Battery life improvement & small bug fixes
Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge is the ultimate digital weighted blanket. In a world of high-stress gaming, this is a sanctuary in more ways than one. The watercolor art style is breathtaking, giving the entire experience a storybook feel that immediately lowers your blood pressure. Collecting frogs isn't just about 'getting them all'; it's about creating a beautiful home for them.
The environmental message is handled with a light, wholesome touch. Restoring the wetlands feels meaningful because you see the direct result—new flowers, cleaner water, and of course, more frogs. The breeding system is deep but never overwhelming, encouraging you to experiment with colors and patterns just for the joy of discovery. It is, quite simply, one of the most heartwarming games on the App Store.
Over 500 unique frogs to find
Refuge customization and decoration
Relaxing photography mechanics
Wholesome environmental message
Beautiful watercolor art style
Start by placing furniture and digging ponds. Different furniture attracts different types of frogs. Use your camera to document the frogs that visit and fill up your 'Frogedex'.
Breed your frogs to discover new colors and patterns. At the same time, work on the wetlands by planting crops that help restore the environment and provide resources for your refuge.
No, Kamaeru is designed to be a very slow, relaxing experience that you can play at your own pace.
I’m obsessed with this game. It’s so frog lovable so many cute characters and the objectives are really easy to follow. I do wish there was an option to make more pond areas and remove some rocks/ trees and more movability around the areas but it’s a really relaxing cute game. Not that expensive either considering how much you do for free and the amount of game play.
i love this game. it works completely fine. It didn’t overheat my phone and i had no issues playing it without a stylus on my phone screen. i actually don’t have anything negative to say about it, didn’t mind paying the 4.99 for the full version at all. it was well worth it. the game is cute and stimulating without being too much. it’s perfect for if you’re just trying to unwind. would def recommend it to anyone that is into these types of cozy games (and already have been)! great job to the creators/developers.
But my phone kept getting reeeally hot within maybe a couple minutes. Also, the frogs come by and disappear SO fast! I felt like I was really struggling to feed the cool rare ones, photograph them, and log them all in time. That’s no fun. When you see a cool one you haven’t seen before you don’t expect it to just vanish in a few seconds 🤷🏻♂️ I don’t know… it seems like a fun game, but it also requires a stylus, especially when installing things like water, plants, and furniture and stuff… otherwise my fingertips needed to become invisible. One or the other! Still, I enjoyed the art style A LOT!!
Found this the other day and cannot stop playing it. I paid for the full version after only a few hours of having the mini version. The graphics and aesthetics are so cute and cozy. I love the emphasis on the importance of maintaining high biodiversity. The only thing is that it can be a little buggy when other apps are open/when it’s running a while. Usually closing out the game and restarting it helps. Definitely get this game 🩷🩷
this game has been hard to put down! i played for several hours before purchasing the full version and it was worth it! took me about 9 hours to make it to reputation 35. after that, there are no objectives, but i still have many frogs to collect, maxing bioscores on all refuges, and completely decorating everything. ive had no issues with my phone overheating or battery life throughout gameplay. the only bug i noticed was while placing decor. whenever you click to add furniture, sometimes the item will spawn behind the menu and you have to exit out of editor mode and go back to fix it. i hope that the developers have plans to add to the game and add more objectives, but the current game by itself is still wonderful! thank you guys!! :) <3
This game is adorable:) as a 14 year old boy with big dreams of one day being an artist, this game makes me feel warm inside:) I love that you can take pictures of little frogs and make new ones, not to mention regrow their ecosystem! I can truly see all the effort put into the game, and as an artist the art style is amazing!! And the fact that this was made by a team of 2 people makes my jaw drop:) so said team of 2, if you see this, you guys are amazing!!!
I started with the free version and decided to get the paid version. Best 5 bucks I ever spent! The game is so much fun and so easy to understand. Amazing visuals and art style. I only wish I could take more photos of my frogs and have a large plot of land to create stuff. Overall it’s amazing and I highly recommend it!
This game seems really sweet so far, but there’s one major issue: it overheats and drains my phone battery VERY fast. My battery & phone are both in good condition and all my other apps were fully closed. I went from full battery to 20% in 20 minutes of playing and my phone got VERY hot. I’m concerned this could damage my phone. Please fix this! I want to play the game but right now I’m afraid to!
