As a long-time fan of the original Meteorfall, I was skeptical about the shift to a grid-based system, but Krumit's Tale absolutely nails it. It’s one of the most refreshing takes on the roguelike deck-builder genre I've played in years. The tactical depth provided by the 3x3 grid makes every run feel like a high-stakes puzzle.
The presentation is top-tier; the art style is charming and the voice acting for Krumit adds so much personality to the experience. What really keeps me coming back is the 'perk' system, which allows for some truly broken and satisfying synergies. It’s challenging without feeling unfair, and the mobile interface is perfectly optimized for one-handed play. If you like Slay the Spire or Monster Train, this is a mandatory download.
Diverse hero roster with distinct mechanics
Over 20 unique enemies and challenging bosses
Dynamic grid-based deck-building gameplay
Stunning hand-drawn art style
Offline play support
Success in Krumit's Tale depends on your ability to manipulate the 3x3 grid. Always look ahead at the next tiles in the stack. Use your hero's abilities to clear monsters efficiently while conserving gold for high-value items that synergize with your build.
Every card in the grid costs gold to acquire or health to fight. Players must balance their 'perks' and 'equipment' to scale their power before facing the boss. Removing unwanted cards from the grid grants gold, adding a layer of resource management to every move.
While set in the same universe, it features entirely new grid-based mechanics compared to the swipe-based original.
