Duration rules update: Effects from Durations that leave play end.
I am a regular player of this game online and occasionally in person and I’m very pleased with the mobile integration of the game. Navigation and feel are very smooth. It’s easy to maneuver through the game and still read/be aware of all the details (number of actions/buys/total spending power, card details). You can customize some features (like if the game/move log on the right hand side or hiding it), but I still need to explore other options. The feature and experience are great if you’re familiar with the game. I’m enjoying the game with friends (both online and in person with pass and play), random players, and against the hard AI (which can be quite challenging) I think this is great for new players or those that are interested in learning. This deck building game is definitely a favorite of mine as the game is different every time you play it, so the replay value is great. They have tutorials and I feel the learning curve isn’t too hard. I am very greatful for the convenience, thanks for officially launching this game in mobile 🥳
I love this game so much let’s get that out of the way. I would appreciate it if the game would keep track of your last game in case you would like to replay the set. Over and over I mean to hit replay set but I hit rematch and there’s no undoing that. The UI looks dated especially in the main menu, it needs a makeover. When playing the game the scale of some of the UI elements are awkwardly small, such as the money and buy trackers, I feel they need to be larger and make use of some of the dead space. When the expansions aren’t filling that space. The game should have a suggestion suggestions/comments/ report bugs button within it, this shows to the audience that the devs are interested in making the game as good it can be and would have been a better place for me to place this comment. The game frequently crashes especially when using some specific cards, I have found this to be common within the plunder expansion. Most of the music in the game is truly bad, the game should give you the option to disable any specific song. I would recommend hiring a better composer and revamping all of the music and adding more songs in general. As of now I just turn off the music. I love this game and I’m hoping this review will be heard by the devs.
I honestly love the app. Really user friendly and a great way to play dominion on the go! Unfortunately, I find I run into a fair amount of players (60% or so) that tend to make the game not fun to play. I would say I’m slightly better than average but definitely not a pro, and I’m also not a sore loser... But a lot of people will just load up on attack cards and curse you over and over again, and make it impossible for you to do anything. I just played a game where the opponents strategy was basically loading up on militia and minion, making me discard or replace every single hand, and loading up on other cards where they would have 40 card plays (not exaggerating) that included depleting supply piles into the trash. It resulted in a 57 to 7 loss that ended in like 3 minutes. Like I said, I’m not a sore loser, but when you alienate your opponent into having every single hand diminished and being cursed at every turn, and you make it impossible for them to play a decent hand, it makes it completely useless and not fun to play. TL;DR - love the app. Consider whether or not you wanna play with people who take the fun out of it.
I hate to give it two stars but needing to restart each game to get desired decks is too time consuming. Basically, If you ever play against the AI and Militia or Witch is on the board, the AI will play them EVERY. SINGLE. TURN. meaning you’ll only get 3 instead of 5 cards each turn AND lose points AND clog your deck but if the player buys them then it’s incredibly rare for you to get them in your hand which means this game has weighted cards instead of random cards. It becomes so frustrating that you need to just keep rematching so neither of those two cards are in play ESPECIALLY if there’s no way to remove the curse cards so if you DO decide to play against Witch you NEED to also have cards in play to remove them. It requires such a specific setup of cards to play with Witch you’re better off just not playing with it at all. So, TLDR, if Witch or Militia is in play, restart until they’re not because the AI will abuse the heck out of them while the player can not because the cards are weighted and not truly random. Oh, and the placement of the cards on the iPhone means you’ll CONSTANTLY swipe out of the game because of the white bar on iPhones. Edit: I am subtracting stars because the Hard AI literally cheats. They’re buying multiple cards on their turn when there’s no cards in play that allow them to.
A fantastic implementation of one of the greatest masterpieces of all time. Dominion is an almost perfect card game, and this app does a great job of bringing it to the screen. Although physical cards will always be superior, it’s nice to be able to have lots of quick games in succession and to play without having to shuffle your deck every 5 seconds. And I love that all the expansions and promos are available, and you can join someone else’s game with their expansions even if you don’t have all of theirs! I can never resist joining an online game if I see it has Black Market. ;) Overall, this is a really well-done rendition of a cream-of-the-crop tabletop game, and I’m impressed and happy with it. Well done, TGG, and of course, thank you, Donald X, for this absolute masterpiece. There’s a reason why this app has a 4.9-star rating with 3.4k reviews. Great job.
Huge fan of Dominion when it first released. I bought several expansions and even though I still enjoyed the game, it was becoming a big hassle organizing all the cards, setting up the game and then the clean up afterwards. If I remember correctly, there was a digital version made a few years ago that was mediocre so didn’t keep my attention. But this is the game I’ve been waiting for. All the expansions for a somewhat fair price. I knocked off 1 star because to buy ALL of them would set you back roughly $150 and that seems way overpriced for a digital game. However, I’m buying my favorites and slowly will build back my collection. The quality of the gameplay is solid. The replay value is through the roof and I’m so excited to keep playing. For me, this was my big introduction to card building games. I’ve since played many others but this will always be a staple in my rotation.
Don’t get me wrong, they did a great job on this game. However, I am very unpleased with the fact that after purchasing multiple expansions that when I “specify” cards to be randomly generated to play other people I am stuck with the basic game. Time and time again I am leaving the lobby because it gives me a full layout of the basic set. It’s annoying that I can not unselect the basic set for a randomly generated game. Furthermore I would love to be able to see some thing that allows to me to communicate with opponents like “GG” or “let’s go” some simple phrases to send to my opponent. Also it would be nice to see which of my friends in my list is currently online to I can invite them to play a quick round. If the developers did these simple things I would be more happy with my purchase. So far I have bought 6 expansions and plan on getting more. But I want changes
I’m enjoying this game immensely as a new player, and it seems to work well, with no inconvenient bugs or crashes— but when I’m in the middle of a game against multiple AI opponents, and they’re all playing cards one after another, even though I have it set on the slowest possible speed for the AI opponents, their turns go by too fast for me to process, step-by-step, each individual thing that the AI’s doing on its turn. Yes, I can go back and check the log after the turn is over. But as someone new who is trying to learn some approaches to strategy and how/whether they work, it would be nice to be able to slow that down— or even just check post-game logs and look back over those. It’s a fun game, don’t get me wrong, and I do feel like I’m learning; it’s just a mild frustration at times.
Dominion, the classic card game, will get a new app backed by a neural network. The AI is so competent that developers claim it can learn to...
