Build and Play is an interactive 3D workshop designed for curious young minds. Children choose from a variety of vehicles—including airplanes, racing cars, and construction trucks—and must assemble them piece-by-piece. By dragging components like wheels, engines, and wings into the correct spots, kids develop fine motor skills and a basic understanding of how things are made. Build and Play is an exceptional educational title that masterfully bridges the gap between digital interaction and real-world mechanical understanding. As a child development media expert, I was impressed by the 'exploded view' assembly mechanic. It forces children to understand how parts fit together—wheels go on axles, wings go on fuselages—before the vehicle can be used. This promotes spatial reasoning and problem-solving in a way that feel like pure play.
The reward for building is immediate and satisfying: you get to pilot your creation in a vibrant, interactive environment. The 3D graphics are chunky and toy-like, which is perfectly suited for its target demographic of preschoolers. It’s a clean, safe, and highly imaginative 'digital toolbox' that encourages kids to explore how things work. It’s easily one of the best 'STEM-lite' apps available for early learners.

Tips & Walkthrough
Start by picking a blueprint from the main menu. Drag the large parts first, like the body of the plane. Once the main structure is in place, the smaller ports will highlight, showing you exactly where the wheels and propellers need to go. Listen for the 'click' sound to know the part is locked in!
Gameplays
After building, tap the 'Play' icon. You can then use the virtual joystick to fly your plane around the clouds. Tap on environmental objects like birds or balloons to see fun animations.

Sat Jun 01 2013 bajeboothWhat a joy this app is! Build and Play 3d gives little builders a chance to construct 8 different vehicles and a robot. All pieces are snap to place, and the vehicles automatically rotate depending on where the piece should fit. You do need to get the pieces close to where they need to be - although this may be difficult for some kids, it does promote good attention and fine motor skills. You can also rotate them in space, gaining unique 3d viewing. Once your toy is constructed, you are rewarded with an animation of your vehicle in action. There are no IAP, ads, or links in this app, and once learned, kids could play independently. This app has so many opportunities for learning.

Sat Jun 27 2015 EricFacilitatorAnd, I like that he gets to practice putting things together without actually breaking things or losing pieces or leaving small pieces to be swallowed by his little brother. I would like the little games that they can play with the toys to be a little bit more interactive though. Some of them have a few buttons that can be played with. Others are much more simple and seem to be a little bit more boring. Overall though, I would give it five stars for now. My boys only played with it for one day so far though.
Not much different than other puzzle apps
Fri Dec 19 2014 Caveat Pre-emptorUpdate 19 Dec 2014: I was updating all my apps and noticed this one, and that the update notes said, "Cross-promotion bug fixes." It's outrageous that I have to use 176MB of my monthly data limit for this reason. Funny, I didn't even remember rating this one six months ago. Now I'm downgrading my rating to 2 stars. I was taken by the rave reviews, but really, this app is not much different from other puzzle apps available here. Sure, once the puzzle is complete the item can be made to move or make a noise, but it's low-level entertainment. Maybe it's great for under-threes, but my nearly four-year-old played with them once, and he's kind of done. Not worth the money for just one afternoon's entertainment, compared to what else is available. I do like that there is no in-app purchase, though.
Fun for a toddler
Sun Aug 31 2014 Laura Beth Measamer JohnsonThis has the potential to be a really awesome app. Our 2 yr old loves to build the items and play with them however he gets frustrated when he plays with them. He is frustrated for a few reasons: 1.each vehicle operates in a different way-some you have to just tap the arrow and others you have to hold your finger on the arrow for it to go, 2. He wants them to do more, and 3. He has a hard time building them, maybe the margin of error could be enlarged? All in all he really likes this app and I can see already some improvements in the last update. Keep improving and you'll have an amazing app!

My 3 yr old grandson absolutely loves this app. I could go on and on about all he is learning and how focused he is - which is true - but when it gets right down to it, he just enjoys it so much. I have purchased all of this developers apps that are age appropriate for him and it is money very well spent. Seeing the joy on his face is priceless.
