■Update Notes
・Minor bug fixes.
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is a masterclass in the visual novel genre, blending high-stakes murder mystery with a stylish, neon-drenched aesthetic. Trapped in Hope's Peak Academy by the sadistic robotic bear Monokuma, you play as Makoto Naegi, forced into a 'killing game' where students must murder each other to escape. The narrative is tight, suspenseful, and filled with genuinely shocking twists that keep you glued to the screen.
The gameplay is split into 'Daily Life' and 'Deadly Life' segments. During investigations, you scour the school for clues and build relationships with your eclectic classmates. The real highlight, however, is the Class Trial. These fast-paced sequences involve shooting down contradictory statements with 'Truth Bullets' and solving rhythm-based logic puzzles to unmask the killer. The mobile port is exceptionally well-done, with revamped UI and touch controls that make navigating the 2.5D environment and intense trials feel natural. It’s a dark, captivating experience that shouldn't be missed.
High-speed deductive action
Stylish 2.5D motion graphics
Completely optimized smartphone UI
Bonus Character and Intimacy Galleries
After a murder occurs, you must explore the academy to gather evidence and testimonies. Every piece of evidence becomes a 'Truth Bullet' for the upcoming trial.
Engage in Nonstop Debates where you must identify contradictions in character statements. Aim your crosshair and fire the correct Truth Bullet to break their arguments.
It includes a revamped UI, touch-optimized controls, and new galleries for viewing character sprites, dialogue, and intimacy events.
Danganronpa is a really great game. I love the mystery and suspense in it and the storyline is just *mwah*🤌. I’ve been playing the game for a while now and I was so close to finishing it! (I think bc I was on *SPOILER* Sakura’s trial) However, I recently started a new game so my friend could play it too since she didn’t have it herself. So she played a little of the prologue we shut my phone off, and we went back on. I clicked on load game, just to find that only her game was saved. There were no other slots full, just that one game that my friend was playing. I’m really bummed, and have been trying countless ways to somehow recover the game. I thought that it shouldn’t be too difficult since digital footprint and all that. I still haven’t recovered it and is it just a simple thing or things I have to click, is it gone for good, or do I have to go to an alternate app?? As I wrote earlier, I was far into the game, so I am really REALLY bummed that I might have to accept defeat and start over the game. But one thing I’m wondering is how do I save games to different slots? There’s clearly lots of slots but as demonstrated by what happened, when I start a new game it just replaces my old one. Anyways, Danganronpa is overall a really great and amazing game. The plot has a way of making you wanna know more, kind of like when you keep flipping the pages in a book because it’s just so interesting. I hope I can buy the other games and enjoy them to the full extent and NOT have another problem like mine right now! I really hope I can recover it and anyone else who has this problem (I know there are MANY) can too!!
I’ll start by saying the game itself is absolutely spectacular and it’s given me great comfort lately despite its dark theme. It’s styling and gameplay is definitely not for everyone, but I personally love it a ton. It’s more plot heavy and has a lot of reading rather than other games where you may run from place to place. BUT there is free roam elements to the game, and is very immersive. Anyways, I could go on, but you’ll just have to see for yourself if you like it personally. For glitches and stuff, I had one occurrence where I changed the audio language after I had already started playing and it seemed to have caused my character to be unable to rotate in the free roam moments of the game. I fixed this by changing the audio back and restarting I think? (I wanted the original voice option anyways) And one time the mono mono machine wasn’t on the counter but when I left the room and came back in it was back again. Last thing I’ll say is that my little sibling deleted the game from my iPad and ALL of my save files were GONE. Soooo, keep in mind this isn’t compatible with game center and won’t have backups if it’s deleted. Luckily though my purchase was still valid and didn’t have to pay again. Other than that the save feature within the game works wonderfully and even has a great auto save, especially handy if the app was still open overnight and auto reloads when you turn it back on. Great game, I totally recommend it and the 16$ was worth it in my opinion! 💜
I got this for my birthday and it's amazing! My only complaint is it takes a few hours to download. But it's not that much of a problem since that’s not the game’s fault. If I could give 100 stars I would. The BTB is a little hard. But this is an amazing game and I don't see why anyone would give this below four stars! :) Edit: so I'm a little farther into the game and I have many more problems. First of all, in chapter 6, there is a glitch that speeds everything up. And I'm not just talking about dialogue. I'm talking about everything you do. And there's no way to fix this in the game. You just have to live with it. Also, a bunch of the items just glitch out. Like in chapter 6, the chicken coop and a bunch of other things disappear from the game. Again, there is no way to fix this. You just have to live with it. And I have no idea what to investigate. There is no way to figure it out without searching it up. And I’ve started to notice that the game drains my battery very fast. And it’s quite annoying to have to charge my phone every 5 minutes just cause the game drains my battery. I hope these things get fixed soon and I can change this review back to 5 stars. But until then, the game is a solid 3.
as far as the game goes it’s great (well actually the trials can annoy me a lot sometimes because they’re inconsistent with what counts as a false statement but that’s neither here nor there. There are several gameplay issues however, nothing too bad, but I would hope to get a fully working game when I buy one. The most noticeable glitch is that any time a % sign is mentioned in the dialogue it does not appear and neither does any of the text that follows. I have encountered this at least 5 times so far so it’s not just a one time thing. Another issue is sometimes the game won’t allow you to change the camera angle until you close the app and open it again. This happened the first time I ever played and I struggled for minutes trying to figure out what was going on. The third issue i’ve encountered is that in my game, once I reached chapter 4, going into the archive room freezes the entire game and you can’t press any buttons whatsoever. Hopefully I don’t need to go in there for an investigation !
This port is absolutely wonderful, I had a blast playing it, and still playing it with all the extra content. Well worth the money and a great way for anyone interested in Danganronpa to get into the series. The only nitpick I have is that there’s two common bugs: not being able to turn your camera when running around and sometimes not being able to teleport. The latter is not a problem as you can just press a different button and it’ll return but the camera issue you have to exit out of the app and return, making it a real pain. Anyway, now that I mentioned the few bugs I’ve ran into, I can say with confidence this is what mobile ports should strive to be. Controls built for mobile and no content taken out from the PS4 and PC counterparts, something that is very rare in mobile ports. Just get this game, I promise you you’ll get a bang for your buck.
So I have wanted to play a Danganronpa game for quite a while, but it is to expensive on ps4 and when it’s on sale i dont have the funds. So I saw this on tablet and I bought it. I was excited to play it, it showed the spike chunsoft logo for a bit and then showed a short loading screen, so far so good, until the title screen. When the title screen showed up it stayed for a split second and crashed. I opened the game again, same story. So i rebooted my device, it seemed to go better because the cunsoft animation was at a higher framerate, but in the title screen same thing happened. Many times, sometimes the title screen would be on for a few more seconds, I thought it was fixed so i tapped the screen to start it but it didn’t respond to it and the game crashed. Maybe my device isn’t compatible with the game? It shouldve shown that, because other games that aren’t compatibke will not download at all and say it’s not compatible with my device, but this game did not show that warning. So this is a problem with the developers? TLDR: game i bought keeps crashing on device and i didn't get a warning of the game not being compatible w/ my device...
I just got this game a month ago and it was pretty good until the 6th trial. It was just back and forth dialogue like normal until I pressed the student handbook and it froze. Keep in mind I was screen recording almost the entire trial and I’d just gotten to the end where the mastermind is revealed. After I’d realized that it froze, I exited the game and reloaded it. At first it was a black screen, but then it showed this message: “An unexpected error has occurred. Please restart the game.” I was a bit confused but I figured it was just glitching out and kept on refreshing it. Turns out that didn’t help one bit. I then proceeded to offload the app but that didn’t work. Restarted my iPad but that didn’t work. I resulted to just deleting the data and seeing if it was still glitching. It didn’t show that screen when I played it after deleting my data, but my progress was gone. I’m not very sad about it, as I already knew what was going to happen, and I had about 10 minutes left until the end of the game, but it was still pretty annoying. *note* I deleted all of the footage that I had recorded of the game, because when I played the mobile version of Danganronpa 2, this same thing happened, but with the first class trial when I failed. It didn’t show any text about “an unexpected error”, just a pitch black screen. But all I had to do was get rid of the footage I had recorded of it, and it was back to normal. That didn’t work with this game. But other than that, This is an amazing game and franchise and I hope to see more ports later on. Just please be more careful with bugs and stuff!
This is a good danganronpa port. The game controls well, and the class trial portions play great! Although, there are some bits that bother me. First of all, the BTB portion of the class trial is slightly off, as the visuals and music are slightly off, but that could just be me. Finally, The auto function is not so accessible, and it’s kinda bothersome to open the menu every time I want to turn on auto. Other than that, this is a good port. Good job, Spike! Edit: I noticed that the BTB timing was fixed, nice! (A tad bit overdue update, but fixed nonetheless.) I noticed another bug, however, mostly with how some of the characters dialog cuts off unexpectedly. For example, in one of Yasuhiro’s Freetime events, he was supposed to say, (and spoiler warning for those who haven’t played it), “At the bare minimum, I’ve got a 20% chance of accuracy,” where in the port it just simply cuts out when he says “20%.” Hopefully this gets fixed in the future. Still, however, it’s a good port, and still worth playing.
