Our Expert Score

87/100

Dreamdale is an ambitious and incredibly charming hybrid of an RPG, a farming sim, and a resource management game. You start as a humble woodsman with just an axe and an empty backpack, and you slowly build a sprawling fairy tale empire. The sense of progression is excellent; unlocking a new building or a new tool (like the gold pickaxe) feels like a major milestone. The inclusion of 'mystery islands' and monster-filled caves adds a layer of adventure that keeps the core 'gather-and-build' loop from becoming repetitive.

The game is visually delightful, with a bright, 'fairytale' art style that is full of small, magical details like magic trees and saddle-broken pigs. The only major drawback is the ad frequency, which can be quite high during active play. Some players also find the 'revive' mechanics a bit pushy, especially during cave explorations. However, if you're looking for a 'forever game' that you can slowly grow over weeks and months, Dreamdale offers a wealth of content that is truly impressive for a mobile title.

Don’t listen to the haters

I have never written a review on anything. And only stumbled across this section while checking to see if the game has any updates yet. I payed for the no ads, and it means no ads.. despite what the people are claiming on here, you stilll have the option to fast track game timers and such by watching ads but the game is 100% playable with the short timers they put on it. I.m.o the people upset about these ad buffs are lazy gamers and don’t know what to do while they wait the 30-45 seconds it takes for material to spawn, or a couple minutes to do dungeons. In regards to anyone saying they can’t get gold, or the rainbow nuggets they also are extremely easy to farm once you find the correct method. And the gear is easy to acquire if you use your resources/helpers/and nuggets properly. Eventually everything in game is accessible to you and you don’t have to buy a single thing. Like I said all I payed for was the add removal and sometimes I’ll watch ads to ride a mount and travel 2x speed around my island or dungeon which I feel is a quick cheat in itself lol. I look forward to any updates this game gets. I already have maxed my house, and my island. Excited to see what I’m suppose to do with these lotus flowers and what that stair case in the herb our will lead down too. I hope this game stays afloat. Y’all did a very good job. It’s basically animal crossing with a tad bit of dungeoneering but the grind is eased out by mobile analog controls.

Worth playing

I’ve been playing this game for months now and realized I have never given it a review, which is an injustice to this game. I can’t list out all the great things about this game but in comparison to other adventure/mission games this one is the best I’ve come across. What most games like this one lacks is the inability for the player to make any significant progression in the game without watching a ton of ads or by having to pay for things. I have only paid once or twice before mainly because I was impatient. I’ve only been playing for a few months and I have already unlocked most things in the current world as well 5 other worlds in the game. The extra worlds make it interesting and more fun. You also have the ability to sell your items to get more coins which is not something I’ve seen in other games like this. Also nothing takes an excessive amount of time to create. I’ve seen in other games to create one thing from your materials may take hours or days but not with this game. Most things create very quickly and it doesn’t get annoying to have to wait for something. You can also play offline which is a huge plus to me since I hate watching excessive in-house ads. Playing offline also doesn’t disrupt your progression in the game, you just don’t get the extra perks when playing offline. There’s so many different dynamics of this game! I love it!

This is an amazing game!

I never do reviews on apps or games, but this game is just so good I couldn’t resist. So hear is my review. This is one of those games that you happen to stumble upon once or twice in adds and it looks kind of weird. Don’t get me wrong though this game is so fun! My friend got it a while ago and let me play it some times, and I really liked it sadly they recently deleted the app because of phone storage which made it hard for me to play the game. So I decided to download it and I have been grinding I have got so far. This game has a lot of action, never gets boring and basically never ends. You can also choose if you want to build an entire map and max it out or if you just wanna do the bare minimum there’s also lots of tools and armor to collect that give you certain boost and upgrades. Also, there’s many different ways to play whether you’re a gamer that likes completing the game to its max or just trying to just have fun. It’s also really good if you like fighting things because there’s this one dungeon that never ends, the ads can be annoying, if you take a few steps and then an ad pops up and you watch the ad and then another a few steps go into your inventory go out and another ad pops up. Sometimes it can be annoying but you don’t need to buy the no ads if you don’t want to you’re really easily able to deal with the ads that are there. Ultimately this is a really good game and I recommended to anyone whether you’re 7 years old or 20 years old. This is a really good game for all ages. You guys did really good on making this game, I’m very proud of you.

I love this game!

I have never spent this much time on a game aside from my coloring app. Anytime I get into a game it always turns into a pay to win situation where the only way to move forward is to pay into it to unlock levels or even just to make it playable. Dreamdale is on a whole new level and I love it! There’s so much to do in and they are always improving it. They even do limited time events for holidays and such. As with any game like this, it does get a bit harder as you go and things take longer to create but that’s normal. I love the animation and love the overall gameplay. It has kept me entertained for months now. There’s even a pretty decent community of players on discord as well as Reddit which I love. People who are willing to help out and make the game experience even better. The only thing I did to make the experience better is paid the $8 to remove ads and let me tell you that is a game changer in itself. Yes, you still have to watch ads if you want a cart of items or something but you aren’t forced to if you don’t want to. My only two complaints are 1.) the devs do not respond to any help inquiries you send. I’ve experienced this as well as seen others experience it through the subreddit. 2.) an issue a lot of people have is the “whiplash” you get when you load into an area and the camera is yanked away to show you the next mission objective and then yanks back to your character. I have to close my eyes each time I enter an area because it’s disorienting. Many people have voiced their issue with that and there’s been no change but that goes back to devs not reading any messages.

Fantastic game, few frustrations
Tue Jul 25 2023 Bella315

First of all, I rarely write reviews but I felt the need to write this one hoping the developers would have a chance to read and consider a couple changes. Reason for 4 stars instead of five is because I have a couple annoyances with this game. Firstly, the fact that when walking past buildings and other things that need resources and them automatically taking them when I don’t want them to be taken .. on my island and others. This is super frustrating when I’m working hard gathering resources for a specific goal just to be taken by something else I don’t want it going. My suggestion for this is possible turning the resource box into a “click” option to give those resources rather than just taking them. If this could be an option, it would be fantastic and make this game almost perfect. Not sure if other people share this annoyance but it’s a big one for me Second is the selling resources feature. When scrolling, I’m constantly sliding the bars and makes it difficult to scroll up and down on top of that I find my self hitting the sell all button quite a bit :(. Super frustrating. Overall , great game but hence 4 star instead of five. Devs , please please consider changing the giving resources feature. It would be much appreciated! THANKS!

Cute but…

Saw this and started to play for free (always a good way to test it out!) the cut scene reeled me in save the princess! Count me in! I purchased the game , began cutting trees .. cutting more trees .. picking veggies and fruits and more .. you get the point .. still a cute game. The dungeons are easy the price of upgrading a bit high versus the coin rewards for quests.. now my “gripe” ..the quests just stopped at level 40. I had to pay ALOT of coins ( that I gathered) to upgrade my house..then there was never another quest … no quests to get furniture to fill my expensive but cute house .. no quests to find and rescue the princess .. which was my buying incentive.. I just can go to new islands that start to look the same … cut and pick more things that are the same….to create a dungeon that is about the same each time yet the mobs level faster than I can… and now there is no purpose.. talk about a sad panda .. my hopes. ? The developers are creating updates and they keep coming to keep us gamers intrigued or it’s better to play for free by putting up with the pesky adds until level 40 and by then it’s basically over … ( I do love it it just needs more!) last thing (sorry!) For the developer …with the little bubbles to spend tickets to get more produce etc that you can click on? It covers the entire animation of picking .. making .. chopping so we can’t enjoy our little hero’s actions …that needs to be smaller or moved just a thought !!! Ty for creating a fun little game that def has possibilities!!!but sadly it wasn’t worth it at this point =/

Cute & fun…sure, if you like ads

If 7.99 removed every and all ads, I would honestly just pay it. I don’t pay for games or make in-app purchases. If a game makes you either spend money to advance, or just wait for your “free” item/life/try tomorrow or in 3 hours, I’ll just close the app and wait it out. I wish this game were not this way. It is super fun and super cute, however, the reviews are all correct - it’s an ANNOYING amount of ad disruptions. I had been tolerating the ads for about a week now, and enjoying the game despite them, but the latest update that must have just come out this weekend completely ruined it for me. I had FINALLY advanced my weapons and gear to the point where it took only 2 shots to kill the enemy in the dungeons. Now it’s back to 3 times. They also must have tweaked the response time for shooting because you don’t have control over when or where you shoot, and you have to be standing still in order to shoot, so now you stand there and get hit before you actually defend yourself and if you move, you don’t shoot but if you don’t move, you get shot. It’s just another way to make you have to “save” yourself by watching yet another ad. 🙄 I also saw online other players complaining that the latest update reduced the amount of resources you get per harvest or per swing of your axe. So you spend forever upgrading your equipment to make the most amount of coins and then an update comes out and ruins that too. Such a shame, cause this game has SO much potential.

Game Used to Be good

I started playing over a year ago, and loved it initially. But with each updates they have increasingly made the game more pay to play. With the latest update people are leaving in droves. Latest update has made this unplayable. Along with the Developers refusing to listen to feedback. I’m going back to My Little Universe and I suspect I’m not alone. We understand the need to slow things down, but people still need to feel like they can advance in gameplay. Each update makes things more frustrating and people feel that advancement in the game is impossible now. I was losing interest because of the tedium of any minute advancement, this latest forced update? The latest forced update where upgrading equipment changed from in-game coins you could earn, to scrolls and gems, but have not increased their drop-rate, will have been the last straw for many of us. Instead of fixing bugs (donkeys and carrot harvester basically useless, for example) and improving the customer experience, developers have dedicated their efforts to thwarting and frustrating anyone who isn’t a new player. This also will turn new players off sooner. The daily life of grind in the real world is enough, thanks, we don’t need our escape worlds mirroring that quite so successfully. Listen to your customers. Revoke the frankly ridiculous latest upgrade requirements. Fix the glaring problems you’ve been told about by your customers.
