Minor Bug Fixes
Escape From Crimson Manor Episode 2 successfully ramps up the tension and complexity of the first chapter. The Victorian gothic atmosphere is thick and beautifully rendered, making the manor itself feel like a living, breathing character. The puzzles in this episode are particularly clever, often spanning multiple rooms and requiring you to keep a mental map of the house's various secrets.
The storytelling is subtle, delivered through found notes and environmental clues that slowly piece together the manor's dark history. The touch controls are precise, which is vital for the many mechanical puzzles that require you to slide pins or turn gears. It’s a slow-burn mystery that rewards patience and observation. If you are looking for a high-quality, atmospheric puzzle game that feels like a classic 'mansion mystery' movie, this is an excellent choice.
Beautiful Victorian gothic art
Challenging environmental puzzles
Deep and mysterious storyline
Intuitive 3D item manipulation
Atmospheric sound and music
Before attempting the clock puzzle, find the three brass gears hidden in the servants' quarters. The correct timing for the gears is hinted at in the portrait hanging in the main hallway.
Inspect every item in your inventory. Many objects have hidden compartments or can be combined with others to create the tools needed to progress through the locked gates.
While not strictly necessary, playing Episode 1 is highly recommended to fully understand the story and the mechanics of the manor.
I just found these games & I like them. My only complaint is for both Episode 1 & 2, that the visuals are too dark. Some of the puzzles are hard to read & could just use a contrasting color. Even with the brightness turned all the way up, I’m still having a really hard time seeing some of the puzzles. For example: the circle puzzles, I actually have to take a picture with my phone so I can zoom in & see the positions of the rings.
I don’t mind if you can tell the copy was written by a non-native English speaker (or translated) but the text was so bizarre sometimes I hoped it was part of the puzzle (spoiler: nope). There were also spelling errors and things that seemed sloppy like getting a character’s name totally wrong in a hint. What bugged me most is that off of each kid’s room is a bathroom and closet, but based on where the doors are located the bathrooms would have to occupy the same physical space as the other child’s bedroom. There isn’t a magical element here so it’s not like it’s on purpose, again just sloppy. I also accidentally solved some puzzles ahead of where they fall in the game due to either good logical guessing or only a few possible solutions so it was a bit confusing what to do next at times. Also doesn’t further the story a whole lot from part 1, just brings the family into it and leaves on another cliffhanger (with no part 3 as of March ‘25).
This game, and the prequel both deserve much higher ratings than they both received. The controls being opposite of what we are normally used to with games like these seem to be the only reason for the poor reviews and lower star ratings. The game itself is beautiful, the puzzles are amazing, the hints are helpful, it’s not too short, and the storyline isn’t over complicated. I hope this developer makes more games like this is the near future.
I hated getting to the end and it says “To Be Continued” with only one choice…. <Restart Game> Come on!! I want the the story finished, MC! I’ve purchased every one of your games for years. Please give us a ending…Pretty Please
Loved it. No glitches, great puzzles, decent length (about 3-4 hours). I really have no complaints. I wasnt a fan of the movement at first but I got used to it pretty quickly. I did take notes even though the game did store some for you but it took a while for me to figure out what was important and what wasnt. There is a hint system if you need a nudge in the right direction. The puzzles were thoughtful but not too difficult. Overall a great little game.
It’s impossible to read the descriptive text at the bottom of the screen. Suggest you add a setting to double the text size. Also would be nice to invert both horizontal and vertical movement since the default is opposite of how the iPhone works out of the box. It’s dizzying and hard to move around going the opposite way. Otherwise it looks decent, hoping to be able to play it.
Beautifully done. Fun, challenging puzzles. Helpful hint system….when needed. Give it a try. You won’t be disappointed. Can’t wait for Episode 3!
Honestly brilliant. Loved it! If you like Glitch games or the Meridian series...you’ll enjoy this one too. Don’t miss it! It’s got good length of game play. The artwork and scenes are beautifully detailed. The clues, puzzles and interactives are unique and fun. That pop up book...wow! And interesting story line. Can’t wait for future chapters. Def worth the purchase. This dev team is quite talented. Thank you!
