Cornsweeper is exactly the kind of game the App Store needs more of. It takes a formula we all know—Minesweeper—and strips away the Windows 95 'anxiety' factor, replacing it with a cozy, lo-fi vibe that makes you want to curl up with a blanket. The sound of the popcorn popping is incredibly satisfying, and the handcrafted levels ensure that the difficulty curve feels intentional rather than just random.
I particularly love the 'The Stall' mechanic where you can buy items to customize your experience. It gives the game a sense of progression that the original Minesweeper lacked. It’s not a high-intensity game, but it’s perfect for a 10-minute break or a winding-down session before bed. A truly charming experience for puzzle fans.
70 handcrafted story levels
Whimsical, hand-drawn art style
Chill lo-fi original soundtrack
Unlockable Arcade Mode
Pomodoro functionality for productivity
Focus on the corners first. The numbers tell you exactly how many 'explosive' kernels are adjacent. Use the chording feature (double tap) to quickly clear areas once you've flagged the danger zones. If you get stuck, take a breath and listen to the soundtrack—it's designed to keep you focused.
The goal is to clear all 'good' kernels without hitting an explosive one. The game uses traditional Minesweeper logic but adds unique twists and items that can be purchased from 'The Stall' using in-game progression to help solve tougher boards.
While it uses the core logic of Minesweeper, it adds handcrafted levels, unlockable items, a story-like progression, and a much more relaxing atmosphere.
