Koikoi is a traditional Japanese card game played with Hanafuda (flower cards). The goal is to form special card combinations called 'yaku' to earn points. When you form a yaku, you can either stop the round to take your points or call 'Koikoi' to continue the game in hopes of scoring even more. This version features beautiful art and intuitive gameplay.

Koikoi (Hanafuda) is a beautiful digital implementation of the traditional Japanese card game. If you've never played Hanafuda, the art alone is worth the download—the 'flower cards' are gorgeous. This app does a great job of highlighting which cards in your hand can match those on the table, making it much easier for beginners to learn the 'suits' (months).

The strategic depth comes from the 'Koikoi' call itself—deciding whether to end a round early with the points you have or to keep going for a bigger score at the risk of your opponent stealing the round. The AI is quite competent, and the sound effects of the cards 'clacking' together provide a tactile satisfaction that makes the experience feel authentic.

Not like it's Google counterpart

I thought this was the iPhone version of a popular Google Play version that looks very similar. It's not. There are almost no controls. The game makes playable cards from your hand flash in a very annoying way and there's no way to turn it off.

Very poor Implementation

There is at least one scoring bug: does not double player score when over seven points but does double computer score 3hen over seven points. The options should be "Koi-Koi" and "Stop" not "continue" and "finish game" There game speed should alter the momentary pause when a card is played to the table not the speed at which cards fly from the deck. The _suggested play_ flashing is too intense and is distracting. Game does not display the point count when offering 'Stop or continue" A game consists of 12 hands not "12 games"
