As you already know, this app made by a Chinese developer and there are giant holes in Chinese copyrights laws. I personally own Darkest Dungeon on both PC and Switch but still dig this iphone clone very much. Ignore the fanboys who crying for Red Hooks, this game is worth the price, you don't really need to pay iap to beat the game (grinding is a must for this type of games) so that somewhat make the app premium (pay once to play). It's a Darkest Dungeon clone, accept it. But I feel like a full port by Red Hooks wouldn't be ideal for the iphone platform as the screen is too small to cramp lots of UI items in. Also this clone simplified the game elements down enough to make it easy to just jump in, play for 15-20 mins and quit (ex: maps are shorter, no fear system, no torch system, tanks are tankier, offensive heroes deal more dmg, healers heal more hp, etc). The original DD maps are pretty long for this purpose. For ipad platform, the original game is playable because the screen is big and it gives you a somewhat full gaming experience, you know, sit down and play games for 2+ hours. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this game,
I’ve seen people call this “pirate ware” for being a direct clone of Darkest Dungeon on mobile... and you know what? It is. It is a great mobile port of a fantastic game that’s only available on PC or the iPad. There is a small window to pay to win, but it’s honestly not worth it as long as you watch a ten second ad after every dungeon. The combat is hard and gritty, the survival aspect is punishing and requires constant churn of your characters, the story + setting are dark... it really is a clone of Darkest Dungeon. If Red Hook had put this out instead of another studio, you wouldn’t have known. Makes me wonder why Red Hook only put DD out on iPad? Well worth the $0.99, hands down a great purchase.
Ok so they borrowed the art style. But for all its worth, Deepest Dungeon is ipad only for some reason. Not only that thia game took out most of the annoying aspects of deepest dungeon. Making it easier to understand. The dungeon navigation the heroes, and tame some of the annoying traits of DD. Some may say that, those annoyances are what makes Deepest Dungeon great but for me naah... i want to enjoy my daily breaks without frustration. If you enjoy the challenge and having to devote longer amount of time then go ahead buy DD the original. Thats why ita ipad only i suppose. But for the rest of the people, till they make a “Deepest Dungeon Lite Mobile” this is the only thing close to the original.
This is a sibling of Darkest Dungeon, but to me done better. I've played many hours of Darkest Dungeon on PC and enjoyed it, but was leery of buying it for my IPad based on interface issues I've read about. Interface for this game works well. Game itself is very fun and challenging like DD. Feels a bit more enjoyable actually. I've had to bury many of my characters and move on, but there a few I've enjoyed keeping alive and fighting. Need to grind levels a bit to move forward, but progress is possible and rewarding. I recommend this game as a definite buy and a great value. Try it for yourself.
I’ve only been playing for a couple of adventures, but so far this game has not disappointed. The fights are challenging, the rewards are great, and the graphics are dark and moody. Too early to give this 5 stars, but I’ll update my rating when I find out how necessary the in-game purchase offers are. A quibble or two: I noticed a lot of typos in the Lord’s Letters (especially the 2nd one), and that was distracting. Also, there should be a way for priests and paladins to heal characters outside of battle, but I can’t find it. Is that intentional? I’ve never played Darkest Dungeon so I can’t compare, but from what I’ve seen so far I’d highly recommend this game to anyone looking for an enjoyable dungeon-delving experience.
Normally I do not write reviews. This game is incredibly fun. Apparently it’s a Darkest Dungeon clone, but I’ve never played it. The first couple levels are tough, but here’s a tip: keep a weak enemy alive and spam healing abilities until you are topped off, and pass your action if you don’t have healing or defense options. Try not to use the gold based healing options out of combat unless absolutely needed, they sink your resources. Anyhow, enjoy the game. It is definitely not P2W.
I’m impressed by the quality and I just finished the introduction. It doesn’t feel like exactly like Darkest Dungeons and that’s a good thing. I noticed right away we need better audio sliders, because of the music, which is way too loud and way too upbeat for a game this depressing. Everything else about it is just quality portable RPG Dungeon crawling with stats, skills, strategy, and treasures full of graded Gear. I’ll update at a later point in my play through, but it’s definitely worth the .99 I paid for it.
Originally when I downloaded this game I assumed it was gonna be a ripoff of darkest dungeon but it’s pretty much unplayable after the 3rd mission which is like 10 min into the game. On the 3rd mission your first and only squad gets either wiped or retreats and has to spend literally at least 15+ games in the infirmary to fully heal. Keep in mind it cost +400 to put a single character out of the 4 in your squad and you only get 100 gold per mission. There’s 2 other playable missions so you’ll find yourself hard stuck grinding the same short mission for at least 2-3 hours before you get anywhere.
