Kingdom Maker is a refreshing departure from the cookie-cutter 4X strategy games that saturate the App Store. While it maintains the core loop of building, researching, and conquering, it adds a surprisingly deep layer of character-driven storytelling through its family tree and social systems. You aren't just managing a nameless kingdom; you are fostering a dynasty. The ability to marry off your nobles, breed specific traits, and watch your lineage expand adds a personal stake to the conquest that is usually missing in this genre.
The combat is also more interactive than its peers. Instead of just receiving a battle report, you can actually direct your troops in real-time on the battlefield, making positioning and unit types matter significantly. The humor is another standout—the game doesn't take itself too seriously, with witty dialogue and quirky character interactions that make the 'downtime' between wars genuinely entertaining. It's a massive game with a lot of moving parts, but it manages to feel accessible thanks to a very polished UI and a gradual introduction of mechanics.
Customizable Noble family tree and dynasty system
Real-time tactical combat on a massive scale
Expansive base-building and city customization
Persistent world with thousands of players
Start by focusing on your family tree. Marry your initial Nobles to partners with high 'Production' or 'Combat' stats. Children inherit traits from parents, so selective breeding is the fastest way to unlock high-tier bonuses for your kingdom's economy and military.
During a siege, don't just send all units at once. Use your infantry to hold the line while your archers pick off high-value targets. If the enemy has heavy cavalry, ensure your spearmen are positioned in the front to maximize defensive bonuses.
While you can play solo, joining an alliance is highly recommended for protection and access to endgame territory wars.
I’ve been playing this game for 6 mouths now, and I’ve yet to grow tired of it. This game is fun, interesting, and the graphics are not like anything I’ve seen especially with the most resent update. I do don’t know if it’s just me but I love to customize and role-play with my characters. With the most recent update I’m dying to see and us the new feature. I’ve been trying to see if their was a way to re-customize, but I don’t think their is one. And I think it would be cool if we got a chance to re-customize our family or at least the ones we started with just so we can get a chance to us the new update. Also I think it would also be cool if the characters could die of old age or of some sort of sickness that would through excitement to the game, because I know with myself I always feel bad sacrificing my people in the volcano. And lastly something I also thing could be really cool is if their was a feature where you could see the family tree of all the characters in the keep. I don’t know if it’s just me but I like to know who comes from who, who is with who. Overall the game is amazing and I love it can’t wait for future updates.
Started playing this game on a road trip and quickly became addicted. Haven’t put a single penny of actual cash into the game and I’m doing well, having a blast. Anyone who says you need to pay to do well in this game isn’t investing their time right. Time is just as valuable as money in this game. I was worried I’d start slacking once my vacation ended and I was back to work where I can’t be gaming on my phone but the game is built to accommodate pockets of away time. My progress slowed slightly but not enough to be frustrating. My only complaints with the game is that there seems to still be a lot of bugs/glitches - the most frustrating being the in game notifications; red dots showing up when I don’t actually have the resources to upgrade that item or train that unit. And sometimes no red dot showing up even when I do have the resources to train. A fun one I’ve noticed is a headless noble at various trading posts, decapitated head stuck in the sand, and when you click him suddenly a giant version of him appears. So giant only his feet up to his knees fit in the camera view. Anyway great game, keeps ya busy when you’re actively playing but allows you to schedule time away productively too. Sure spending money helps but isn’t necessary. I’d definitely recommend to others, and am hopeful the bugs will get fixed in time.
So far, I don’t really have any issues with this game. The gameplay is cool, learning isn’t hard, you get tons of speed ups by completing events and meeting goals, and the same thing with gold. A little bit of patience is needed, of course. You don’t rack up items that quickly but you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg. Caveat, I am entering the stage of the game where 1,3,5, 20 minute speed ups aren’t as useful unless you have a boatload of them. I just lost my shield you get before you hit level 10. So there’s a possibility I can get ransacked soon. Prior to losing your shield, you do have the ability to complete a ton of research and create a huge army, granted they are all level 1. However, you can rack up the ability to create weapons and body armor for your troops to help protect them and make them stronger. Once again though, they aren’t battle tested against stronger players, so it may all account for nothing. I couldn’t give this game 5 stars because I haven’t fought against stronger opponents and I couldn’t tell you if of people spend a lot of money on this game. I haven’t spent anything yet and I have achieved a lot so far. If you complete all the research you can before level 10, then you should stand somewhat of a chance. I would think anyway.
Unfortunately since Scopely took over the game has become all about spending money. They strive to make the game as difficult as possible for f2p so more and more people are forced to spend money. I’ve been playing this game for about a year now and at first it was awesome. There was one pack that was a double pvp damage pack that cost $100 and that was the only way you could get it, while that was a clear cash grab and most serious players were forced to buy it they had promised that eventually it would be accessible to f2p players and that was really the only clear cash grab at the time so it was fine. However, now that method has been released! Sounds amazing right! Well unfortunately rare rss are almost impossible to obtain you require 100 of the rare rss to get the double pvp pack and through the rate at which rare rss typically drop through my own experience (I received 3 rare sulphur in about 3-4 months) and several others with similar experiences it would take roughly 8 years to get the double pvp pack through f2p means. So basically u either play for 8 years or spend $100, but hey! Now the devs can claim that it can be acquired through f2p means! As amazing as this game was and its immense potential it’s a shame it turned into your typical cash grab city and army building game. If you have friends that play and you’re willing to spend around $500-$1000 I would say go for it but honestly for most people I wouldn’t recommend this game anymore.
The game graphics are amazing, I really like the way the mechanics and some of them I haven’t seen anywhere else. The issue for me is this game has the heaviest pay to win set up I’ve seen. You can buy items with real money that greatly improve your pvp. Some of them, I could not find any other way to get them so only with real money. I couldn’t find any explanations online on other ways to get them like completing quests etc. the devs have also set up a very toxic way of getting the resources you have to have to move forward. For example, bronze is required for a ton of enhancements and tier 2 troops. The resource nodes are extremely scarce and you have everyone constantly fighting over them. And the pay yo win players that have purchased stronger pvp power will let you start to farm and wait 30 mins or so and simply clean out everyone sitting on the node. This allows p2w players to not really have to farm. They let others do it and then constantly clean you out. For me.., this game is garbage. I understand that the devs need to make money. And I always spend money. Roughly a 100 dollars a month or more but these guys are very greedy and setting up toxic gameplay on purpose so you want to spend more to continue and compete with the player base. I’ll wait till someone creates something similar and hope they are not like these guys. I never leave reviews but fid here cause of how strongly I feel about what I wrote
If someone one day had the thought to combine, GOC, COC, and Sims, PVP is balance but also still freelance & adds a battle pass… this game is it. It hits every notch, nook and cranny you would want out of a game like this. The game is so immersive, and very addictive. Only thing I can say, the game is slightly buggy, but not enough to make anyone stop playing I’m sure. For example the Grand adventurers armor is missing the knife, or sometimes the sound effects let the arrow whistling when you get a message doesn’t always sound off, unless that’s a bug in itself… or sometimes the keyboard gets stuck in screen and you’ll have to restart app. But like I said all minor things. The game is huge!! And it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for!!! Keep up the great work!! I would also love to see more connections via Facebook, your own platform like how Clash has Supercell Account connections so you could play across pc maybe. Features like that also enable us to customize our banners more, like uploading images, or just adding more layers. 5 limits the creativity.
I really enjoyed this game at first, felt like there was always something to do and so much excitement with battles and character customization. However, this game is tailored to paying players and is quite irritating playing for free. The developers group shards (servers) together with absolute disproportional power, I’m talking 2x your power and 3-4 months ahead of you. Resources are limited, even when you farm for a few hours you still come up absurdly short, forcing you to buy $100 packs. Example: You need ~ 2,900 ‘service honors’ to train your armies and you get maybe 4-5 every enemy you kill. Not to mention the constant crashing every click you make during some hours. You can be mining all day with 6 armies and only get 2-4 of the rare materials you need, from what I heard it didn’t used to be like that, just another example of how they tailored the game to get you to buy packs. The people I’ve met in this game lack authority and power in their own life and climb leadership boards with their credit cards and bully passive players, they are as addicted to this game as they are a drug or substance. You’ll either lose interest in a few months or get suckered into spending your rent money. Please don’t respond “we value your feedback”
This game is so fun it made me quit playing a different game just so I would have more time to play this one. I personally love anything with customization options and player banner customization in this game is way too fun to mess around with. On top of that the grind in this game is actually enjoyable and the way you can attack other players with real time help from your alliance members amazed me. Being a free to play game I was surprised to see no adds and no over the top pay to win players. Yes there are helpful things that you can buy with real money but they are only things that you can easily get by grinding. And to top it all off, the community is absolutely incredible. Being a pvp/pve game with leaderboard and territories I was surprised to see that everyone is so kind to each other, even going so far as to speak a 2nd language in global chat just so that other players can better understand the conversation. I absolutely love whoever made this game because I’m having way to much fun with it and I hope you developers are having a lovely day.
