Match Solitaire takes the familiar layout of Solitaire and introduces a matching mechanic. Instead of sorting by suit and rank, you match cards of the same value to clear them from the board. This creates a deeply strategic experience where every move can either open up new possibilities or trap you in a corner.

85/100

Match Solitaire is a brilliant deconstruction of the classic card game that feels both nostalgic and entirely fresh. By stripping away the traditional 'descending order' rules of Solitaire and replacing them with a match-3 heart, the developers have created a puzzle experience that is far more strategic than it initially appears. You aren't just clearing the board; you're carefully managing the architecture of your stacks to ensure you don't bury the very card you need to complete a trio.

The visual presentation is minimalist and clean, which is exactly what a high-focus puzzle game needs. There's a certain 'zen' flow to the gameplay that makes it perfect for winding down, yet the higher difficulty levels provide a genuine mental workout. It’s one of those rare card games that rewards patience and foresight over mere luck of the draw. If you’re tired of the same old Klondike variations, this is a mandatory download.

Q&A

It requires a different type of strategy, but it's very easy to learn for anyone familiar with card games.

Not enough words for how good this app is!

I usually don’t write game reviews unless I’m trying to point out a UX improvement to developers, so it’s no surprise that it took me YEARS to get around to posting a review of this game. However the fact that I’m still actively playing a card solitaire game many years after download should clue you in that this is no ordinary game. The short review: This game is great for whenever you have 5-10 minutes and when you want to destress with something fun, cute and just challenging enough. The longer info: The play itself is super easy to learn and the gameplay has enough variety to make it entertaining. Some levels almost solve themselves, others seem impossible at first but are all the more satisfying when you realize you’ve cracked it. If a level seems impossible, you can use coins to purchase boosters, and while I’m not above buying coins to support the dev, it’s also not hard to earn coins in many ways if you don’t want to spend $$. I’ve gone through phases where I’ve played steadily and phases where I just knocked out the daily challenges. What really got me energized was finding the community on Discord that helps each other with the daily puzzles. Because of that community, I’ve gotten reenergized and I’m working towards finishing all 25K levels of the main game. I cant tell you enough how great this game is, but try it for yourself and you’ll see! BTW, purchasing the inexpensive upgrade to avoid ads is very handy.

Best solitaire game by far

I have played so many other solitaire games, and ended up quitting them for one reason or another (too easy, bored, too hard, stuck, etc.). I still have a couple I like and have kept, but this one has already become my favorite, and it is now my go-to game. It’s endlessly replayable. If I had to pick only one game to keep on my phone, it would be this one. That’s how good it is. There are tons of options and skill levels, so there’s something here for everyone. The art design is cool, and the app works smooth as butter, and hardly uses any battery. You can make IAPs, but you don’t have to. But I happily paid to remove ads to support this developer. This is how apps should be made and monetized. Thank you for such an awesome game! I like good match games and solitaire games, and this is by far the best of both. Well done!

Highly addictive but dizzying number of ads

Very fun game, I was immediately an addict. Challenging deals (playing on medium) and some hands seem impossible to solve but eventually it works out. The daily challenges can be killers, too, it took me days to get past one. The graphics and little animals are cute. It’s easy to figure out the game play but tough to develop a strategy. Somehow, I set a world record on one level but either I missed it or the game didn’t tell me — that seems like it should have been a more prominent event. I only noticed it later in my stats. The most prominent thing in the game, unfortunately, are the ads. In addition to the ads in between every level, there are banner ads. Some ads are 30 seconds long. It’s a lot, even for a free game.

If you love puzzles...

It looks like a card game, but is actually a puzzle game in disguise. Easy to learn, but tough to master! Different levels (even of the same type) require different strategies, so it’s never boring, and with the newest features you can basically pick your difficulty (use hints or power ups on hard levels, challenge yourself to beat the world record on easier ones). Plus, the design is beautiful, the developer is amazingly helpful and welcoming to suggestions, and there’s a community of players on the discord to share tips and challenge each other. A must-play for lovers of puzzle games.

Looks nice plays poorly

I played 10-15 hours and spent $4 to remove ads before deleting. I’ve played a lot of the iOS solitaire games and they are for the most part poorly designed shovelware so this one caught my eye. The design is great, everything looks and feels nice. Also, the ads are relatively unobtrusive and I didn’t run into any that displayed adult content or automatically opened the App Store. From there, though, the actual game is pretty unsatisfying. The gameplay is unfortunately more trial and error than logic, so more difficult levels come down to replaying rather than thinking through them. There is a tension between removing cards and making matches, but the inability to move your matches again means that you either guess right, or guess wrong and have to try again. A generous undo button helps, but also reinforces the trial and error nature of the core gameplay. The game is also incredibly poor at introducing new mechanics- they are explained but the initial level is so basic you aren’t forced to confront and understand how they work, so when those same mechanics show up in more difficult levels you are faced with trial and error until you learn them yourself. The design and presentation of the app itself is top notch but unfortunately it can only hide the poorly designed solitaire variant for so long.

Creative and fun, found a glitch

I just started playing (just got Twyla) and so far it’s good! Ads are pretty reasonable, but there’s a glitch. If you want to replay a level, you hold the level button down until the levels pop up. When I select a past level, it won’t let me choose the level - it goes to a random unlocked level I can’t play! It’s annoying, but a minor detail. I’ll update this review as I continue, but now it’s a solid 4 stars! UPDATE: Glitch is fixed, but I can’t figure out how to purchase a bundle with coins! It always tries to charge me money! I’ve contacted the developer twice, and so far no response. That brings my rating down to 2 stars, which is a shame! Why give us coins if we can’t use them??? Please respond so I can rate the game higher! 2ND UPDATE: Thanks to the developer for getting back to me today and explaining the coins/bundles to me! 3RD UPDATE: Sadly, the only way to get lots of coins is through the daily challenges. They start off reasonable on Monday, but by Saturday, it’s almost impossible to win which is VERY frustrating! Good gameplay, but will make you rage quit after a while! I recommend this game with extreme caution!

best solitaire game on the app store!!

this developer is criminally underrated. these games are not only fun to play, snappy, and satisfying, but also absolutely beautiful to look at. the art style is cohesive and simple which compliments the gameplay really well. the difficulty settings allow a lot of replay-ability and I really appreciate the legibility of the cards. their other game, drop solitaire I think, is also incredible! seriously cannot wait for this dev to release more works like this, truly unique. my one and only note is pleaseee make more!!

Very nice balance, great game!

As you progress this game slowly becomes more challenging, and at just the right pace. I get it now, the trick is to find the right balance between stacking and matching. Bonus: the design and style of the game is charming and simple, in a very good way. I love how you can choose to play games in levels of slowly increasing challenge, OR , you can jump directly to a group of puzzles set at a specific challenge level. Sometimes I feel like a super challenge, and other times I just want to spin off a few easy puzzles to kill some time. Just brilliant!
