Mind the Door is less of a 'game' in the traditional sense and more of a digital art installation about anxiety and futility. It’s incredibly bold to release something this simple on the App Store, and honestly, it’s quite refreshing. In an era where every game is begging for your attention with battle passes and daily rewards, Mind the Door just sits there and says, 'Pick a door.' It’s brutal and uncaring.
The sound design is what really carries it. The echo of your footsteps and the heavy thud of the doors creates a thick atmosphere of dread. Every time you get it wrong, you feel a genuine sting of annoyance, not because the game is unfair, but because you *thought* you had a 50% chance and you still failed. It’s a fascinating social experiment. It’s definitely not for everyone—most people will delete it after five minutes—but if you appreciate 'anti-games' like Desert Bus or The Stanley Parable, you’ll find something hauntingly beautiful here.
Radically minimalist gameplay focused on a single choice.
No tutorials, skill trees, or complex mechanics.
Atmospheric and eerie 'Corridor' environment.
Instant restart for high-speed replayability.
Psychological narrative elements told through environment and failure.
While the game claims to be pure choice, observant players may notice subtle auditory or visual cues that change between doors. Pay close attention to the environmental sounds and the timing of the door animations to see if you can beat the odds.
The core gameplay loop is instant. You walk down a hallway, reach two doors, and tap one. If you survive, the hallway continues. If you die, you start over. The goal is to see how many doors you can pass through in a single run.
The game focuses on the experience of the journey through the corridor, though persistent players may find narrative shifts after enough successes.
I'm not certain, so i don't want to discredit the creators for their work. Something about the UI and the text they've included in the game feels like ai was used to make it. I'm not a fan of ai, and maybe it'd be fine if it was used a bit, but if i'm right about how it was used, then it feels like too much for me. It makes me wonder how much of the game was made utilizing ai. Possibly even the whole game was generated (doubt it to that extent). Again, i could be mistaken (and i hope so), but still. The voice acting/narrator(?) could also be an ai voice. I couldn't find credits to a VA anywhere. Tbh, an ai voice isn't that bad, but if it were to be used i'm more comfortable with the classic text-to-speech that sounds bad lol. But hey, I could just be too behind the times here. Also, again, if the creator really did make this and put lots of time and effort into this then props to you/you guys!!!!!! The game itself is enjoyable, and i'd like to hope that ai wasn't used for what i listed, so i'll still give it 4 stars just in case. thanks for reading this 👍
Great game, but you should put a warning about not playing if you have heart issues, or are prone to heart attacks, or other things related to that. I also recommend not playing if you do not want to get paranoia. Just so people know, THIS GAME WILL MAKE YOU PARANOID, AND WILL GIVE YOU A HIGH HEART RATE. However, this IS a great game, just could be dangerous to the wrong people. Also, all you people saying it’s Ai and filled with adds can burn in a hole. You might think it’s Ai because of the way it sounds and looks, but if I were making a game like this, that’s exactly what I would do. The subtle creepyness and sense of impending doom are actually human made, and a really good idea. They were truly done really well, and are a classic idea many try, but very few succeed. This game has taken that above and beyond, and it ended up very well. It was not made by AI, and there are,as far as I can tell, NO FORCED ADDS. so all the people saying there are can poke a nanodragon hive. Thanks for reading, -Sea
UPDATE: 4/30 This game is near perfect, just one thing… The doors that “stick” can get irritating when they occur anywhere from 2-5 times in a row! I find myself almost rage quitting because of that lol! I get that the sticking door generate suspense, but 5 seconds of opening a door is way too long in a game like this! But otherwise, the game is continuing to improve! I can’t wait to see what comes next! 😍 UPDATE - 4/19 Upgraded my review from 4 to 5 stars. This game is incredible! It’s perfect for those of us who can’t afford paid games, and it’s so wonderful and addictive! It’s only getting better and better! 😍 Original Review: Only cons so far, but they’re important: 1) My phone will gradually heat up, and I’m forced to stop playing to allow my phone to cool down. 2) Also, the game has some ads, some forced, but most are optional for more rewards. This game is amazing, but the forced ads are, of course , annoying. At least the ads don’t interfere with gameplay, but they can be very hard to exit out of… Pros: 1) It’s MUCH deeper than just picking a door! There are definitely clues and hints and the longer you play, the better you’ll get at using the clues! I haven’t needed any hints yet, but I’m glad we get them! 2) All in all, this game is insanely addictive! I keep telling myself “Just one more room, one more corridor, one more door…” Conclusion: Download this game, folks… The Corridors are always waiting!
This game is genuinely so creative, I downloaded it thinking it would just be a simple choice game but there’s an actual pattern and strategy to it that throws me off sometimes (a lot). the ads are also done in a way that don’t make the gameplay unbearable and their actually integrated into the games plot. Actually this entire game feels like I’m secretly in the mind of a method actor who won’t break character and it’s really fun. 10/10 would recommend but you need to give it a chance and think about your choices to get the hang of it.
I was a bit skeptical at first given the reviews about forced ads and random crashes, but have yet to run into either issue so far. Something about this game really pulls me in and keeps me hooked! Always love a roguelike with permadeath and upgrades for the next run, this is such a refreshing new take on the genre. The ONLY qualm I have with this game is that it does in fact overheat my phone, as mentioned in a review or two, but aside from that, I can’t find a single thing I’d change!
I only got the game a few days ago but I’ve already been on it everyday when I don’t want to go on social media. The concept is fun and the idea of the different doors and helpers that could also appear along the way is cool! The only thing is that the daily challenge doesn’t feel like a daily challenge and instead just like any other run but great game overall!
I like the idea behind this game, and it really has the makings of a great game. It just isn’t quite fleshed out enough. I made it through about two runs before I muted the volume because the narration is too frequent and gets annoying on long runs. After about 3 hours of playing I got a run up to about 470 and by about door 300 I just felt kind of bored by it. There needs to be some more variety and things to do because as it is, I had fun but am fine if I never play it again. Good concept, would love to see it fleshed out, but 3/5 for now
Having a lot of fun with this one but the last two times I got a longer run (around floor 82) the game crashed unexpectedly, which ended my run and didn’t give me any condolences. Note: The dev is currently fixing this. Changed rating from 3 to 5 stars since the rest of the game is awesome and the issue should be fixed soon
