Our Expert Score

79/100

Neverputt is the mini-golf companion to Neverball, using the same physics engine but applied to the world of putting. It’s a much more relaxed experience than Neverball, but still requires a high level of precision. The level designs are creative, ranging from standard greens to wild, multi-tiered courses with moving parts.

It’s a great local multiplayer game if you want to pass-and-play with a friend. The physics feel 'weighty' and realistic, meaning you really have to judge your power and angles. It’s a no-nonsense, high-quality mini-golf sim that focuses on gameplay over flashy gimmicks.

No, unlike Neverball, Neverputt focuses on the number of strokes rather than a countdown clock.

Sure this is a free game on Linux, but the Mac version has not been updated on the developer website for a long time, and cannot just be downloaded and installed like on Linux. Rather than screw with getting it installed via Macports or some emulator, for 99¢ I just paid up and can now easily play on MacOS or iOS, although it is difficult on a phone due to lack of precision controls (no shift key). If I could recommend something to the dev for the phone version, add a precision control button on the right like how there is a swing button on the left. That would make the iOS version more usable.
