No time limits and funny arts
Sat Dec 28 2024 Lenora Dragonfly

This is one of the more decent games out there. Yes the ads are annoying, but I’m kinda used to them now. In this game the ads are consistent length and similar buttons to push to dismiss them. They only last 5 seconds each. I love the fact that the pencils fly away in a satisfying way when you match them. I love that the puzzles are not timed, and even the fact that many of them are pretty hard. Also you get to complete funny pencil art, no it’s not sketches done by a pencil, they are paintings featuring anthropomorphic pencils that are spoofs of famous paintings. Overall pretty chill game. You don’t have to log in daily to grind it, you can forget about it for a few days without missing anything. Then you just get back in the middle of a level and continue where you left off

I love this game, but…

I have really enjoyed playing this game. I find the gameplay sufficiently challenging to stay motivated. The painting collection is a unique and interesting feature, and primarily what is keeping me playing daily. I will likely keep playing until I have completed the painting gallery. I paid to remove adds, but need to watch a bunch anyway for certain levels. The game is a bit like solitaire, where your options are limited to the “hand” dealt. Not all levels are beatable without helps, even with a good starting point. The odd part is that clearing “free” spaces in the game is only achieved through watching adds. There is no option to buy the space, or use an earned tool to clear it. There are bugs with the points adding up. If you go to fast you will lose points. If you make a scoring move before the current points have finished adding, it won’t count. There are tournaments and a “streak” feature. There are no teams (would love to see this). I completed the streak 100, and it hasn’t reset. There is a timer next to the treasure box on the screen that doesn’t seem to count down to anything happening. There is no support for the game, other than leaving a review, and the information on game play is very limited. I want to keep playing this game (the only reason I’m taking the time to write this long review), but there are too many features missing or buggy to continue much longer. I’m starting to lose interest.

Option to pay for “no ads” is a scam

This game is fun, but it has an option to pay $7.99 to remove pop up ads and banner ads that is pointless. I understood that this wouldn’t remove the optional ads that can help you win the game, but in a moment of weakness I bought it anyway. The issue is, some of these puzzles are constructed such that you literally CANNOT WIN without watching at least 1 of the optional ads. You don’t earn enough coins to avoid this. I seriously feel like I got scammed into paying for no ads when in reality they are still making money off me because you have to watch the ads to win the levels. If I could, I would request a refund and just watch all the ads instead of some. Overall I am very disappointed because like another reviewer said I had a good time playing an unlimited version of the game as an add while playing solitaire (ironic, I know). However, there is no such thing as “endless” version in the actual app, and it’s got more ads that solitaire does.

DO NOT SPEND $ TO REMOVE ADS, THE ADS CONTINUE!

The goal of this game is to make you watch ads. This game itself is really fun, but the length of ads makes the game a struggle. 1-2 minutes before starting a new level, after a purchase or using a booster makes ad-watching the primary focus of this game. Depending on the ad, the ad demo runs twice before the timer starts for ending the ad. You can turn off WiFi to skip ads, but then none of the “free” items are available, you have pay for everything you need help with. To add insult to injury, paying for no ads has doesn’t stop them, and trying to contact the developer gives you a session timeout screen. How sad that a fun game is ruined by ad pirates! Winning a game levels you up, but only awards you five points and five coins, but to get just five more coins, you can WATCH ANOTHER AD! The stars in my rating only apply to the game itself. The ad length and frequency bring the rating down to zero.

It’s alright

It’s good and even addicting, but you’re supposed to get a significant amount of coins after each painting is completed but for a while now, I’ll complete 2 and not get any coins and only on the third painting will I get any coins (again, it’s supposed to be after every painting is completed, not after every 3 are completed). And the higher the level you’re on, the longer it takes to complete a painting, which means it’ll take me forever just to complete one, let alone 3. I’ve also seen in the other reviews not to spend any money on the app. I haven’t but I don’t typically spend money on apps anyway, so I’d just listen to those reviews.

too many ads and weird mechanic

i love this game, solely for the fact that it stimulates my adhd brain with the pencil sound and color sort. HOWEVER, with the number of ads in this game, it's obviously a cash grab more than anything. i'm going to compare it to a better game, Block Blast, to get my point across. In this game, when you back yourself into a corner, the randomized blocks that comes after actually HELPS you get out of the sticky situation. No matter how bad the situation gets, the blocks that comes next will give you the solution to stop you from failing and give you the chance to continue playing. You just have to figure the puzzle out, which is really fun and satisfying. But in Pencil Sort, when you make a few mistakes, there's really no way to get out other than buying items, watch an ad to get a free space, or watch an ad to revive yourself. You don't even feel satisfied for completing the puzzle because when you win, THERE'S ANOTHER AD WAITING FOR YOU. Clearly, the goal is to make you watch as many ads as possible, which gives them money, but if you're going to do that, at least make the game actually ENJOYABLE. It's such a shame cause I love the little art and the sound effects, but that's not enough to keep me engaged, so I'm deleting it now.

Don’t Spend to Remove Ads
Sat Sep 21 2024 Wisteriå

I do enjoy the game enough to have the Ads removed because they were just too constant. I enjoyed the game for a few more levels however, in order to have more lives you have to watch Ads and in order to get free tile spaces in a level you have to watch Ads. Charging 7$ to remove Ads is honestly thievery especially if I still have to watch them after paying to remove them. Another issue I have is that there’s no possible way to get more of the abilities without having to pay for more. 5 lives is not enough especially if you’re trying to play the game for free. Lastly, the ads are wayyyy too long. I feel like I spend more times still watching ads or restarting a level than actually playing the game.

Disappointed (You should probably fix the issue.)

This used to be a very fun game that I used for when my anxiety was acting up, but as of lately the ads seem to be every 10 seconds and then there is this pop-up that takes you too safari that I have to immediately close because it says it’s going to give my phone some kind of virus if left open. I am worried it’s going to give my phone a virus. It’s a shame. The ads and this virus pop-up problem are a huge issue that needs to be resolved. I will be deleting the app. (Plus the rewards weren’t enough for all the problems and ads you had to go through to get them. I’m also not paying $7.99 a month for an ad free version. That’s a lot of money. It’s nice I could play offline though, but I’ll stick to bringing a book to read instead now.)
