A New Twist on an Old Classic
Fri Sep 15 2023 +Big Vinny+

This New Twist on an Old Classic, brings a breath of fresh air to the Final Fantasy Mobile Games Lineup. From the familiar stories and cast to the new ways to play. This game will have you building a team of your favorite FFVII to play through story content or farm raids, events and dungeons. Much like other Hero Collection games from Square. You can summon (Draw) new versions and skins of the memorable cast to level and upgrade, and take into battle. You can pick from the systems Auto Assigned party or Tailor your party to what you like and best fits the situation. Updated traffics and cut scenes from the FFVII remake blend well to give you a look into the story of the world as well as new stories and some not so known. But most of all we can now have a party with Zack Aerith and Cloud! As a Free to Play gamer there is plenty of opportunity to earn Blue Gems Shards that are used to summon (Draw) heros and weapon upgrades through completeing content, daily quests and missions and joining randome raid parties. So jump in and see what The World of Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis has to offer.

Good, but issues
Sat Sep 09 2023 Tomgunnz

I am a regular gacha player, and have put hours into several Square Enix based Gachas. Ever Crisis is fun, but there are a few glaring issues. At my current place in story mode, it’s detrimental to manually play. The AI is so advanced, and plays perfectly, that you’re punished for not using auto play. For example, I came across a quest that was recommended 3,300 power, and I was at 5,000. I couldn’t beat it. I put it on auto mode, and it cleared the quest easily. The interface is a pain. You can’t collect quest rewards from the mission tab. You “collect them” and they’re sent to your mailbox, where you actually collect them. It’s similar to FFBE WoTV, and I always felt it was an unnecessary step. My final complaint comes from the monetization. So far, I haven’t felt the need to spend money. The issue is how often you’re bothered with buying something. There is a gold highlight tab on certain menus, to let you know if there is a quest complete, or you have new items. To get the gold highlight to go away, you click on it, and it’s gone. On the MTX menus, you can’t make the gold highlight go away. It stays there flashing, trying to entice you to spend. That’s the only reason I can think of, that the gold highlight doesn’t go away. Square, you’re better than that juvenile predatory stuff. I’m willing to give this game a few weeks/updates, but it’s not really exciting me. I know others are loving it, but I’m not hooked.

Disappointing, but understandable…

I was hoping for at least the entire storyline of the original favorite, but none of the three are completed. In fact, all three are barely started into the secrets of the three storyline. Slightly disappointed in the way materia and summoning is also handled; haphazardly redone from the original to only go up in level with materials that must be either hunted down or purchased with nothing about experience of use. Of course this could have been incredibly complicated if it was done the old way since there are also tons of various weapons each character can use and they changed that as well, having the weapons playing as two “main” weapons, one ahead of the other, as well as two “sub” weapons that could be anyone’s. There are also outfits to be won or purchased. All of this is confusing and takes away from the stories. On top of all of that, the stories have been broken up into parts. There is very little in the way of exploration. I don’t expect to be able to go into Cloud’s world and travel all over the place as I did the first time at all. While all of this is highly disappointing, for what it is, it is also understandable given what they were trying to do. And I will still play it. At least until they finish it.

Fun but the items are over buffed

Excellent storyline and excited to be able to have final fantasy on my phone. There’s plenty of side options and additional tasks to make the whole experience fun however the items are way over buffed and they give you a ridiculous amount of items. I can understand if you were to pay and wanted to max out your stats and character but within 3-4 days of playing just with the free extras they give out, I have an unlimited amount of resources. Before level 10 it seems I already have some of the best items in the game, can max out every stat and weapon. It really takes away the fun and it’s like I’m just tapping going through the motions instead of actually playing and being decisive about the game. I liked the toughness of the original games where you had to really grind to get items or take your time to decide which weapon got the upgrade, pick which character would get the boosts because resources were limited. That is absolutely not the case here. This game literally just unloaded every item on me all at once. It’s no longer fun so I purposely will use lower level stuff and not level up everything to make the experience more reasonable. I don’t want to one hit every monster because they gave me every characters top level weapon just for simply logging in for the day.

Perfection

One complaint i have is when you enhance materia it only shows if the materia is equipped or not it doesn’t say who it is equipped to. I have multiple load outs with the same type of materia on different characters but you can’t see which character is actively holding the materia unless you jump into edit party so I’ve been having to switch back n forth just to see which character is actively holding the materia I’m enhancing. There’s gotta be a more streamlined way like how about instead of an ‘E’ icon above the materia when we are enhancing like a little character icon or something better to see who is actively holding the materia you are enhancing. Unless I’m just not seeing something I should see that’s my one complaint so far with the game and I finished both ff7 and crisis core stories and well on my way through the first soldier story so I think I gotta pretty good grasp on what I’m doing. Game is near perfection if not perfect but if I were to complain that’s the only issue with me.

Very Disappointing

As a long time FF7 fan, I waited with great anticipation for this game. I was super excited straight from the announcement. I was a little peeved that it was a gatcha game at first but I still continued to play and enjoy it but as time went by, more and more issues arose. It’s nearly impossible to get 5 star materia infact it’s ridiculously rare, the draws are predatory, and it also became very clear that only certain characters got weapons and outfits, while others were either constantly neglected (like Barret and Red XII) but even with the characters that did receive gear, some got way better designs. Characters like Aerith and Zack got way better designs than any of the other characters. Cloud, Tifa and others got low quality lazy designs. Aerith got two princess dresses and more pulls than almost any other character, and the duel heroine that she shares equal importance with, Tifa was given a raggedy top for her first outfit, with holes in her top. Then was completely neglected for a Nibelheim themed event, in favor for Aerith who had no ties to that location as wasn’t even in the story event. It shows a fundamental disregard for the story and characters and as a fan of both, I don’t appreciate it. Therefore I will be deleting this app and no longer spending any money on it.

Its alright

I don’t usually play mobile games or “gacha” games whatever that means so that probably colors my review a bit. I find myself playing every few days or so when I have some time to kill and it seems like every time I login, I need to either update the app before playing or I need to download content. In either case by the time the game is ready to played I don’t have much time to play it. All the pop ups and rewards, special unlocks, purchases- they are quite annoying, perhaps the gacha part. I just want to play through the story. Which by the way, it feels like while they seem to be hitting the big story beats they are dragging out inconsequential moments that are good for short 3-5 minute battles or missions. For what it’s worth the graphics are awesome in the battles- the levels and characters are pretty closely recreated to original- just wish there was more level exploration rather than so many “fight this guy”. The battles are significantly dumbed down for original so they arn’t quite as fun. Overall 3/5, will continue to play but not an ideal way to catch up on the games FF7 story IMO

NICE CONCEPT, BUT A GRINDING NIGHTMARE
Sun Nov 19 2023 XIIIofTBFS

I loved the idea at first. All of the Final Fantasy VII universe meeting in one place. I’ve played since day 1. It started out fun because there were storylines to the events, but now it is just becoming a time devouring grinding nightmare. The current FFIX crossover event doesn’t really offer much of a storyline at all. Just grind grind grind eat all your time. Haha! I would suggest adding an idle-collecting method to run along events for those who want to get special items but don’t have the time to grind for hours. I’m afraid if there isn’t any other types of things to do, like maybe an arena or Chocobo racing, this game is going to get old fast. I’m almost ready to stop playing. Not necessarily a pay-to-play, but draws usually end before you get enough crystals to get enough stamps to get special items like costumes. So I would suggest only getting free draws and holding onto your crystals until you see a costume you really really like.
