Devsisters have done it again with CookieRun: Witch’s Castle. This isn't just another match-3 blast game; it’s a deep dive into the lore of the CookieRun universe with top-tier production values. The 'tap-to-blast' mechanics feel incredibly chunky and satisfying, with combos resulting in screen-clearing explosions of frosting and sprinkles.
The real hook here is the castle decoration. As you clear levels, you restore rooms in the Witch's Castle, uncovering the mystery of how the Cookies first escaped. The voice acting is superb, and the character interactions are genuinely funny. It feels like playing through an animated movie. If you’re a fan of the franchise, this is an essential play. If you're new, it's the most polished entry point into the world of GingerBrave and his friends.
Satisfying tap-to-blast puzzle mechanics
Deep castle decoration and customization
Rich story and lore from the CookieRun universe
Dozens of unlockable and playable Cookies
Live events and competitive team rankings
Combine rockets and bombs for a massive area-of-effect blast. Saving your power-ups until you can use them together is the key to clearing the 'hard' and 'super hard' levels.
Spend 'Stars' earned from puzzles to pick furniture and wallpaper. Each room has multiple design themes, allowing you to create a castle that reflects your personal style.
Not at all! Witch's Castle serves as a prequel/origin story that is perfect for newcomers.
As a long time cookie run fan, I’m so happy to see the Devsisters listening to their fans! You can now use your special moves three times other than one (if at a certain level) getting the giant bear jelly blast moves is a lot more common now! They made the levels in general a lot easier by putting blocks that actually help you demolish the ones you need in order to beat the level. There’s even a new set of levels that were a lot easier than the previous ones💕you receive event gifts more frequent now too! I’ve been seeing the devsisters getting so much backlash and hate from this game. Which I really think it is way more than what they deserve since the game is still new and it is getting better. Yes there are things that still need work (like being able to buy furniture that you already received and getting 5 cookies or instead of just one or just being able to get more in the gacha by a single draw imo) but you can really see they are listening to their criticism and you should give them credit for that. I’m so happy to be a cookierun fan and I hope this game will keep improving!
I came to this game from Cookie Run: Kingdom, as I've become obsessed with it, and while I like switching things up, seeing other characters and playing different types of games, I go long periods of time without touching this game and its other counterparts, like Ovenbreak, because the game's UI is very different from Kingdom. My first issue is that there's too many notifications. Every time you get a new item, you get a notification that you have to go into your inventory to get rid of, and the gachas are always trying to get you to spend currency other than tickets and gacha tokens with a notification there that you cannot get rid of until you're out of in-game currency, while in Kingdom, you only get gacha notifications when you have tokens/cookie cutters to spend. Not only that, but this game is constantly pushing me to watch ads as the move-counts tend to be too low, so I have to watch ads to not lose lives. I hate being advertised to, so this really gets on my nerves. The game is cute, and really fun, but the overstimulating UI and constant feeling like I'm being rushed makes it hard to play for too long or too often, while I play Kingdom daily and am more inclined to spend money I might make in the future on Kingdom Passes or other little things here and there than on the other games. It's sad, because I really do love this game and the others in the series, I just can't play them too often, because rather than being fun or relaxing, they can stress me out.
It’s a simple and fun but initially was not worth the effort. The first 50 or so levels were easy enough and getting some of the various boosts was relatively easy. Then it’d get harder especially if you use up your cookies life potion, I’d be stuck on a level for a few days before the game finally takes pity on me and I can pass. downside earning life potions was really hard before the update, you had to hope one of the cookies produced it. even now after the update it could be improved, I think earning only 10 life potions is low for every level you complete, on top of the occasional production, I wish it were higher because there were points were all of my cookies would be empty and I’d use all my boosts on very hard levels. I like that there’s now differentials for the level difficulty. I think the gacha system is really poor, too many options from furniture to soulstones, npcs and of course the season gacha. It’s so hard to actually get anything decent and most times it’s either npcs or furniture. The season gacha is even worse, unless you buy it’s so hard to gain enough points to even pull and the probability of getting the seasons cookie is even lower with all the things included in it. I’m a solo player, so even if the game offers free cookies via invitation I don’t have people I could nag into doing it. I do like the game especially after the update, I’m in the 800s but the prizes don’t feel worth it and maybe I’ll just go back to CC or CRK
I was very excited for the game to come out and see what it had to offer. It’s overall an amazing game but needs various ways to get items easier without paying money. The seasonal Gacha currency is not always available to have unless you buy the pass to get extra. This makes it hard for players to get seasonal cookies like Witchberry. The friend event was a good way, but to need each friend to get to level 10 seems a bit much, especially if they aren’t interested. A better way to do this would be get 4 friends to play or invite 10 friends. Levels like 70 are extremely hard and i couldn’t beat it without using at least 3 power ups first. I saw many people complaining about the same thing. The same apply for level 60 and maybe 50 for some. Another thing is Witchberry being a guest cookie in Cookie Run: Kingdom. You have to beat the first chapter, level 70, and all you get is a guest cookie as a reward. You get more things but Witchberry is what people are looking forward to and possibly using her in arena. She’d be a good epic cookie, especially for beginners, because there no massive grinding involved in getting her. This would be a good way to get people to play both games for different rewards in each. It’s an amazing game but it could be better.
Okay, to start off, the good news. The graphics are amazing—I LOVE the animation when you complete a level, and you can tell they put a lot of effort into the story animations. It is also pretty quick, and can be a fun time-passer when you don’t have anything to do. However, the game is still lackluster currently. The gacha system is really annoying, and it usually tricks you that you’re getting an epic(or rare) when you aren’t. Getting cookies is really tedious, most of the time you only get one soulstone(the thing you need to unlock the cookies, you need about twenty). Also, you always get the same cookies or cookie soulstones in the gacha. This may be an issue with the game not having many cookies for now, but I only got one epic (besides the guaranteed one). Also, it is a bit difficult to get coins. I’ve only really gotten ~120 per match, and you need 1000 to do one gacha. This can be less of an issue if you’re willing to grind, but for newer players(me) it is fairly discouraging. It can also get boring after a while, as it can sometimes seem like a huge cash-grab. The elements made to hook players in are really obvious, and it gets annoying quick. But since it’s a new game, I understand that it’s not fully perfect or polished. As a huuuge fan of the Cookie Run series(been a fan for almost 4 years), and a not very big fan of candy crush-esc games, it managed to pull in my attention. The character designs are cute and simple, just enough to make it work. I have high hopes for it. Would I recommend it? Maybe. It depends on how much time you have and your attention span.
i haven’t wrote many reviews before, but i felt compelled to write one here because of something that i just experienced. so, i’ve had the game for a few weeks now and i’ve enjoyed it a lot! i have experience with previous cookierun games, and haven’t had a truly negative experience. however, since downloading this game - i’ve been experiencing game crashes. it’s not the biggest deal in the world, but i have a stable internet connection and have made space for the capacity of this game, so i don’t understand why it happens so often - however that’s not my main issue. my main issue is with the fact that it mainly crashes whenever i try to participate in the gacha mechanic in the game and it steals the coins/tickets i used without giving me whatever i rolled. i just attempted to draw my first ten (10) cookies with coins and when it got to the icing screen, the game crashed and when i opened it again, i no longer had my full amount of gacha coins or anything to show for my usage of them. i’ve had this happen with the gacha tickets a few times, but not to the point of major concern (until now). i do genuinely enjoy this game, i just feel robbed and i wanted to share this experience as an attempt to air my grievances.
I’ve been brightly looking forward to this game ever since I heard that it would be coming out over a year ago. I was really excited for GingerDozer’s return into a Cookie Run game for the first time in over a decade, as he is my favorite cookie. However, this game turned out to be very disappointing in terms of gameplay. Don’t get me wrong, the art, cutscenes, and story are all great and stunning to look at (especially GingerDozer, he’s adorable!). But the rest of the game lags behind in quality. I’m at level 95 (or something close to that) and it’s completely impossible to progress now. It’s painstakingly obvious that if you want to get anywhere in the game, you need to pay for boosters, more moves, or power-ups. If the levels are as hard as they are now, you’d have to pay hundreds just to get anywhere in the game! I don’t want to have to spend my money just to enjoy Dozer’s much-deserved return into a game (this is the only reason I played). Not even to mention the horrid gacha system and how it’s nearly impossible to get currency to draw from the special cookie gacha. That is, unless you pay for currency. When you do end up with a draw, you have to roll dice for five separate categories and there’s only a chance that you’ll be able to then roll for a cookie. I wanted to be able to enjoy a game with Dozer/ GingerDozer, but this game is anything but enjoyable to play. Please, do better next time.
The new cookie run game may seem like a knock-off candy crush at first, but it’s so much more! But there are a few flaws that I will address, but first let’s explain the fun and cool stuff! When you start, it’s immediately super cool and fun! There is a really cool almost stop motion part where everything’s made of clay, and the game itself is super fun! It’s somewhat like candy crush, but at the same time not at all. The new cookies, and the use of skills give an element to other past games such as Cookie Run: Ovenbreak and Cookie Run: Kingdom. The gacha in the game is also cool, and the special witch berry season is super cute! But with every beauty, there are definitely some flaws.. Immediately your blasted with them trying to get you to spend money on almost everything in the game, witch berry cookie, crystals, special rewards, etc. but the one thing that makes it super hard is how they added the usage of the life potion things. At first it’s super easy to get tons of them and it’s super easy to get a lot. But if you run out there is no way to use the cookies skill at all without spending money. And even if you do have enough, you need to spend crystals to get more uses FOR ALL THE COOKIES. I used all my epics and rare cookies trying to beat level 59, and I ran out. So then I used Gingerbrave and Gingerbright and once they ran out of skills I finally had enough of the potions it wouldn’t let me use them without spending money. I literally can’t beat the level without using the cookies skill so I’m stuck until they release other events for me to get more of the items I need to beat stupid level 59 😭 anyways great game but please make it easier to get items and not so pay to win.
