Disney Iwájú: Rising Chef is a vibrant and energetic time-management game that perfectly captures the futuristic-Nigerian aesthetic of the Disney+ series. Unlike many licensed cooking games that feel like 'Diner Dash' clones, Rising Chef integrates the unique flavors and cultural touchstones of Lagos in a way that feels authentic and educational. The art direction is spectacular, with bright colors and character designs that look like they stepped right out of the show.
The gameplay is frantic in the best possible way. Balancing multiple orders of Jollof rice and other delicacies while managing the tech-advanced kitchen gadgets keeps you in a constant state of 'flow.' The progression system is well-paced, unlocking new recipes and kitchen upgrades that feel meaningful. Most importantly, it avoids the aggressive monetization common in the genre; while there are options to speed things up, a skilled player can progress through the story purely on merit. It's a fantastic companion piece to the show and a top-tier cooking sim in its own right.
Authentic Nigerian recipes
Official art from the Iwájú series
Challenging time-management levels
No intrusive advertisements
Watch the customer orders carefully. Start dishes with longer cook times first, like Jollof rice, and use the 'Cooling Trays' to prevent burning. Tapping quickly to assemble orders will earn you 'Speed Bonuses' and bigger tips.
Earn coins to buy advanced Nigerian kitchen tech. Upgrading your stove allows you to cook more items simultaneously, while better ingredients increase the value of your dishes. Progress through different districts of Lagos to unlock new recipes.
Not at all! While fans of the show will recognize the characters and setting, the cooking gameplay is fun and accessible for everyone.
Everything is great ,it’s a fun game except the MA MA PUT case, at the level 27, I Only Can Make 59 meals, It’s took my Over and Over Again, just only 59,it’s will never get 60meals 🥺😢
Finally! A game I can pay $1.99 for and not have to worry about ads ever again I’m so happy this has been something that I have hoped for for a long time in a phone video game, Disney: Please continue doing this format… I love it. Maybe bring back some classic stories like Disney’s Aladdin and the little mermaid. I would absolutely be obsessed with games like that. The cooking game is very delightful. The graphics are fun and inviting and the music is nice. I have already played this for hours and I will not tire of it. however, there is a major glitch where I cannot progress past the second world, the restaurant setting I cannot earn stars past 190 stars to advance to the third scene. I eagerly await until this glitch is fixed because this is my new favorite phone game!!
I’m so glad a game like this exists! As soon as I heard Disney was making a series based on Nigerian culture I was shocked, I was even more surprised that they were making a game based of cooking Nigerian cuisine. Nothing like this exists on the App Store and I’m so glad this game is here to fill that void, along with a pay upfront model this is one of the best 1.99 purchases I ever made. The game may be simple the it hooks you the whole way through and I’m probably 2 hours into this game If you need a review to convince you to buy this is the one! 10/10
In a time when cooking games are riddled with in-app purchases and ads, I’m happy to see one that is just $1.99 upfront so that you can avoid all of that. I also like that it centers around the new Disney series Iwájú! There seems to currently be 300 levels in the game which is okay but hopefully more are added in an update. I also think it would be cool to add a bit of life (animation) to the location selection screen as nothing moves and there aren’t any characters visible (at least so far).
This is a really fun game that ramps up pretty quickly. My problem is I’ve gotten to a point where my customer happiness is at 45% and the game doesn’t say what I’m doing wrong. I’ve played this level many times and I don’t believe I’m doing if differently than other levels. Would help if it told you where you need to fix what you’re doing.
No matter how hard I tap on my phone it seems like I’m not selecting anything. Please upgrade the tactile sensitivity to make the game worth playing. Every time I tap on something it seems like it’s not registering and I have to hold my phone at a weird angle just to get it to select.
This game has no bad adds and it’s good for my sister pls parents get this app for child like me I’m a child and this is a good game and pls I wish you allah blessings I wish you a happy ramdam season
My wife and I are having so much fun playing this game!
