Clever Cubed (also known as Schmidt Spiele's Clever Hoch Drei) is a strategic dice game where you must optimize your scores across five distinct categories. Each die you choose filters out other dice for your opponents (or the 'passive' pile in solo), making every selection a critical decision. Use your re-rolls and 'extra die' bonuses strategically to create explosive combos that fill your sheet and maximize your points.

91/100

Clever Cubed is the pinnacle of the 'Roll and Write' genre on mobile. It is the third installment in the 'Ganz Schön Clever' series, and it introduces a layer of complexity that will delight veterans of the previous games. The game is a giant logic puzzle where every die you pick has a ripple effect on your future turns.

What I love about the mobile version is how it handles the 'chain reactions.' Watching one well-placed die trigger three other bonuses across different colored zones is immensely satisfying. It’s a game of 'just one more try' as you attempt to optimize your path and beat your previous high score. It’s clean, fast, and mentally stimulating—an absolute essential for puzzle lovers.

Fun if you know how to play

I love this series of dice games, including this version. However it may be difficult to learn if you don’t know how to play. Also, I found a bug in the app and can’t figure out how to let the developers know. It’s in the teal section when you complete the column of 3’s and are supposed to earn a yellow bonus. The bonus doesn’t pop up. It has happened twice to me now.

Inconsistent interface

I love the physical games of this series, but these digital implementations have serious problems. For example: I have my devices set to use English as the system language. When you launch the app, the main screen is in English, but if you want to login to your account and enter your email, the verification page is in German. Fortunately I lived in Germany for aeveral years and can read the page, but this shows very poor QA on your end. And ALL of these three apps have the same problem. Also, the rules page has several grammar and spelling problems and it shows poor translation. For example, the English name for the app is Clever Cubed, but the rules page says “Clever High Three”, which is a transliteration of “Clever Hoch Drei”. Very, very poor QA on these apps

Better...

Now that they've resolved the login issues things are better, but, unless I'm missing something obvious, I can't find any way to bring up help/instructions in-game. The instructions are perfectly accessible from the Main Menu, but once the game has started I see no way to look up a rule or get clarification what a given symbol on the board means. This game is FAR from intuitive, and to think a new player can completely memorize all of the game's many idiosyncrasies once in a game is ridiculous.

Sign in problems.

Seriously folks fix your app sign in issues Cartographers simply refuses to recognize my email and this Clever app claims to have sent a code to my email but it never arrives.
