Bug fixes.
Beat Hazard 2 is a sensory-overload masterpiece. As a sequel to the cult classic, it doubles down on the 'Music Driven' gameplay that made the first one so unique. The brilliance here is the 'Open Mic' system, which allows the game to analyze audio from almost any source—Spotify, YouTube, or your local files—and turn it into a bullet-hell level. The intensity of the waves and your firepower are literally dictated by the tempo and beat of the music.
The visual effects are stunning, albeit incredibly bright (use the intensity slider if you value your retinas!). The procedural generation of boss ships based on the track's metadata adds a layer of 'discovery' to your own music library. It's a twin-stick shooter that makes you feel like a conductor of chaos. If you love shmups and have a favorite high-energy playlist, this is an essential purchase.
Music-driven gameplay synchronization
Open Mic system for external music sources
Procedurally generated boss ships
Stunning, customizable visual effects
Choose tracks with high BPM and dynamic range for the best experience. High-energy sections of a song will trigger 'Super Beam' mode, allowing you to clear the screen of enemies instantly.
Earn perks and upgrade your ship's starting weapons. Focus on 'Shield' duration and 'Score Multiplier' to survive the intense boss fights found in longer tracks.
Yes, through the 'Open Mic' feature, the game can listen to any audio playing on your device and generate levels accordingly.
Will update review soon.
It’s a great game and I’ve had zero problems…my only issue is, like some others have said, my phone getting hot quickly and the battery draining. Perhaps there’s just too much going on? Idk but hopefully there’s a fix…otherwise you should only play for short periods of time which is incredibly disappointing.
Loved, LOVED the first version of the game, played it forever. Second version came out, and I saw it wasn’t updated for years, seem to recall it running hot for others. Saw it was updated and took the plunge, only to watch the authorization screen go on and on and never took me to the game. Tried again. Turned off the app. Turned off the phone. Still no dice. Runs hot AND can’t play the game. Sure hope they fix it soon. First one was so much fun…
Haven’t got to play this once since I bought it. Keeps crashing after it asks me what controls I want to use
I enjoyed the first one so much! Yet, I felt that this was a HUGE step backwards. Yes, it’s beautiful, but there are things that I miss from the first one that aren’t in BH2. One thing is the floating screen... I can’t stand that the screen doesn’t move with the ship, like in the first one. My thumbs get in the way of some ships and end up getting destroyed. Another things is why remove the single thumb control?! I played this game because I wanted to chill and have a visual experience while listening to music that I store on my phone, but the dual stick wasn’t for me. Lastly, the GAME RUNS EXTREMELY HOT and this is coming from an iPhone 12 user. It’s unfortunate, but I actually want a refund. This is sub par to the first one. The only reason that I even went from the first one to this one was because I wanted to support the developer; however, this is not what I expected.
Crashes on IOS 17.2 iPhone 13 Pro. Completely unusable.
I used to play the first one in an iPod. I saw an ad and downloaded it. It is not compatible with Apple Music, so if you think you can play songs from there it won’t. After one song the phone has heat up so much that I got a warning to have the phone cool down before using again. It works great with an Xbox one controller with little to no lag input. If there’s a patch that fixes the heating problem I’ll probably come back to edit this review. Also have more songs added.
Sadly, the updates made no difference for me. The battery drain is worse than any game I've played in many years and after one song, my phone got searing hot right through the case like I left it in the car during the summer. This is all on low graphics and 10% effects. I'll have to drop my rating because for me, the game is unplayable now. It's not good for the phone to get constantly this hot. I'm going to have to remove this app unfortunately.
