Day of the Tentacle Remastered is a masterclass in how to bring a classic point-and-click adventure into the modern era. Originally a sequel to Maniac Mansion, this game follows three unlikely friends—Bernard, Hoagie, and Laverne—as they traverse through time to stop a mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world. The writing remains some of the sharpest in gaming history, packed with Douglas Adams-style wit and intricate, multi-era logic puzzles that require you to change the past to affect the future.

The remastering work is impeccable. The hand-drawn high-resolution artwork looks like a living cartoon, yet purists can swap back to the original pixel art at any moment. The audio, including the iconic voice acting and musical score, has been cleaned up beautifully. On mobile, the touch interface feels surprisingly natural, making the 'verb-object' interaction style feel less like a chore and more like an organic exploration of the environment. Chron-O-John Logistics

To pass items between characters in different centuries, use the Chron-O-John units. Flushing an item in the present allows it to be retrieved by a character in the past or future.

Changing History

Stuck in the future? Try changing something in the past. For example, cutting down a tree in the 1700s might remove an obstacle for Laverne in the future.

Superb, but difficult

I love puzzle games. Riven, The Room Series, Tengami, etc. so of course I had to get this one. This game is perfectly executed as far as characters and controls, but it is also extremely difficult! You really need to think outside of the box to move forward. My only constructive criticism is that for cutscenes, you can skip them just by holding your finger on the screen, which is just a bit too easy. And there’s no way to replay it, so key information can be missed.

This game is exactly what I was looking for! I miss the old point & click adventures from when I was a kid, and this is wonderfully done! Some of the puzzles were difficult but the characters were hilarious and I like how long the game was. I don’t like the press and hold to skip scenes. I missed some dialogue by accident because I would touch the screen thinking it was time for me to do something and I skipped stuff instead. And there’s no way to go back and hear it again. So that was frustrating. I’d rather have a confirmation do you want to skip this? All in all, one of the best games I have played in a long time and I hope to find more games like this one!

This game was incredible as a kid and this app is flawless! If you are like me, then you want the original sound and graphics. This app delivers with both the original graphics and the updated graphics as options. I loved it and continue to enjoy it. Buy it now! You won’t regret it. :) Developers: Please consider a part 2! Get the old cast together and see what new adventures you guys can come up with!

Hilarious and a great game.

I played Day of the Tentacle back when it came in a box with five floppy discs to install it. To see it getting remastered I had to try it again. It is just as hilarious, challenging, and addictive the second, third, and fourth times. I even have my ten year old addicted to the game. One of the most memorable and fun games I have ever played and that’s saying a lot.

I love that this is an app. I used to play this all the time as a kid and it’s just like the original. So glad this is out. My only complaint is I wish you could see the list of achievements. It shows it at the top when you get it but it would be nice to see how many more I can get. Also you should make a DOTT #2

Great!! Fix for no sound!

Played this game as a kid in the 90s and loved it!! Excited to play again! Was nervous to read reviews saying no sound, and when I started it I had no sound either and was worried! All you have to do and turn your phone off of silent mode. Fixed the problem!

Thank You for this game! Just started to play and I used to play in the 90’s. Should have a feature where you can switch to the mouse pointer. BTW I see last update was 8 years ago but still works on the iPhone 16 pro.

Rich Story, Mouse not officaly supported, but it works. Please add hot keys for keyboard players. It would really help. This 1993 DOS Classic is an all time hit, and with remastered music as well the original, that is GREAT!!!!!!!!! Thank you double fine, for bringing this award winning point and click adventure title to IpadOS, IOS , And MACOS!!!
