Our Expert Score

87/100

Mega Mall Story 2 is Kairosoft doing what they do best: creating an incredibly addictive, charming, and surprisingly deep management sim. If you played the first one, the sequel adds everything you wanted—more store types, vertical expansion, and even 'bus stops' and 'subways' to manage your customer flow.

The pixel art is as cozy as ever, and there’s a genuine sense of pride in watching your tiny mall grow from a single floor to a massive skyscraper filled with 'Combo' stores that boost each other’s popularity. It’s a perfect mobile game because it’s easy to play in short bursts, but the 'just one more upgrade' loop will frequently eat up hours of your time. It’s wholesome, fun, and mechanically very sound.

The Ultimate Mall Simulation App

There are a few things I like about this game: the cute/unique graphics, the constant rewards, and the monstrous size of the mall. All of this comes together in a game that allows to have fun constructing your own mall. There are many stores and attractions you can build and the art for each one is done amazingly; whether it’s an arcade, an indoor ski hill or a movie theater. The customers that you will meet along the way are all interesting and varied as well. One thing is for sure, if you download this app you will have a great time! :D

Great sequel

I was a big fan of the first mega mall story, I played it three years ago and it was my gateway to kairosoft games. Changes from the first game include a new way of unlocking stores (buy them with hearts) as well as a new engine, some new shops and multi-level shops that add a bigger element of thought to planning out your mall. I am very glad that this is a paid release rather than F2P, since after playing this there’s no way I could go back to the first game.

Can’t stand new look

I enjoy many Kairosoft games and loved the first Mega Mall, but I just can’t get into this one mainly due to the graphics. It’s not the classic Kairosoft graphics and interface. Instead of a cute, pixelated, 2D look, this one is very sleek and overbearing. It loses charm for me and I find it to be very obnoxious to simply play the game and navigate the menus. Part of Kairosoft’s appeal for me is familiarity mixed with fresh ideas and new mechanics, and if I didn’t know, I wouldn’t think this was a Kairosoft game. I don’t doubt the mechanics and upgrades from the first game are good, but I can’t get past the new graphics. I’ll be sticking with classic looking Kairosoft games!

im a bit let down
Wed Jul 13 2022 Excited but cautious

ive been an avid kairosoft fan since i was 10 years old. i’m 22 now and still replay old favorites as well as try out new kairosoft games regularly. i have to admit that for the price, this game is a bit disappointing. it’s not nearly as challenging as other kairosoft games which has left me feeling unsatisfied. it is very repetitive and the UI could be greatly improved to match that of their other games. there is not enough depth to this game to keep me hooked. it feels like i’m just running through the motions. not immersive at all compared to their other games.

This is the Kairosoft I love and miss.

These $4.99 purchases started years ago, and inspired me to network with others to help other fans. But then the games slowed down...and then we got trashy free to play games for years. This game is why I first fell in love with Kairosoft and want to see more of now. This game gave me plenty of challenges and fun for a few days—something the true Kairofans desire. Keep these full games churning and you’ll see your fan base grow back.

I’ve been playing games made by kairosoft for years, and I have loved every single one. This one being my favorite. It’s got so many things to do, along with tons of attention to detail along with thrilling gameplay. Thankyou guys for making such wonderful games, I hope there’s so much more to come!

Fun little puzzle management jammer

Great little time killer... there’s a couple layers to it that, until you grasp, the whole thing might seem kind of obtuse despite looking really cutesy and simple. Once you understand the deeper mechanics, the fun becomes seeing how much you can manipulate the stats to building your best mall. I gave 4 stars as I don’t see much replay value, and the challenge evaporated once I discerned the relationships between stores, floors, and customers. Good game, no regerts playing 🥳

One of the last great ios companies

Thank you for a sequel where the original took up plenty of my time. I will continue to buy every $4.99 game you produce. There is so much pay to win content out here. You choose to stick to your roots, and provide us with endless replay value games. Keep being great. P.S. basketball in english would be great!
