Monster Walk: Step Adventure successfully bridges the gap between a pedometer and a core RPG. It solves the biggest issue with fitness apps—boredom—by providing a genuine 'game' reason to get outside. The monster designs are charming, and the evolution paths are varied enough to keep you walking just that extra mile to see what your pet becomes.
Technically, the integration with Apple Health is seamless, and I appreciate that it values all movement, even on a treadmill. The battle system is deeper than I expected, requiring actual strategy rather than just being a stat-check. It turns a chore into a quest, making it the perfect app for anyone who needs a little more 'fantasy' in their fitness routine.

Sync your steps at the end of every day. If you reach 10,000 steps, you receive a 'Golden Egg' which contains rare monster types.
Use the monsters you've leveled up through walking to battle against other players in strategic, turn-based combat.
Yes, it tracks all steps counted by your device's built-in motion sensors or Apple Health.
I started playing this game off of an ad about a week ago, and have really enjoyed it. Gameplay is simple but fun, and the monsters are funny and original. Compared to the big step-counter monster-catching game, my biggest pro to this game is that you don’t have to have the app open on walks. You can just reap the benefits later when you’re ready to sit down and play, or just chase a few monsters without needing to constantly watch your phone during your walk. There are opportunities for paid features in the game, but they are unobtrusive and I don’t feel limited by not paying and not watching many ads. Combat is enjoyable with a good variety of attack patterns from each monster and many options for how you build your team. I do hope to see a greater variety of monsters and obstacles/challenges as the game grows.
I originally was walking to lower my blood pressure but was always using so many excuses on why not to go on walks. Playing this as I was walking I noticed in my neighborhood that there was garbage all over my neighborhood so while I’m trying to earn steps to clear the fog in the game I’m taking steps to clear the garbage on the sidewalks in my neighborhood. The game is a lot of fun. The graphics I think looks rad. It reminds me of Pokemon but keeping it its own monsters at the same time. The music is alright. I have been playing for almost a whole day and I haven’t seen any bugs so far. I like that it has a story. It makes me want to walk more so I can see what’s next in the story line.
I like the game. I really do. It’s a great way to utilize my steps as a source of currency. My wife has to go on frequent walks and I’ve recommended this to her to make them more entertaining. Having said that, there is something wonky with the base. I am stuck on the hypnostriker level because I can’t get my base quest working at all. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app. I’ve restarted. I’ve tried on and off WiFi. It shows the option to build or upgrade but just sits there when I click. And since those are tied into level progression, I’m stuck. I’m also losing steps every day because I can’t store them properly and I can’t progress to use them. This is on an iPhone 16 pro. Holding out hope for the next update to help.
I really really enjoyed the game that is the predecessor to this one, and I was very excited to try Monster Walk when it dropped last year. I think it is a super fun game, I love the idea, and it makes a huge difference in my daily step count. I really like all the features and changes that have been added in to this app compared to Where They Live. My only problem is I have had issues with this app working properly from the very beginning. Sometimes I delete it, wait an update or two, and come back. But I am still experiencing crashes and quite a few game breaking bugs, such as my vaults disappearing when trying to build or upgrade them, etc. Still a fan, still love the concept, but really hoping it becomes consistently playable soon.
I love that you get a few steps in the beginning to kick off the game cause now all I want to do is go walking to get more steps to progress more! The characters are so cute and I love the fact there’s no paywall for anything! I love how there’s also a step limit so it reminds me to take a lil break in between! A few just game feature have been annoying like sometimes an auto zoom and a button being hard to click, BUT nothing crazy. Genuinely amazing and best walking app i’ve tried! I’ve tried so many and they’re all paywalled with good features! I love this game and it seems like it has a lot of effort and thought put into it!
This game is fun and all but it would be more beneficial for people if the trees, rocks and berries would respawn after a certain time (maybe 30 mins to 1 hour) that way people can farm them from each stages instead of getting so little from our bases which take FOREVER. A couple times I've experienced a stage im currently on be fully explored when I haven't explored it and the stage I'm currently on is the exact same layout as the previous stages. So for example im on "Burntree Desert" and I haven't fully explored it yet but it shows the layout of "The Geyser"
Early on, it was fun. A bit light on plot, but fun. Now that I’m several stages and days in, the bugs are starting to show. Daily challenges do not reset (so once you clear them, that’s pretty much it); daily rewards don’t always double if you watch an add (the 14 day monster reward in particular); and increasingly things start bugging out. Trying to upgrade spots in the base, or even just harvesting them, can cause them to ‘disappear’. Which then means that overworld travel is likely to start bugging. To the point that closing the app and restarting is that only way to do anything. And then it happens again. And again. And again. What began as a fun game, I’m starting to regret playing. Hopefully the devs fix these issues soon.
I like the ideas presented here, and the bullet hell style battle system. The UI needs to be improved quite a bit and the RPG mechanics could definitely benefit from being fleshed out. But based on how often updates are getting pushed out it seems like the devs are active in trying to make the game better, and I’m optimistic. Can’t wait to see where y’all take this game.
