Horse Racing Solitaire is the genre-mashup I didn't know I needed. It perfectly blends the strategic planning of a card game with the adrenaline of a sports simulator. The genius is in the card combos—stringing together a long sequence doesn't just feel good, it literally fuels your horse's speed, making the solitaire portion feel high-stakes.
The meta-game is surprisingly deep, too. Breeding your own champions and managing your ranch adds a layer of 'tycoon' gameplay that keeps you invested between races. The rival family storyline (the Sterlings) gives you a concrete goal to work toward. It’s charming, clever, and one of the most creative uses of Solitaire I've seen on mobile.
Unique fusion of Solitaire and Horse Racing
Deep breeding and training mechanics
Homestead renovation and stable management
Charming story featuring the rival Sterling family
Over 750 MB of rich content and racecourses
Don't use your sprint as soon as it's full. Save it for the 'Final Stretch' of the race to blow past rivals who have already exhausted their energy.
Regularly breed your best horses. A higher pedigree offspring will have better base stats, making it much easier to win the more difficult late-game tracks.
Solve Solitaire puzzles during the race to generate speed; large sequences fill your sprint bar for a powerful finishing burst.
Use race winnings to upgrade your facilities, buy new horses at the market, and train your current stable for better performance.
The Odds Meter helps you visualize your chances of winning a race based on your horse's current stats and the difficulty of the track.
I’ve been playing for a couple of days and I think the game is cute and fun to play. I haven’t experienced any bugs or crashing issues.
Overall, the concept is great and I enjoy the game. However, there’s a few issues I have with it. A horse with odds all the way to the right should never place below third with the auto-race feature and they’re consistently coming in at 5-7th place. I don’t have time to play 9+ rounds multiple times a day, but constantly losing money with the auto-race is frustrating. When breeding, it doesn’t tell you how many rounds and what turf the random stallions prefer. It’s nearly impossible to breed for a specific type. You’re only getting coat color. Especially considering it charges more to breed with these stallions, these stats should be included.
Fun game but has a few quirks. When presented with a goal of “sell a horse with X level stats”, it may take two or three sales of such a horse for The game to ‘get it’ and mark the goal complete. I also seem to be stuck at level 4 horses. I’ve yet to see a level 5 stud to breed to my level 4 mares for a chance at a level 5, nor do I ever see one for sale in the store. Is this not obtainable without spending real money? I feel like I’ve been stuck here long that if it were just by chance, I’d have run across one by now.
I love this game. It’s fun, it’s straightforward, and it has a lot of aspects to it like breeding and training. But there are times where I go in and the app has reverted to hours or even days before. I’ve had horses I sold suddenly back in my stable, trainings or upgrades that I started just poof away (sometimes with the materials, sometimes the materials are back in my inventory). It makes me hesitant to play because who knows if the progress I made will even be there next time?
Breeding requires a lot of resources. They’re generous with their in-game currency, but even then you spend so much on resources to get to breed at all. I have tried to breed a level three horse multiple times now. No matter what, I get level two. I’m not sure the “40%” chance I see is actually true. I also agree with other users that horses end up finishing poorly more often with the auto function.
I’ve been enjoying this game and would give 5 stars if not for the fact that half the time I choose to select an ad for additional rewards my game crashes, restarts, and there’s no rewards. If that can be fixed then I would say 5 stars
Fun game, I just wanted to try it out real quick to see if I liked it, and I do, but I made a mistake and I want to start over.
I really want to like this game. But by time u get through all the conversations and back and forth with stables I finally get to ‘race’ aka play a game. Graphics are excellent, game play is flawless, just wish I could play more solitaire instead of raising race horses! Deleting this one.
