My favorite game on mobile!
Wed Oct 10 2018 Mr dr prof patrick

I loved this game when it came out on DS, and i’ve been waiting for so long for it to come out on mobile. Finally that day has come! This game may seem pretty expensive at $10, but if your a puzzle fan like myself then its well worth the money. The game is almost identical to how I remember it on the DS, aside from a few additions from the developers (all good btw). I only have two requests to make. 1) That after finishing the story, the remaining puzzles be moved the house; i’ve finished the story but am missing a few of the puzzles and don't know where to find them. 2) I’ve collected several (not all) of the puzzle solving charms, but i’m still not sure what they do, or if there just a new collectable thing for fun, which is fine if they are. Could there be some more description for them? Aside from that the game is awesome and I love playing it. Also, I don't recall if the weakly puzzles section was on the DS or not but I also really like that and if its new then I think its a great addition to the game (but save some puzzles for the next game 😉). Again, great game and well worth it!!!

Alright I’m gonna be real - Professor Layton is one of the best video games ever for those that love brain teasers and FANTASTIC plot and storyline. Sometimes the riddles are easy af and sometimes I’m stuck for three days. The music is wonderful - MUST BE LISTENED WITH EARBUDS OR YOU WONT HEAR IT - but once you pop those earbuds in it takes me back. I really enjoy the way the game has been adapted to fit the iPhone screen. They stayed true to the original for graphics, storyline, play, and the split screen divider. Absolutely worth the 10 bucks and I will love this game forever. Thank you for making it into an app! Should you do more I will 100% buy all the installments. Thanks for creating this!!!

Not a good first impression

This is a tentative review since I just started playing yesterday; if I get a significantly different impression with more play I’ll update again later. Lovely graphics, pretty slow-paced so far (story-based, which is fine, but I’m not finding the story all that interesting yet and I think the player is supposed to identify with the assistant but I’m just not feeling it), puzzles not that good so far, maybe better for children than adults. I’m extremely annoyed that the game doesn’t automatically save progress unless you click on the suitcase, when I opened the game today I’d lost all my progress from yesterday and had to start over. Overall plays more like a gaming station video game than a mobile app — i get the impression it’s intended for longer sessions, and again it doesn’t automatically save progress.

Amazing game!

A lot of the people playing this game will get it because they were fans of the series already. Hopefully advertising gets to the point where more people can see this series! For those who haven’t played any PL games, this is the first in a series of 8 games (1 being PL vs AA). They’re the best puzzles games you can play in which there’s an actual story, in my opinion. I don’t want to say too much, but the character development is really well done, and the twists are amazing. Hopefully they continue to port the series over to iOS. Diabolical Box/Unwound Future on iOS? Heaven. I’d love to be able to have this entire series on my phone.

Reliving my childhood

I remember when this game first came out for the DS. I loved every moment. Every puzzle, every character, every bit of mystery. For a 12 yr, it was an excellent challenge. Now seeing that I can play it on my phone all these years later, it warms my heart. I’m still getting these happy feelings when I play. See it in HD and little extra cutscenes make it even more exciting. I feel like I’m 12 again playing this for the first time. I love this whole series; it is one of my favorite game series of all time and I’m happy to be able to play it again. So much love for this

LOVE IT!!!

I have been a major Layton fan ever since I can remember, and this game is just as charming as the original, if not even more so. I also love how the charms from the Katrielle Layton anime opening are in this game. It makes me think that Level 5 is going to continue porting the other fames to mobile in order to slowly unravel the truth of Katrielle’s identity. Anyway, I digress. If you are a big puzzle fan, or are just looking for an captivating and engaging story, this game is definitely for you! Haven’t gotten into the world of Layton yet? Now’s the perfect time!

Could use a bit more work

This is a fun game. I’ve played a couple of the old Layton series and it was fun to see them remake it. The one thing I didn’t like though is that they structured the game really awkwardly for DS and just transferred the game like so into IOS. The screen is too small if you keep your phone vertically for the cutscenes so I find it particularly strange having to switch my phone vertically and then horizontally. Looking for things to inspect as you walk is a bit awkward since things are so small. I personally wish they had gone a bit further to make it seem like this was actually a phone game rather than a very obvious rework.

Puzzle 76: A Tile Square is misleading, and, although it is clever, the correct answer is actually wrong due to the wording of the question. A square can be created using only five tiles, by laying one tile down and stacking the other four on their 0.5 inch side, against the 12” bottom side of the tile. This way, the four 0.5 inch tiles add to the 10 inch sides to make them 12 inches. From a top view, this creates a “square.” Perhaps ask for a cube? Or change the puzzle entirely. Big fan of the game, though. Heaps of fun. Will change to 5 Stars once this is fixed or addressed.
