Defend It! AR is a fantastic showcase for what augmented reality can bring to the tower defense genre. By using your device's camera to map a wall in your real-world environment, the game creates a literal portal into another dimension where robotic enemies emerge. The immersion is top-notch; physically moving your phone to aim and fire your blaster while managing your turrets makes the experience feel much more active than a traditional mobile game.
The game offers a surprising amount of depth with 100 levels and an endless wave mode for those who want to test their endurance. The upgrade path for your weapons and turrets provides a steady sense of progression, and the haptic feedback adds a nice tactile layer to the combat. While it requires a bit of space and good lighting to work perfectly, it’s one of the most polished AR experiences on the App Store. It turns your living room into a futuristic battlefield in a way that feels genuinely innovative.
100 challenging levels
Endless wave mode for high scores
Immersive ARKit wall-mapping technology
Upgrade path for blasters and turrets
Haptic device rumble for immersive feedback
Find a well-lit wall and scan it with your camera. Once the game world is anchored, you can place your defenses. Physically move your phone to aim at the incoming robots.
Manage your energy to build different types of turrets. Some are better for flying enemies, while others deal heavy damage to ground units. Tap the screen to fire your own blaster to assist your towers.
It requires an iOS device with ARKit support (iPhone 6s and later).
I can see myself playing this for hours, but I can’t because I died so quickly so easily. I tried 12 and there’s no way that I can get to that level. The increasing skill level is just too much. I typically die at stage five and can’t get any farther without skipping stages. I hope for either more bonus/improve gun Features or less bots until later on in the game. I broke a sweat and that’s why I love it because I was up moving gaming and having fun.
But not where you want it to. This is the ultimate game for when you’re on your bathroom break (or even your lunch break). At your local burger joint? Now the diner booths serve as a battle station. But, you probably want to play this at home. Maybe even to show it off to family and friends. Well...you most likely can’t. The bathroom stalls and diner booths have some type of texture and graphic print to hide those STAINS and unless you are a tasteless being(like the graphics and design dude for Nickelodeon in the early 2000s), the walls at home are plain and lit up by only a couple lights in the middle because having lighting across the ceiling is impractical and lets everyone know that your an adult that’s still scared of the dark. Defend It A game capable of immersing the player in a secret world of evil alien robots that hide in the walls of a metaphysical inside place using AUGMENTED REALITY. But just not your insides, not yet, AR is still in its’ early stages.
This game is fun to play. It feels satisfying to shoot the gun and has a great art style. The levels are good. However, the robots do not cast shadows while in the cave, and do not have other visual cues to show their distance and height. Overall, great game.
Works incredible and it is really fun. People need to read the description before complaining about it not working in blank walls.
It’s is a very good game and can kill time, and I like the graphics ,but it was hard to find a wall
When I scan the wall, the first time it worked, but the second time essence keeps telling me no surface detected, even though I’m clearing showing the surface am I forgetting something?
It doesn’t work and many walls I’ve only been able to play once and it was on a brick wall when I was outside. I’m in a well lit room and there is a clear pattern but it still won’t work
I really wanted to like this, but it just doesn’t work anywhere. Regular walls don’t work. Game play is slow and sluggish. AR is getting better and hopefully this game returns with improvements.
