Damage Dealers is a breath of fresh air for the mobile fighting genre. By ditching traditional button-mashing in favor of a rhythm-dance combat system, it creates a gameplay experience that feels both innovative and incredibly nostalgic. The aesthetic—heavily inspired by Jet Set Radio and classic 2D brawlers—is vibrant, stylish, and full of personality.
The perk system is where the true strategy lies. It reminds me of the best parts of Megaman Battle Network, allowing you to modify your character's 'program' to suit your fighting style. Landing a heavy hit in time with the beat is immensely satisfying. It’s an indie gem that proves you can make a complex, addictive fighting game with unique mechanics and a killer soundtrack.
Unique rhythm-dance fighting mechanics
Retro-inspired art style (Jet Set Radio vibes)
Strategic perk and modifier system
Smooth, stylish animations and character designs
Addictive, beat-driven soundtrack
Your damage output is directly tied to the rhythm. Wait for the beat indicator to overlap with your action button to trigger critical 'Perfect' hits.
Arrange your perks to create synergies. Some modifiers work better when placed adjacent to specific attack types, vastly increasing your efficiency.
Engage in 1v1 battles where every punch, kick, and dodge must be timed to the background music's tempo.
Use the 'program modifier' system to install perks that change your character's stats, special moves, and defensive capabilities.
While timing is important, the game includes introductory levels to help you learn the beat, and the perk system allows you to compensate with strategy.
I don’t normally get games on my phone because they are gimmicky and all just the same thing, but this game is really fun and I find myself opening it up whenever I have a spare moment. The characters look amazing and the premise of the game is cool. It took me a minute to figure out how to play because I’m definitely guilty of skipping intros but once I got the hang of it I can’t stop playing!
I've had the pleasure of playing Damage Dealers for a few months now, and it's quickly become one of my favorite mobile fighting games on the App Store. The concept of combining rhythm-dance mechanics with fighting gameplay is innovative and brilliantly executed, blending two of my favorite genres seamlessly. The graphics have a charming indie vibe that evokes nostalgia and keeps me engaged in the game's vibrant environment. The unique art style and smooth animations add to the overall appeal, making each session a delightful experience. If you're looking for a fresh take on mobile fighting games, Damage Dealers is definitely worth downloading.
Damage Dealers is a delightful blend of both new excitement and nostalgic charm that I’m happy to have discovered. It seamlessly blends rhythm mechanics similar to Guitar Hero with a straightforward fighting system, complemented by a perk system that reminds me of Megaman Battle Network’s program modifiers. The result is a surprisingly enjoyable experience that clearly reflects the developers' dedication to merging these genres. Plus, its music and art style evoke memories of classics such as Jet Set Radio, Marvel vs. Capcom, and classic 2D brawlers. If you’re a fan of anything I’ve mentioned I’d highly recommend checking out Damage Dealers, you won’t be disappointed.
Once you get into it, this game’s pretty fun. It’s cool that you can do combos with just your phone’s screen, and the art/style is dope. Plus it’s not too easy to be boring which keeps it competitive Tip: after you learn the basics, skip the tutorials and just learn while you play
It’s actually not a bad game I like the art a lot and the music is actually pretty cool. The levels are detailed and big and the enemies have a lot of variety. Definitely a learning curve with combos and characters but once you get into the swing of it it’s a blast. Alittle buggy though and hard to read some text but overall a dope experience!
There was a bit of a learning curve with the fight mechanics but it didn't take long to grasp. Definitely a fun game with a unique play style unlike any other game I've played in the App Store.
"I found myself a bit clumsy at first with the game. It's fast-paced, and the animation is wonderfully vibrant."
Very fun game !!
