Peekaboo Barn is a beloved classic that has introduced millions of children to the world of apps. The premise is simple: a barn door shakes, you hear an animal sound, and when you tap the door, a friendly animal pops out! It helps toddlers learn animal names and sounds while developing fine motor skills through simple interaction. It features beautiful hand-drawn illustrations and clear, professional voiceovers.

Our Expert Score

95/100

Peekaboo Barn is a masterpiece of early childhood app design. It understands exactly what a toddler needs: repetition, surprise, and friendly visuals. The 'anticipation' phase where the barn shakes is the secret sauce—it keeps kids engaged and giggling before the reveal even happens.

I especially love the educational value found in the language switching. Being able to hear 'Cow' or 'Vache' helps with early phonetic development. It’s one of the few apps I feel completely comfortable leaving with a child because there are no ads or confusing menus to accidentally tap. It’s pure, wholesome, and incredibly polished.

Great First App for Kids!
Sun Jun 15 2025 Momomodi

My 1 year old loves this app. It’s so great to keep her entertained when we’re are traveling in car or on the plane. It’s not as over stimulating as some other apps or videos. We love it!

Impossible to exit

It kept our toddler preoccupied and entertained but would not let us exit child lock mode. I could not switch to any other apps after opening it. It would be better to understand how to enable child lock mode and how to get out of it before it’s enabled.

Fun learning

Love It! (Well, my son does, anyway)

My eleven month old son loves this game. As I write this, he's cackling away, opening the barn doors and dancing. What impresses me most about this game, or whatever you want to call it, is the ease and intuitive nature of the interface. As I say, my son is eleven months old and has been able to figure this out more or less for himself. As a treat, once every couple of weeks, we're getting more of the titles in this series, but so far, Peekaboo Barn is the one to which he has had the strongest response. I credit it as much to his growing intelligence and inquisitive nature as I do to the developers behind this app in concocting something for even the youngest children. I thought it would be years before I'd be comfortable handing an iPad to my son (and to be frank, I don't like him staring at or playing with screens all day like I do) but when he's threatening to spill the dog's water all over the kitchen floor again, empty out the movie cabinet, or aggressively peruse our breakables, this makes a superb and immersive distraction. Highly recommended!
