Game is Hard goes global with 20 languages!
More players, more brains, more fun. Enjoy the same tricky challenges with improved clarity, better accessibility, and a worldwide puzzle experience.
Game Is Hard is a brutal, honest, and brilliantly designed 'rage-game' that will appeal to fans of Flappy Bird or Getting Over It. It prides itself on being difficult, but it never feels truly unfair. Every death is clearly your fault, which is what keeps you hitting that 'Retry' button. The minimalist art style means there are no distractions—just you, the character, and the impossible gauntlet of spikes and lasers ahead.
The haptic feedback on death is particularly 'sharp,' which almost acts as a physical reminder of your mistake. What I loved most was the 'Success Percentage' tracker at the top of the screen; seeing that you've reached 98% of the level only to die is a unique kind of pain that only a perfectly designed difficult game can provide. It’s a badge of honor to complete even the early stages. If you have a high frustration tolerance and love a challenge, this is the best 'hard' game on the market.
Brutally difficult level design
Minimalist, distraction-free visuals
Instant 'Retry' for fast-paced play
Global leaderboard for the few who survive
Embrace the death counter. You will die hundreds of times. Use the 'Ghost' feature in the settings to see your previous run's path; this helps you time your jumps through the triple-spike pits more accurately.
The game uses a single-tap jumping mechanic. The height of your jump is determined by how long you hold the screen. Mastering the 'micro-tap' for short gaps is the only way to survive Stage 2.
Absolutely not. One mistake sends you back to the very beginning of the stage.
Overall, this game is super fun. I laugh at the titles and I really have to use my brain on some of them. Small issues which I don’t know if it’s just my phone but when i’m asked to move my phone in a certain way it doesn’t seem to pick up on it too fast and another thing I would like it if the hints were more clear for the first hint I know it’s just gonna be a waste because it basically restates the title of the level which doesn’t really help and I have to use a second hint to even get an understanding. Too very small picky things but overall this game is super fun. Makes your brain think has great visuals. Highly recommend five stars.
I have had this app for a couple days now and I am already on level 74 or so. It was easy yet challenging and the hints are actually helpful without giving anything away but, I have recently been noticing some problems when I play music. I keep having to disconnect the Bluetooth and reconnecting it because it has been glitching while I use the app. It starts speeding up and cutting in and out. I know it’s not my speaker because I once disconnected it and did the same thing on my phone too. There are also camera and microphone permissions. I clicked allow and it worked well in the app but sometimes I notice the microphone icon popping up at the top of my screen and the little green dot that comes on when it’s listening. I hate to delete this app because it is very fun but I keep having problems and concerns for my device security. Also, some of the levels referenced older levels and the hints tell exactly which one but a couple rounds have been off by several levels. I had one that referenced level 23 or something and the hints tell exactly said it was on level 34 or something. I ended up having to go through several levels to find it and I almost skipped it entirely. Lots of bugs.
The game is creative- it uses a lot of features, most of which I hesitate to say because of spoilers, but it’s rather neat to see a game use all your phone’s features to it’s advantage. For example, a level made me turn up my screens brightness, which was pretty neat! However, while it is creative, it’s… not very hard puzzle wise. The puzzles are either self explanatory, or feel like complete guesswork as you click on random things. I would recommend this for a younger audience, if not for the fact it pushes you to use a camera and microphone for some levels, which personally make me very uncomfortable. It provided the option to skip using in game currency, but I still find myself hesitant to recommend this game because of it actually costing money to skip things that make the user uncomfortable. Overall, creative game, if misleading name wise.
This is a fun little game that has you solve puzzles using the physics of your phone and other meta-tools. There’s a similar game called BLACKBOX that I enjoyed but could not finish because some of the tasks involve the bugs like traveling very far from your home(not that this is a criticism, BB is very fun and if you like this you’ll probably enjoy it and vice versa). This I was able to get a lot of the same satisfaction of thinking outside the box and using meta-tool play, but was able to finish it in a couple play sessions because none of the puzzles are super out-there in what they ask of you.
Started playing this game and was having a great time. Game asked me to use my microphone and insisted it would only use it for THAT level. Then, asked me to use my camera and said, again, it would only use it for THAT level. Two levels later I noticed my camera turned back on. I went into my settings and turned off microphone and camera settings, since they were only needed for levels I had already completed. Nope, game restarted and said I could not continue without camera access enabled. Why is that? If you were only using it for one level, why does it have to be enabled for all levels going forward. No thanks, quick delete. Bummer too, great game. But that’s super sketchy.
I went into this game without really knowing what to expect, and that’s honestly part of why I liked it so much. At first it feels simple, but pretty quickly you realize the game doesn’t want you to just play, it wants you to think, try things, and sometimes mess up. What I enjoy most is how the mechanics keep changing. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, the game throws something new at you. It reminded me of Blackbox a bit, but Game is Hard feels more playful and less stressful. Failing doesn’t feel punishing , it feels like part of the experience.
I came across this game in an ad and I thought it looked really cool so I downloaded it! When I tell you that I finished this game in a day, I’m not exaggerating!! It was so much fun! When I reached the end I was sad honestly! I love how interactive it is and it’s so funny trying to figure out if you have to tap or rotate or fling your phone haha! I even got my mom involved in a few levels trying to make noises and find the colors! I’ve never come across a game like this! It so creative and really makes you think! I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT AND I NEED MORE LEVELS PLEASE!! I can’t wait til the next update!! Keep up the amazing work!!
I pretty much zoomed through the first 39 puzzles; however, I cannot solve #40 despite relenting to watching a walkthrough. I’m doing it right, according to the walkthrough, but after the circle is green… nothing. I also noticed tapping a circle dissolves circles but it did not come into play in the walkthrough; I’ve tried to incorporate it into my solution without luck. I think there may be a bug. I definitely found another bug. If you move the game in the background and then return to the game, UI elements of one or two prior levels can be overlayed on your current level. Which prior levels is inconsistent. Screen dump available.

It has always been hard for smaller developers to get funding or make sure that their games don't flop in the oversaturated market.
