Heartopia is an open-world social simulation that focuses on creativity and community. Players can design their own characters and build highly detailed homes from the ground up with grid-free placement and custom textures. Beyond building, the world is filled with activities like fishing, gardening, and cooking. The core of the game is its social interaction, allowing players to visit each other's towns, participate in seasonal festivals, and collaborate on massive community projects in a safe, wholesome environment.

Our Expert Score

91/100

Heartopia is a triumph of the 'cozy' genre. It takes the best elements of Animal Crossing and The Sims and blends them into a vibrant, socially-connected world that feels truly alive. The level of customization available for your home is staggering—the grid-free placement and the ability to customize patterns on almost any surface allow for a level of creative expression that is rare on mobile.

What truly impressed me, however, was the community focus. The game fosters a genuinely kind and helpful environment. Whether you're helping a neighbor water their garden or collaborating on a town festival, the interactions feel meaningful. It’s a beautiful, safe space for players of all ages to express themselves and build a digital life that feels warm and welcoming. It's not just a game; it's a happy place.

L O V E this Game!

Let me start off by saying this game is everything I need it to be and MORE! There is so much to do- cooking, driving, fishing, making music and even ICE skatingggg!! There’s so many people (npc’s, players) to interact with and the customization is very thorough. You can have so many different types of styles and sets for your character. On top of that the game itself, graphics and art style are really what make this a 5 star game. I will say the micro transactions are not my favorite but they’re advertised in a way that isn’t distracting, frustrating or disruptive to the gameplay itself. It’s truly additional items so I don’t mind paying if I see something I like. I’ve been playing everyday since it released and It’s so exciting to see all the added challenges and updates weekly. I have been experiencing a slight bug with my cat specifically, where- upon seeing her at home, there is no automatic pop up for interacting with her like with my dog. They will stand side by side and I only have the option to feed or pet my dog. This is very concerning when she’s hungry because they eat daily and I feel bad when their tummies grumble. Please look into the interactions with pets/cats so they can stay consistent. The wild animal interactions have worked perfectly for me so I want to give my pets the same courtesy. Otherwise keep up the great work! You’ve truly created a work of art with this game and I’ll definitely keep playing! :)

I want to start this review with this first yes, no one is forcing money to be spent in a “free” game, but when you love a game (if you are able and only if) adding support to those who work on the game so they can go home to their families with a smile and food on the table, is why you do give money to this type of game. But, when a game doesn’t care about its player is when things turn for the worse, and I fear this is becoming the case. The title is the truth to this review. A fear I will have to end my Heartopia journey before it starts. I have been excited to play this game every day for the passed week, only for the more I play the more I find people (whom have which played for much longer) saying they are hurting by the developers lack of care for us who aren’t on CN servers. The more players who are starting to say they have wasted their time with this game and its predatory system. In which makes it hard to receive any value in the spending of their hard earned money especially in today’s real life climate. This review will probably seem as ‘comical’ to some but to others it’s the truth. The truth is this, many people see this game as a way to leave real world issues and be able to smile, but when the game only sees its player as money symbols what really are we the player escaping truly? We leave one beast for another.

BEST GAME IVE PLAYED IN A WHILE

This game is literally the game of my dreams! It combines all my favorite games into one! If you like Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, SIMS, you’ll LOVE this. Or at the very least, enjoy it a lot. This game is so so fun and enjoyable! There is SOO much stuff to do! And even if you just want to chill, you can quite literally do that. The map is HUGE, so many features, furniture, accessories and clothes On top of that, you get many opportunities to get so much free stuff! And the developers most definitely do not cut you out. If you do decide to make a purchase, in my honest opinion (also as someone who doesn’t like to “waste” money on games) it’s actually worth it. You get the most cutest moped for your first purchase and you can literally purchase the $0.34 hearts pack. You can 100% play, spend NO money, and still have fun. On top of all this, the game runs so smoothly. My phone was 100% charged, I played for 4 hours and my battery was barely at half. I’m super impressed with how smooth this game runs with the graphics it has. Only downside (in my opinion) is the tutorial aspect is very long. You do a ton of quests, which does earn you a lot of money, but it takes time before you can unlock all the features. Still soooooo worth it though! I’ve probably earned at least 25,000 coins from the tutorials alone

Self-built towns (and other random totally crazy, far-out, possible future ideas)
Thu Jan 08 2026 Teapetal <3

I have some ideas, and I genuinely believe I would have given this game five stars if the self-built towns hadn't eventually had to become public. Sometimes, I enjoy playing alone or with my friends, and I think it would be wonderful for players like me to have a special town all our own—perhaps with a unique spot for our houses, where we can choose our preferred plots. I think that would be so special, and it would be even more amazing if we could live with others too! My friends and I are hoping for a roommate option, and I believe many other players might find that just as exciting. Maybe there could be a joint build mode so multiple people can help build and decorate the house—imagine the fun! And this part is a bit of a stretch, but the pets made me think: what if we could adopt babies and care for them in our homes, take them on quests, and watch them grow as we nurture them? They could stop growing at the child stage so they can talk and follow us, or stay home if we prefer. Dressing them up once they’re older would be absolutely adorable! Plus, if you and a friend could co-parent the kids, that would be incredibly heartwarming. That's all, and thank you for such a fun, beautiful game!

Actually fairly decent

I didn’t expect this game to meet my expectations but it actually ended up exceeding my expectations in ways. Some things that bother me were the blue heart gem currency & pulling system. It’s already so difficult to get the blue gems, and it gets more expensive the more you pull. Ive been playing non-stop to get the gems so I can get the hair and clothes I want, but it’s very tiring. Only way to get blue gems, as far as I know, is from quests (which are limited) & the events (which there’s still not much to claim from there). Also, the moped is excruciatingly slow for how big the map is. I understand it may be a slower paced game, but it takes forever to get from my house to another location. However, I do think the open world aspect exceeded my expectations. It’s pretty open to exploration with several different locations. Its thought it’d be much less, which made me happy the map was large. Also, the hobbies aspect is satisfying. I especially am fond of the fishing “minigame” so far. However, aside from fishing though, the rest are sort of boring. So, overall, it’s nice. Not my favorite but it definitely exceeded my expectations, and im hoping it will only improve from here on out!

5 Stars… Except for 2 things

This game is super fun, it’s like a cross between animal crossing and sims. For the most part I have no complaints, there are plenty of tasks to do each day, many items are customizable, the design options are relatively limitless when it comes to house building and sewing. HOWEVER: 1. The game is still very glitchy on iOS, this is to be expected since it just released on the platform but it does inhibit game play sometimes (like when my cat is stuck on the roof or in a wall so I can’t train/feed him). 2. Probably my biggest complaint right now: the gacha system. It doesn’t feel like a random draw of tickets. The amount of doubles you get is crazy, and you don’t get the option to keep them, they are automatically turned into tickets. Ok great, what can you buy with the tickets? Not the original set of course, but a set of a different color. And the amount of tickets you need for those highly desired items is crazy. But you can only buy them by paying real money for hearts, hopefully earning some free raffle tickets in game to draw again, or by inevitably getting more dupes. I understand the app has a goal to get money, but making it impossible for us to earn those top tier gifts without spending $200 is lame. At least give us a chance with a truly random draw!

Horrible grind heavy game.
Sat Jan 17 2026 LizziMFG

They get you in the beginning, you level up reasonably and it’s fun. But the higher you get, the harder and dumber it is. For example, I need 2000 points to level up my gardening hobby. Each time i HARVEST I get 2 points. And crops take 15 minutes to 8 hours to grow. You don’t get gardening points for weeding, watering, or planting. The pets require feeding multiple times a day and their food costs 150 coins and it takes about 4 - 5 bags to get their hunger full. You can feed them things you’ve made but as I mentioned, crop harvest is unbalanced. You can feed them fish but your fishing pole depletes quickly and requires repair kits. You have to make these. The normal kit only repairs your tools halfway. You can make a better repair kit but it’s dependent on a special tree you can only get 3 pieces of wood from per day. The actual level you are at is entirely dependent on daily tasks. You get 5 a day, and each task gets you 10 points toward your level. I currently need 80 points to level up. That’s 2 days. But what you can do in your town is dependent on your level so if you want to play, your only option is grind an insane amount, burning through resources like mad. It’s an unbalanced game and fun for a few days before your only option is to grind. I can’t see myself playing this game anymore.

Cute but..

The games gacha is actually horrendous. Maybe it’s currently bugged, (wouldn’t know because support doesn’t answer and when they do it seems like an ai), but the amount of duplicates you get right now is insane. The gacha is unlike any other game I’ve seen, people are spending over 300 and not getting the full banner set, you’ll get duplicates and tickets that won’t come close to the amount you need to get a recolor duplicate. You can’t even use tickets to get the base color, only recolors. You also can’t use them to get building permits from the banner. Not sure if it’s possible to actually pull a relic before other items to get a full set on the moonlight crystal pulls. Other than the gacha and painting issues, there are some bugs that need to be fixed, (Big one is pets glitching onto roofs, under buildings/furniture.) Also, the Heartopia official Discord is genuinely a train wreck. You can’t even go there to really ask for help, the mods, (not all), they have are quite rude. They also do use ai for the paintings, for anyone that doesn’t know already. (edit: knocking it down to one star because support in the game has started deleting people’s tickets instead of responding. Also please set foot in their official discord and see how the mods act, even utter ai or talk about something wrong in game and they are RUDE. They ban or mute if they don’t like you, loll..)
