Paranoize is a revolutionary 'Cinematic Comic' RPG from ZigZaGame. Set a decade after a mysterious meteor event, it follows Renji, a blind youth training under a voice only he can hear. Featuring music by Japan Academy Award winner Naoki Satō and an all-star voice cast, the game blends the visual style of manga with the production values of an animated film. Navigate a web of mystery, hunt for killers, and experience a story of unprecedented scale.

Our Expert Score

86/100

Paranoize is unlike anything else on the App Store. It’s less of a traditional 'game' and more of an interactive prestige anime series. The 'Cinematic Comic' style is genuinely innovative; the way the panels move and react to the music and voice acting makes it feel incredibly alive. It’s clear that a lot of budget went into the production values.

The story is the main draw here. It’s a dark, gritty mystery that keeps you guessing. Playing as Renji, who is blind, creates a unique perspective on the world, especially with the game's emphasis on spatial audio. The writing is sharp, and the voice acting is as good as any major anime release.

There are RPG elements and battles, but they serve the narrative rather than the other way around. It’s a very polished, professional experience that will appeal to anyone who loves Manga but wants something more immersive. It’s a bold experiment that mostly succeeds in creating a new kind of mobile entertainment.

Exceeds Expectations!

I wasn’t completely sure what to expect, but as I played it I became more and more hooked. This is the first game I’ve played where I really enjoy the story as much as the gameplay. I love the art also, as an artist, that is usually what hooks me first…but the writer in me is also extremely happy! I am a bit bummed about something, but, I won’t leave any spoilers. Looking forward to more episodes! (Just wish I didn’t have to wait a whole month for them.) Keep up the great work!!

Money hungry
Thu Mar 26 2026 Victim 174

I don’t typically write reviews for games but I feel like this one requires one. They were money hungry when making this game now don’t get me wrong the game itself is okay the scenes and story is good the voice overs are amazing which is basically the only reason I have three stars would have given one or two stars but the mechanics need work specifically when placing buildings you try to move the building to where you want it and it goes the complete opposite direction and then the money hungry part. The summon system has summons that strictly only accepts PAID for diamonds which to a point is fine but already a bit of an throw off but the amount of paid diamonds it wants for one summons is ridiculous over 1900 diamonds for example you only get 1100 diamonds for 21 USD so you need to spend 42 USD to get one summons for the good characters… seriously?!? Then to top it off say you buy some diamonds but go to use your free diamonds to summon the okay characters… instantly uses paid for diamonds instead and now your back to zero. Like come on I understand it’s a free to play game and you have to make your money somewhere but the way you’re going about it so far is NOT the right way you’ve had people waiting a long time for the game to come out only to find out that unless they want to pay almost basically 50 USD they are going to be stuck with basic characters and be limited to what they can do.

Interesting

I have enjoyed it so far. Basic premise is that the story is read to you manga style. The voice acting is actually spectacular and the soundtrack is amazing. I even took a nap to it today it was so relaxing and enjoyable to listen to. The story is very interesting and does leave me wondering what happens next. Having said all that…..I’m not sure what the purpose of the rest of the game is. You build a town sort of, you collect characters, those characters can do some battle…but the progression system of everything just feels weird. Not sure why I’m building the town. It’s certainly not related to the story. The gacha system is annoying because you use gems, but you can only summon certain banners with “paid” gems, meaning gems you paid real money for. They other banners use paid and free gems, but you can’t choose whether you use your paid or free gems, it just uses all of them. So you can’t save up your paid gems for the paid banners because of you saved then you wouldn’t be able to summon on the banners that require free gems….if none of this makes sense it’s because their gacha system doesn’t make sense. Also their character strength progression system is annoying. There is about 50 different ways you can strengthen your characters with 50 different currencies, but the one currency I really need (which are these colorful apples), I have no idea how to get consistently. Anyway…the game is fine. I just assume some kinks need to be worked out. I really hope they do just because I like listening to the game while I play. If they don’t though then I will just move on.

Great game - but be mindful of the genre

It’s a ‘game’, but also not at the same time. It’s like you grab a comic book or manga and put more life into it, such as voice acting like an audiobook, which is really good too. However, it’s mostly viewing instead of playing. It’s a very idle game that spends more time watching episodes instead of interacting with it. The story so far is really good, and I hope we get to experience different points of view in the future. What I enjoy most is the lofi/jazz type music rotating in the background. It’s very relaxing and a personal favorite of mine, since I enjoy games with lots of music. The chibi/small versions of the characters and enemies are really cute too. A genuine warning to anyone who is sensitive to violence, cursing, or the sight of blood and intestines, please be aware. A short premise is ‘alien’ type beings who consume humans. The game censors this, but it’s still explicit. It’s a fairly dark genre story. Cheers for the future.

Different type of game mixed comic with pixel like gameplay the experience great so far.

So I have never wrote a review before and played many games but this one is pretty cool combines the aspects of watching a comic unfold with pixel game play keeps things interesting. Just note that if you don’t like to watch a read comic you can always just set the speed up or just read it. Drone my point of view it’s pretty awesome and different mixing comics with pixel games.

I think the choice of character at the beginning id kinda weird cause I thought we were choosing that as the main character personally. The gameplay is new to me but not unusual as it is an afk farmer type game. The gameplay is simple to learn and easy to master. About the same level as guardian knight or whatever its called. But without the aspect of any real choice in the fighting. If it were more immersive in the fighting aspect i think i would enjoy it more. But the fighting is just watching your characters and not having ANY imput. 4 star for this reason.

Devs have to pay attention. Peds on global chat.

The game is great and has wonderful vibes, the music is amazing and the story is catchy. However the game has a big problem, on the global chat there are a lot of people that are actively trying to engage with minors asking about their ages and then engaging in private conversations in an attempt to grooming them. The chat doesn’t have a report option for you to report this types of users. I really hope the developers pay a bit of attention to this and solve this situation fast. I would give the game a 5/5 stars but sadly we have this happening.

Good manga, terrible game
Thu Apr 02 2026 charlielemons

The game is like something a single developer did, it’s all 2D sprites. The gacha odds are terrible and the rest of the game relies too heavily on an RNG with a wide range, making everything gambling instead of just the gacha pulls, no skill required and pay to win. The manga and the way they have made it animatic with voice acting and score is very good. If not for that, I would have deleted the game immediately, it is outdated and the cost of acquiring characters is much higher than gachas with much better games to actually use the characters in instead of just running battle sims with cards/numbers and sprite sequences that look like they were created in the early 1990s.
