Our Expert Score

94/100

Blue Block is a charming and deceptively deep puzzle game. While the 'unblock' mechanic is a familiar one, Blue Block wraps it in a lovely mythological story about a Blue Dragon and a Dark Knight that gives the puzzles a sense of purpose. With a staggering 44,000+ puzzles, it's essentially an infinite source of logic challenges.

The visual quality is excellent, with a clean aesthetic that makes long play sessions easy on the eyes. The difficulty curve is well-managed, offering everything from toddler-friendly grids to 'Expert' puzzles that will stump even veteran solvers. It's a polished, content-rich experience that stands out in a crowded genre.

There are other slide block puzzle apps available, but don't bother with them. This app features good gameplay, optimal (minimum) moves to complete each level, and A LOT of levels. This game is made even better by the cool music, graphics, and sound effects. Get it now!!

Great application

I have downloaded 4 or 5 "Rush hour" type applications (not the free versions) and this is IMO the best one. I like the user interface and the fact that it posts the least number of moves (PAR) for every puzzle. The number of puzzles is huge and I don't think it it possible to solve them all. I agree with some of the suggested enhancements from User3000. In addition, I would like also the option of changing block appearance: for example, brushed steel and brushed brass blocks, carrara white and green marble blocks, light and dark wood blocks. The white and blue block theme should remain the default also because the name of the game is blue block.

Really nice start

Obviously, there are many other games like this one. What sets this one apart is the style and beauty of its layout, plus the sheer number of puzzles. Two things would put this game into the top echelon. 1. Needs sound fx badly. 2. A scoring system. For example, perhaps you could get a diamond, gold, silver, or bronze rating. Diamond would be if you completed the puzzle in the absolte minimum number of moves, gold would be up to an additional 25%, silver would be up to an additional 50%, and bronze would signify that you did complete the puzzle. This way, you could keep track of how well you are doing and go back and try to improve on the puzzles where you only received a bronze (for example), and eventually, try to get as many diamonds as you can.

A great version of the moving block game with all the features!

I tried several versions of the moving block puzzle and like Blue Block best. Nice block design and a very clean interface make for a pleasant experience, but this one includes the "par" rating to shoot for and tracks your move number so you know how much improvement is needed. It includes a HUGE number of puzzles and tracks your progress through them, allowing replay of any earlier puzzle if desired. All in all a great implementation of a classic at a bargain price.

I incorrectly stated earlier that Blue Block's recent update had, like some other programs, removed features without notice. I was incorrect in that review, confused by the Puzzles page which showed one block available and the number 5. In fact, the creator of the app informs me that there are thousands of puzzles in the free version. I regret the error and, as I said, I really like the puzzles, so am upping the rating accordingly. A good puzzle game to keep the wits sharp. And yes, with plenty of puzzles.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you developers!

Need hint or skip

This app is very nice and the puzzles are fun. My main complaint is that you can't go to the next puzzle on a level with completing the previous puzzle. This doesn't make any sense since the puzzles do get progressively harder or have any other connection to each other. Please either allow skipping to the next puzzle without completing a puzzle, or provide a hint/unblock feature to help with completing a puzzle. Otherwise if I'm stuck on a puzzle the whole game becomes useless, at least on that difficulty level, until I can solve it.

Amusing and Fun!

I am enjoying this game very much. It is definitely worth the $0.99, I purchased this while travelling across several US states by car. My main quibble is that (as near as I can tell) the number of moves listed as 'par' is truely the minimum moves possible. This is merely minor aggravation (as par means average not minimum) that I can cope with. Tape on the screen or whiteout works well. (Ha. Bad joke. I believe I have been in the car too long.)
