As a brand new player I have found this app to help me improve my game which helps me be a better player in person. I play by myself and it has helped me learn the rules (i.e no joker in NEWS) by telling me it's not allowed and then me and the bots return to the game with me trying something else. I have improved my ability to pick which section of the card to play by deciding first, then checking the suggested hands to see if I'm on track. This helps me learn to look at more sections of the card. I have improved my speed in playing the game which means that I am better in person and even though I'm new, I am welcomed by experienced players at their table. I also love the card tracking which shows me my win/loss record by section which also gives me inspiration to branch out to other sections on the card. LOVE IT!!! And I get my mahjong fix daily when I don't have any people to play with in person.
“The Scrabble Addict” wrote a review on March 12 and I agree with it completely. I am new to Mah Jongg and was interested in playing after watching 3 out of 4 one hour classes online offered by AARP. I then attended 2 or 3 classes at a local center, but was constantly helping me choose which category and hand to pick. I then read a book from the library on how to play which recommended this app. I started playing on the app daily. This really helped me become more familiar with the card and the various hands. I love the offering of different choices when trying to decide which hand to play. The ladies at the Activity Center couldn’t believe how fast I learned how to play and bumped me up from the beginner’s class to the intermediate group after only 3 days! I highly recommend this app to anyone who wants to learn the game.
I would give more than 5 stars if I could. The set up and options are unlike any other app. The developer is very hands on and receptive to input. His story is amazing so make sure you read it. He constantly updates the app with new features that you’ll always love. You get to vote on certain things he’s developing. The Mahjong group that I play with love this app. The features are endless and only growing daily. He constantly updates about new things in the app “News” section. You’re able to adjust the level of difficulty so this app is perfect for beginners, as well as well seasoned Mahjong Players. If you are a beginner, you have the option to use the “suggested hands“ so that you can develop your skill set. You don’t need four people to play, but you can make a room and invite other people. Again, the choices in this app are endless. Even the names and voices of other players. One of the things that surprises me is that he just now started putting ads on. You can play this game for free. However, I chose to purchase it because he deserves it for all his hard work. The annual subscription is minimal. Again, you have to read the bio on the developer. He thanks his mother for all her support. What’s not to love about that?
This is the best if not, one of the best Mahjong games online. The versatility to play the different styles and practice is fantastic. Ability to connect with others to actually play a live game is a plus. If you are new to Mahjong, the guidance/blockage alerts help you to follow the rules and more importantly – it helps you to see other combinations your tiles might be more suited for. As you advance, the same features allow you to check your own skills as you try to size up your opponents/figure out what combinations they might be going for. The annoying advertisements all games have, are brief and easy to get out of. I play in flight when there’s no Wi-Fi or Internet. Absolutely LOVE this mahjong game!!!!
The words below describe my experience perfectly. I couldn’t have said it better! I also want to say the I get a speedy respectful response from the developer each time I email with a comment or question. This free site allows the player to look at possible hands during the Charleston and throughout the game. If another player (or bot) has exposed tiles you can also click on their hand and see what hands they are going for. These features alone have helped me become familiar with the card very quickly. I also like that I can make so many adjustments such as the voices of the bots and how the tiles are arranged at the beginning of the game.
I have seen people playing Mahjong at coffee shops and restaurants and I was intrigued. So I did some research then got a Mahjong set for my hubby for Christmas. After reading the instructions we watched a few videos. This app was highly recommended. AMAZING app with settings to choose many different types of Mahjong games. We chose American Majong. My hubby and I are learning and practicing together at home before playing with others. This app has decreased that time tremendously! I feel confident to start playing with friends very soon!
Just learned how to play mahjong in October and my friends can’t believe how good I am already. This game helps pick up your speed and the “history” option is fabulous! I’ve been replaying games with different strategies. Great learning tool! When I started learning to play, it was strongly recommended that I practice online AND learn the card. I did both and I learned how to play pretty well and I play quickly. I still have trouble figuring out how to play defensively, however but that will come with time. Best thing of all, it’s free!
I adore playing mahjong, and I rarely have friends around who are willing to play with me. This app totally fits the bill. I love that I can switch it up to reflect the style of play I prefer (yay Chinese mahjong!) and that I can customize the tile tops. I’m also using it to learn how the scoring works, which was something completely nebulous to me before I started using the app. Mad props to the developer, who was very responsive when I had a question. Definitely worth picking up and paying to remove the ads.
MahJong Practice is pattern practice for real American MahJong with Charleston. Play fun, quick games offline, anywhere, anytime. No internet connection needed.
