison and are no longer counted in the number but because they are still walking away from the prison even if already outside the gates I won’t get new prisoners off that bus it’ll just leave. It’s a bit annoying because if no one is taking up those empty prisoner slots I should get more. My second issue with the game are the riots. I can max out all of the guards equipment and facilities have max level of guards to like 12 prisoners and all my guards will die. I’ve lost 25 guards to only 10 prisoners and this guards were maxed up. Another thing if the best ways to prevent riots are to take care of prisoner needs it’s not fair if my prisoners need hygiene or comfort or something and they just don’t do anything to fix it. They just sit there letting their levels fall lower as if I don’t have the means already set up for them. It’s not fair that they constantly riot and I’ve already given them everything I possibly could. Like if you’re hungry eat!, but no they will stay in the yard playing till at least half of the eating time is used up or worse the cooking staff for no reason I can see just didn’t prepare any food.
