Our Expert Score

78/100

Doctor Who: Lost in Time is a treat for fans of the franchise, successfully blending the 'idle clicker' genre with a narrative that spans the entire history of the show. As an expert reviewer, I appreciate how the game captures the specific 'voices' of the different Doctors, from the Fourth's whimsical charm to the Thirteenth's frantic energy. The premise of gathering 'Waypoints' and 'Vortex Energy' fits naturally within the show's lore.

While the gameplay is standard for an idle game—managing resources to automate production—the inclusion of branching narrative choices and limited-time events based on classic episodes keeps things fresh. The character art is vibrant and recognizable, and the constant stream of unlockable companions provides a strong incentive to keep tapping. It won't reinvent the wheel for non-fans, but for a Whovian, seeing K-9 and Rose Tyler interact while saving time itself is pure fan-service gold.

Revised review

My initial review: The game is a little glitchy and customer support is non-responsive. The premise is solid, I love the nods to the different doctors and the references to the show, and I didn’t mind spending money in-game to support the developers (which I do for literally every mobile game I play.) But anytime I have ever had an issue with any other mobile game, it has been resolved. When I spend money in-game, I expect to get what I pay for, even if the game glitches out. After repeatedly contacting the developer after a glitch with this game, I heard nothing from them. Do not waste your time (and especially not your money) on this game. *UPDATE* Much later than expected, I did hear back from the devs and the issue was resolved. They even apologized for the delayed response, citing a high volume of tickets. Changed my 1-star review to a 4-star. And I would like to apologize to them as well for being too hasty in my assumption that customer service didn’t care about my issue. Will continue to play the game and will update review again if need be.

Time travelers are GREAT!

Edited: This game is FANTASTIC! (Speaking of which, they should add the Ninth Doctor.) For people who say it’s boring, I disagree. I love the new Season Pass feature. The support team is super helpful. They fixed the issue below in under 24 hours! Original: Sorry for the 1-star review. I’ll take it down as soon as you resolve this, I promise. So, in the most recent Season Pass, with the Autons in Kerb!am, one of the rewards was Donna Noble. I collected all the Donna rewards, only to find that she’s the 60th Anniversary Donna, not the Series 4 one. She didn’t show up in the Tenth Doctor’s TARDIS, she just went to the regular Character collection, presumably to go with the Fourteenth. And so I have the wrong Donna. After I had completed the Season Pass, someone fixed this and put Series 4 Donna in the pass, but it was too late for me. I can’t re-collect the rewards. Suggestion: send a gift in the Inbox with at least one Series 4 Donna card, if not the 15 cards I would have gotten from the pass. Please fix this! Thanks! BTW, if you need to send the gift to just me, my player name is the same as the name on this review. Original review retained for proof that this issue is indeed a glitch, for anyone else who has experienced this.

Love!!! (with one caveat)

I am a longtime fan of Doctor Who, and when I found this game I was enthralled!! I have been playing for the last few months and it is very nice for those who enjoy formats such as “AdVenture Capitalist”, and the rewards systems individually seem very fair and balanced. However, the one comment I will make is regarding the pay-to-access rewards that make it essentially impossible to place within the top 50 of many events. I understand the ultimate purpose of this within the story-mode, but it takes much of the “hope” out of playing events! Love the show and game, but not enough to drop 4-15 dollars for extra cards or diamonds on a 24 hour event (with all respect possible). Would definitely recommend this game, just know some aspects of the game (specifically the events) appear somewhat as “pay to win”.

Game isn't fun, nor are the special events

I've only downloaded this game for the Circuit Breaker tie in, and I have to say I'm disappointed with pretty much every aspect of it. First of all, the base gameplay is boring and uninvolved, once you earn enough to automate your waypoints, you only have to sit and wait for an hour to get enough currency to progress. Then, once you finish an episode, all your progress resets, so what's the point of upgrading anything past what's required to beat the stage? Finally, for the "Castling" special event, you unlock very cheap "cutscenes" that only give you 10 pieces of dialog for every completion requirement, which themselves scale WAY too high too fast. The first story section is unlocked at 100 BILLION currency, the second at 10 TRILLION, and the third at 1 QUADRILLION. I've been min-maxing this game as much as I can without spending money (which obviously is the real goal of the app) and I've only unlocked 4 story segments out of SIXTEEN. How do you expect us to gain the whole story and get the most out of this event when it's available for THREE DAYS ONLY. Terrible addition to this multi-media saga, and I will be uninstalling the second the event ends.

Not stable and predatory

I’ve been playing the game for a year, succumbing to micro transactions here and there. You can earn the premium currency without spending money. However it’s never enough for events. For example. This weekend I spend saved up 400 crystals or the equivalent of $30 USD or so. That wasn’t enough to complete the event on the first day. So I gave in cause it had rewards I really wanted and I was at the top of the leaderboards. So I spent $15 USD real money to boost myself on the leaderboard to unlock a character(being in top 20 on the leaderboard is the ONLY way to get Doctor characters). I got back up to 3rd on the leaderboard. Then they updated the app on iOS. Which made it so I couldn’t log in for a whole day. By the time I was able to log back in I was down to 23 and it was far too late to catch up so I wasted my $15 USD on boosts cause they couldn’t keep the game running. This also to add that they put in a paid season pass now if you want to collect tardis’s is really turning me off… it’s getting very predatory and it’s probably safer if I delete it rather than spend $5 here and there.

Minor nitpicks

In events the option to watch an ad to double earning while you were away is broken. It will show a string of in app purchases with a painfully long time between dismissing one and seeing the next, during this time you can’t interact with the game. Events also make you do an annoying forced tutorial when you start them that should have an option to skip after a couple events as you know the mechanics at that point. Loved the crossover event with the lower decks game by the same developer. It was cool having a simultaneous event in both games, and seeing the characters in both games art styles. My minor quibbles also apply to the lower decks game. Still, if you like idle games and long for a madman in a blue box to whisk you away, this is the game for you.

Game doesn’t function, ignored help requests
Sun Jun 22 2025 notcoveringthegray

I’ve been playing this for a month or two and I’ve been patient. I’ve submitted tickets for problems and followed up on those tickets. Sometimes they respond with a follow up question, sometimes not at all; most of the time they have ignored. One out of six resulted in resolution (and I didn’t report every time because it’s too much). I’ve never had to submit help requests for any other app or game. It seems pointless to continue playing a game that doesn’t consistently deliver the resources and rewards that I purchased or earned and is constantly crashing. It’s too bad; the game has some potential but all in all just not worth it when there are so many other app games on the market that deliver purchases and winnings as promised, without having to submit help tickets that won’t be addressed. There are other developers out there that take more pride in their work, their word, and their product. Don’t waste your time on this game.

Customer service and player time matters

This is not so much a review but a very negative experience I had with Doctor Who: Lost in Time. Recently Lost in Time had an event concerning Ace and the Ice Warriors. It was a four days in length and in effort to get all the rewards I basically babysat my phone to watch the ads for bonuses as often as I could spare. Sufficed to say I witnessed an unconscionable amount of Royal Match adverts. By the fourth day I felt on track to my goal but an issue with an update prevented me from accessing the Lost in Time app for around 24 hours. Thus the reward I had spent the previous three days grinding became lost. Finding this unacceptable, I submitted a ticket seeking a remedy. I requested either the event rewards or a day to finish the event. I felt this a reasonable and fair request but this was their reply… “…and we want to assure you that if you weren't able to finish an event during this time, there will be more events for you to enjoy!” At no point did they bother to address my request. So I replied to this unsatisfactory message but as of yet have not heard back. I value my time, doubly so when spent of IOS frivolity, and it is clear to me Doctor Who: Lost in Time does not. Nor do I wish to risk further attempts in events as they seemingly have no interest in offering solutions when problems arise. I will no longer patronize, I have uninstalled, and do not recommend the game to anyone. A pity as classic Doctor Who has always been my jam. Hope my experience helps. Thanks for reading.
