Our Expert Score

85/100

Mad Skills Motocross 3 is the pinnacle of side-scrolling physics racers. While it looks simple on the surface, the depth of its physics engine is what keeps the competitive community thriving. It's a game about weight management and throttle control; landing a jump slightly off-balance or mistiming a wheelie can be the difference between a podium finish and a face-full of dirt.

The bike customization is extensive, but more importantly, the bike 'feel' is customizable. You can tune your suspension and power delivery to match your riding style. The global multiplayer 'Jam' events are where the game truly shines, offering a constant stream of new tracks and ghost riders to race against. It captures the frantic, muddy, and high-adrenaline spirit of motocross better than most full-3D simulators. It’s easy to pick up, but the skill ceiling is somewhere in the stratosphere.

Great but more I'd like to see in the future.

Me personally the game is great however there is more I'd like to see. Firstly some supercross features would be nice in the next MSMX adding turns that would switch the direction you go in. Secondly being able to change the direction you whip in because not everyone goes sideways in the same way. Doing that would add variety and a more you feel when playing. Thirdly a much more gradual progression because after bike 2 the progression between bikes becomes way too long, and can have people play for a couple days and quit right after because it just takes too long. You could have a quicker way to make money early game because a lot of stuff feels restricted due to the jam events requiring a way higher level bike than you already have. Finally, I'd like to see some controller support and being able to change keybinds because of how I said with the whips and everyone plays differently.

Pretty good! Just a couple things…

I’ve been playing for about a month now. As a general review, I like this game! Lots of game modes to enjoy, good characterization and mechanics that allow you to get better over time. I’ve seen a lot of people complain about PTW, but the game has a random daily rewards that gives you in-game currency like every 7 hours. I just get on twice a day to collect the daily rewards in the shop. Also, the MX Factory challenges give you gear and bike decals upon completion. So really, you can customize your rider early in the game as long as you know where to look for free. Also, there isn’t anything so far that I’ve seen you pay for that’s not just cosmetics, so I’m not sure what exactly is the pay to win component everyone is mentioning… My main complaints are two things: the ads are the first. I had the game no more than 2 days and decided to buy the ad remover (my only purchase so far). That on its own made the experience way better. It was giving me an ad after every single track completion, which quickly became annoying. But secondly, the wheelie scrub tutorial is horribly difficult to complete. While the other tutorials have the NPC trainer “mess up” a small section giving you a chance to beat it, the wheelie scrub requires you to be near perfect compared to the rest. I’ve been stuck on it for a week and I’m starting to get frustrated. But other than that, I like the game!

I like it a lot! Just a couple things

I remember when this first came out and you had a lot of ads in the game and people did not like the new bike earning system and slightly pixel-y graphics, but you read every review and took suggestions and creating what I believe is truly the best simulation of dirt bike racing on a phone. I have had no issues besides my controls messing up randomly, (Rarely) but I think two things could change, but if you don’t end up changing anything I am fine with it, just suggesting: The first thing I think could be changed is indeed the cash for the bikes. I feel like it was more fun to have to challenge yourself to different things for bikes, instead of taking time for coins for almost everything. My second and last thing I think you could change is the shape of the helmet for different gear sets and brands. I personally think the shape of the helmet is kinda ugly, (no offense) but I don’t really care too much about it, however I think it would be cool. If you happened to have read this, I’m sorry for adding such a long review, so have a nice day and thank you for reading. :) (EDIT) So the game is still the same, still a little pixel-y but it’s fine. I made this edit because I recently deleted the game in extreme anger and when I tried to log back in it gave me an endless loading screen, this has happened to me twice and I don’t know why

Lured in with a great game.

At first I thought it was a great game. However once you reach bike 4 the cost of the upgrades exponentially increase as well as the next bike. At 22,000 coins and competing in bike 5 territory on bike 4 you can win 30 coins per win. Do the maths….. that’s 733 races you have to WIN to be able to afford bike 5. Then the astronomical amounts to upgrade of course…. And no more tracks unlock to get more per race because all the bikes you compete against are 3-500 above your lower class bike. If your perfect you might make it to bike 6 territory (competing against bike 6 riders). You won’t consistently win enough to make it worth while for the extra 5 coins…. So you’ll grind forever like I did for bike 4…. At like 12,000…. That’s a bargain I guess…. I should also mention that they don’t give you $ amounts for what coins/gold cost. Just a “click here for more”. They have bundles… That money would be better spent putting fuel in your actual bike…. It would be cheaper and probably more fun. The last game I hit the pay wall on I deleted. Even after paying they still wanted more to be competitive…. The creators need to get a bucket of sand and proceed to grab handfuls to pound up their own asses…. Was a great game though…. If you want to mortgage your house to play.

Great Start But Some Notable Quibbles

This is my favorite game and off to a very nice start, improved from MSM 2. I like a lot of the new features and game modes, but just have a few notable complaints. 1) The bikes are way way way too expensive, like not even close to reasonable. I have pro, complete every challenge, enter every jam, challenges frequently, don’t buy any gear at all, and don’t mod bikes out at all and still don’t even have enough to buy bikes by the end of a series when they are “recommended.” Let alone fully upgrading them which not doing so totally inhibits on certain Jams and Championships. Duels should also give out coins. 2) There need to be more unlimited Jams, to quit penalizing players like me just trying to get all 7 bikes. 3) I love the option to switch between 2 and 4 stroke, but it would be nice if the 2 stroke was not a puny sounding 125 from MX vs ATV Reflex. The 4 stroke sounds nice but I’m really gunning for a nice throaty 250 2 stroke especially for the fast bikes which clearly couldn’t be a 125. Also, they all have 250 2t pipes. 4) It would be nice it whips did anything other than the “whipple” in Lily Pad, as scrubs are very needed in this game. The developer talked about this coming so that is good. 5) I enjoy the challenges, but a few of them just get so unreasonable and you honestly have to get lucky. Especially towards the California series, like doing 30 seconds of wheelie in a complete rhythm section, or need to do 3 perfect brakes and three PERFECT wheelie scrubs to even beat the CPO, let alone beat them by 2.50 seconds. With the right updates, this game has the potential to go to the moon, and I’m excited to see what’s coming next! But please, God forbid, do not do an update with bike 8 that’s already even more astronomical than the already completely unaffordable bikes now. Thank you.

Money pit

I have been playing msmx since the very first game and I can say that if 2 had the ability to whip like this game it would be a no brainer that it’s a better game. What I’ve noticed with this game other than the fact that you practically have to spend money to actually enjoy/progress in the game, the whole upgrading bikes thing, having 2 currency’s, and instead of simply winning races to move to the next bike you have to complete the stupid challenges and with that it seems like the fun tracks have the dumbest challenges while the more difficult tracks have the easy ones. On occasion ofc. Some of the challenges you get presented with make absolutely no sense and I think the game was better when all you had to do is win races. Not do a double back flip to a 2 second wheelie. Also with the challenges sometimes it’s impossible to completely all of them at once while still winning the race. This game has many flaws that plenty of people notice and comment on still the devs don’t seem to care, aslong as they get their money right. I see the potential without a doubt but the game still has so much refining to be done.

For a while now the world was watching me in a way I couldn’t possibly have expected it was going on and then it started raining again so it started to get really hot so we started getting a lot more rain in here so we had a little more sun in there so we got some rain in there so it started to get to where it was supposed be and I got some more sun but I was still in bed so it didn’t really bother us and it started to rain so we just started getting out and then I went and got a shower so it was kind a bit warmer and I didn’t get a shower but it didn’t really feel good and then we got up to the house so we had a good night sleep in and I got a little tired but it wasn’t bad I just felt really bad I was tired but it didn’t hurt at the end but I just feel really good I was just really sore I just feel tired I understand and I’m not really feeling well I don’t feel good but I’m tired but I’m not feeling like I’m tired so I just feel like I’m tired

I love this game, but it’s got a huge flaw…

Firstly, this game is a lot of fun, to be frank. The mechanics are great as a newbie but allow for a great amount of progress to hit new skill ceilings you once thought impossible. I really enjoy seeing progress in my skills as I played MSMX2 and I see how that skill transferred over. The customization is a little bit stingy as the main worry for currency should be buying bikes not cosmetics but oh well spend money how you want. That’s a small issue compared to the bike progression. By far. I love this game as much as the next person, but man if I’m not upset with this system. Rather than simply a pay to win system, the bike progression once you get to bike 5 is absolutely absurd. I’m about to whip out a calculator to see how much you’d have to play to unlock even the second to last bike. I’m not bad at this game by any means. In jams when everyone is forced to use the same bike, I end up top 10% without fail. However, apply that to jams where everyone uses a different bike, and I end up in 25th percentile. I have spent countless hours on this specific jam alone and the rewards for 20th percentile seem really cool, but it’s always in vain. Most of the time, the tracks allow for a lot of scrubbing and technical things that mostly remove the drastic speed difference with bikes. But the opposite is the case sometimes. It’s not a great move to make expanses of track that are basically speed tests that allow for minimal skill to be displayed. I’d have to perfectly scrub every jump in the level with Bike 5 to progress at all in the jam, at least to the 20th percentile. It’s draining and definitely begins to feel like a cash grab at one point. Not even just that. The versus sometimes are just unfair because someone has a better bike. Please make it just a tad easier to obtain money or stop making jams with basically straight roads as tracks. Please for my sleep schedule…
