Beam on a Star: Forest Quest is an incredibly soothing puzzle adventure that feels like a warm hug for your brain. It takes the classic 'light reflection' mechanic and wraps it in a stunning, hand-painted aesthetic that makes every level feel like a piece of art. The way the starlight glows as it hits the ancient crystals and illuminates the dark forest floor is truly beautiful. It’s a rare game that manages to be challenging without ever becoming stressful.
The progression is expertly handled. It starts with simple mirrors, but soon you're dealing with prisms that split light into different colors, moving platforms that require perfect timing, and woodland spirits that react to the light. The story is told gently through the environment, making you feel like you're truly restoring life to a sleeping world. The music is a highlight—soft, ethereal, and perfectly synced with the magical atmosphere. If you’re a fan of 'Monument Valley' or 'Zen Bound,' this will be your new favorite puzzle escape.
Stunning hand-painted forest environments
Innovative light-reflection and color-mixing puzzles
Whimsical storyline with woodland spirits
Ethereal and relaxing soundtrack
Prisms don't just reflect; they split white starlight into primary colors. If a spirit flower requires 'Yellow' light, you'll need to find a way to merge the red and green beams created by your prisms to reach it.
If a level has too many mirrors to track, look for the 'Firefly.' Activating it will show you the exact angle for the first mirror in the chain, helping you orient the rest of the puzzle.
No, the game is designed to be a relaxing experience. You can take as long as you need to find the perfect angle.
I downloaded this game for my nine-year-old and unbeknownst to me at the time I would be the one that became addicted. Don’t get me wrong, my daughter loves it and plays it with her cousin all the time, but I find it almost therapeutic. It was a little stressful at first as I have never been a big fan of playing games, therefore not very good at it but once I got the hang of it, I couldn’t stop playing. The graphics are good and it’s always fun to see your favorite Star Forest characters popping through, especially the little star slugs!
I’m using an iPhone SE (2020 model) running iOS version 18.1.1. The game itself is just fine. The ONLY problem is that on the Game Over screen, the back and home buttons don’t work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, but that didn’t help. I am forced to force close the app and start it again each time. I am giving this app two stars because of this major issue. I hope that this issue will be fixed soon. UPDATE: The previous issue was fixed, but now there’s another one. There is no sound whatsoever. I personally think the most recent update may be causing it. I tried another app, and the sound was working just fine. In the meantime. I have raised my rating to 4 stars. Hopefully, the sound problem will be fixed soon. UPDATE 2: Please disregard the previous update. It turns out I had turned on silent mode by mistake. I apologize to the publishers, developers, and other players for any confusion I may have caused.
Obviously, the style is amazing. The game is really cute and has inclined me to play it multiple times, but since this game is new and I want it to be better here are the critiques: Repetitive. I’m not far into the game, I don’t know if the game style changes or the if the level changes since based on the photos given in the description, it just looks like the scene changes. The same music is played from when you load up the game, to when you play the game, to when you die and it just repeats. The same sound plays when you tap the screen and a different (but same sound) plays when you navigate around the menu on the main screen Things I like: It’s not a boring endless game and it has lots of potential. Keep it up!!!!!
It was so difficult for me at first but each time I play it gets more intuitive. I keep discovering fun new things about it and man, the dopamine is rich when I level up!
Does not work on my iPad mini running iOS 15. Tried it on my much larger work iPad running iOS 18 to see what the problem was and it runs fine on there, but there’s a couple of splash screens the game displays before the start menu and my iPad mini only displays the first one before switching to a dark screen with no audio. Still a fun game to play when it works and I know you’re doing a lot of debugging as is, but it’d be nice to have it working on my iPad mini.
This game has been so much fun for me!! I’ve been needing a game that itches my nostalgia and this is definitely doing just that. Love love love. Also the music is amazing
It has the feel of old iPhone games like Flappy bird and Jetpack Joyride, and it has a kickass soundtrack. Genuinely glad i stumbled across this, it’s actual peak 🥹🔥
Nostalgia mixed with the right amount of challenge and pure fun! This game is the perfect mix of retro arcade vibes and colorful adventure. Works great on my iPhone!!!✨😊
