Bug fixes.
In The Dog House is a masterclass in 'polished simplicity' that Nitrome is famous for. The core mechanic involves dragging and flipping rooms of a house to guide your dog to their bed. It sounds simple, but the level design quickly introduces variables like treadmills, fans, and vacuum cleaners that turn each stage into a complex spatial logic puzzle.
The presentation is absolutely top-tier for mobile. The pixel art is expressive, and the physics of the house flipping feel weighty and satisfying. One of the best aspects is the variety of unlockable breeds, from Pugs to Poodles, and the 'Nitrome dog' cameo is a lovely touch for fans. With over 50 puzzles, it offers a solid amount of content that stays challenging without ever feeling unfair. It's the perfect 'pick-up-and-play' game that makes you feel genuinely clever once you figure out a tricky layout.
50+ challenging puzzles
Unlockable dog breeds (Pug, Poodle, etc.)
Signature Nitrome pixel art style
Innovative room-flipping mechanics
Special Nitrome dog cameo
To succeed, you must think in three dimensions. Remember that flipping a room changes the dog's orientation; use this to bypass obstacles like vacuum cleaners or to land on treadmills that move you toward the exit.
Players interact with the house by sliding room segments horizontally or vertically. The goal is to create a continuous path for the dog while navigating around interactive elements like fans and toys.
There are over 50 puzzles to solve, ranging from easy to expert difficulty.
I’ve really been enjoying this game immensely and the graphics and puzzles are great. I would love if there was an option to give a hint or a bit of guidance though, because while trying to figure out a level by playing through it is fun and satisfying there have been some moments where I’m completely stuck and feel like I’ve tried everything to no avail which can be frustrating. Overall it’s a great puzzle game and pretty addicting.
The game premise isn’t bad, and I didn’t have a problem with the lack of instructions. What I have a problem with is that the game changes the visual focus frequently, zooming in on an area when you have to see the whole screen to consider what you’re going to do. It literally gets in the way of gameplay; why would you even add that feature? It’s so frustrating. So, three stars. One for cute puppies, one for the sliding/rotating mechanics, one for the simple rules. But it’s hard to play if you can’t consistently see the screen!
This game is pretty fun, easy to learn, simple to play. For the people complaining about not knowing how to move the tiles or to rotated, they have arrows on them that shows you how you can move them (rotate, move sideways, move upwards/downwards, etc.) Also, the items you win don’t necessarily do anything. They are so you can switch the item from a bone to a ball and etc and use different breeds of dogs. It’s fun to switch it up! Well worth the $2.99 to play :)
As a person who listens to music and podcasts while playing games, it's annoying that the sound toggle doesn't stick after every level. The button is pressed but I have to click and uncle just it to get the sound to turn off after every level. Other than that it's a perfectly enjoyable game.
While there’s nothing insanely innovative, the puzzle experience is tight and enjoyable. The dogs are charming and the art style does not complicate the puzzles. A wonderful, zen, adorable experience. In future updates I would love to see new levels (maybe outside?), customizable dogs (build your own dog with features you unlock by completing puzzles), and a level editor. Thanks!
Other reviewers who complain about the lack of instructions just aren’t paying attention. What you need to know is there. Some of the levels are really challenging, but that’s the point of the game! My complaint is that I paid $3 for a game that only lasted me about 3 days. I’ve already solved all 50 levels. More please!
Amazing game with cute little pixelated doggos. Anyone below who says this game is "unclear" or "difficult to learn" is a legitimate caveman idiot. This game is really simple and anyone who has played a puzzle game should have no problem picking it up. Definitely worth the $3 I dropped on it. Give this game a try!
You must add hints or something! IM STUCK ON LEVEL 20!!!!!! Still I love this game and you can’t judge a book my it’s cover thank you, great game!

Of course, it wouldn't be decent start to the weekend unless Nitrome surprised us with a cool new game release. In The Dog House just...
