Food Hunt: Pixel Puzzle hits a wonderfully sweet spot for casual puzzle enthusiasts. From the moment you load into its retro, pixelated world, the game oozes charm. The core loop of sliding across grid-based stages to gather food items sounds deceptively simple, but the level design scales smoothly, introducing subtle mechanical twists just as you feel you've mastered the previous batch of levels.
What makes the game stand out is its commitment to relaxed, thoughtful gameplay. The absence of strict timers lets you sit back and treat every board like a miniature logic puzzle. Path planning becomes an engaging exercise in spatial awareness as disintegrating tiles and path-blocking obstacles force you to map out your routes three steps ahead. For anyone looking for a polished, low-stress mobile puzzler with personality and substance, Food Hunt is a delicious entry worth picking up.
Vibrant retro pixel-art aesthetic and cozy sound design
Over 100 handcrafted grid puzzles with increasing difficulty
Intuitive single-swipe mobile controls
Offline play capability with no intrusive timers
Analyze the level layout before making your first swipe. Plan out your movements to ensure you pick up every food item without trapping yourself in dead ends or bumping into hazard tiles.
In later stages, focus on isolating movement blocks and using static walls as stopping points. Pay close attention to multi-step food targets that require specific pathing sequences.
Swipe to shift across the grid until your character hits an obstacle or secures a tasty ingredient, testing your spatial planning and route optimization.
Encounter moving kitchen traps, locked gates, and disintegrating floor tiles that change the grid topology as you move.
Yes, Food Hunt: Pixel Puzzle can be fully enjoyed offline without an active internet connection.
No, levels do not feature countdown timers, allowing players to plan their moves at their own pace.
Of people nowadays, when they say they have ADD or ADHD or AuDHD. And while I truly believe that these acronyms have become just popular for people there are some of us out here that take medication and legitimately have to struggle with it every day. It’s both our superpower and at times and the thing that holds us back. One of the things that makes it so difficult for me is that sometimes we can’t make our brains shut off and it makes it very difficult to rest somehow this game because all you do have to think and make decision on which set of ants you going to select to pick up the colors it’s almost like the perfect stimulus and at the same time it allows your mind to rest. It’s a great game. It’s fun. It’s cute and somehow it’s calming too. I really like it. I’m glad I found it and I’ve erased a lot of other games. Because this one does exactly what I needed to do… Pass the time quiet my mind and at the same time that the parts that never went to shut off, be doing something. I’m probably not explaining it right but it’s the funny part is is that anybody that has ADD knows so I guess that’s who this message is really for. 💕
Got the game the other day. Opened it, black screen. Nothing. Updated today. Opened it, black screen. Nothing. Never does anything. Just the blank black screen. **A few days or so after my original review, the game had updates. After they worked out whatever bugs were causing the issues, the game seems fun so far. Only made it through level 9 at the moment. We shall see!!! Oh, someone’s review mentioned the ants being painfully slow. Idk if there’s a difference now since I never saw them before the updates but they aren’t too bad to me. THANK YOU FOR THE FIX!!!!
The game is honestly really fun and can be quite the puzzle higher up in levels you go. I don’t have a ton of complaints other than maybe more game modes and maybe more customisation options. Would be cute to maybe give your ants like hats or something. I also don’t understand why the reviews are saying “no ads”. those i’m sure are just bot’s that the devs paid for but there is an ad after every level. That being said levels can take a couple minutes and the ad can usually be clicked away after 5-10 seconds after initially popping up. Also they do have like a competition between other players. It’s a grand prize of 10,000 coins. Yeah you’ll never win that grand prize because you aren’t actually playing against people. it’s entire fake and you will never be the only winner. I know it’s fake and not connecting to real players because you can access the “online” mode while in airplane mode 😭 that being said I still think it’s worth the download
The gameplay itself is fun, but everything else needs work. The concept of the Food Pass is nice but after 3 levels, the rewards aren’t even worth it. For example, to get to the level 3 reward (50 coins), you have to beat 6 levels but beating one level already gets you 40 coins. So you beat 6 levels to get a reward that you can earn by beating 2 levels. Then you can activate the food pass for extra rewards but that’s $9.99. And the major prize is 5000 coins which you have to play well over 100 levels to max it out. $7.99 for no ads is excessive. And you should get more coins for beating harder levels. Like 80 coins for a hard level and 100 for extreme, especially since the tools are so expensive. You can lose money saved over 30 levels from buying a tool once. Again, I personally like the game itself but there’s literally only one thing you can do and that’s play the level. There’s nothing extra, so I feel like the rewards should be worth the effort
The game itself is pretty fun, but you will absolutely get to a point where there is no way to win the game without special boosters. You can build them up for a bit but it doesn’t take long to start using them all up. They don’t give you an option to watch an ad for a booster, but do show you ads in between each game, so you spend just as much time watching ads as you do playing. They have tons of games set up the exact same way by these same developers. I am going to be sure to never download a game from them again and am deleting this one. Also, making the 2X speed something you have to spend your coins on is ridiculous. They purposely make the “ants” take Ty e long way around for many parts so you spend a lot of time just waiting on this game to catch up to you.
This game is so satisfying!!! No adds you can choose what colors you want to pick you have really cute photos to take apart and its like a puzzle you can unlock items by doing levels i love how this game has vibrations it makes the game see way more calm and satisfying!!! I am so happy i made the choice of downloading this game and one of the main parts is that this game free! What a deal a fun game,no ads, free, fun and so much more i would highly recommend this game for people who would like a game to spend their time having fun!! Hope you have a great day!:)
Besides the drastic difficulty spike basically requiring spending coins past 400, there is a several times repeatable, confirmed game breaking hard stop bug on level 473, where one of the two keys to unlock the remaining lines do not work correctly. I have had it both just not trigger to unlock, aka sits there in the queue and doesn’t unlock the second lock, both if the lock was ready to be unlocked when the key is collected or not, and also when both keys have attempted to double up on opening the same lock, leaving one of the keys visually stuck in the top of that line position in the unlock animation. Something with the triggers for these locks/keys is quite frankly clearly broken on this level, when all other levels have worked correctly with no broken triggers like this.
So whose business plan did you copy for this app because you’re copying every other scam being perpetuated on the App Store. You use the asinine concept of “lives” and then make the levels ridiculously hard so people lose and then run out of “lives” and then you beg for money. You’re a loser company just like every other loser company. This isn’t a “game”, it’s a product with a desperate business plan to underhandedly separate people from their money. Companies like you don’t deserve to function or do business because it’s shady and you should be ashamed of yourselves. Here’s a suggestion: get rid of the ridiculous concept of “lives” and just give people the chance to actually win without being restricted by your desperation for money. Get lost.
