Our Expert Score

87/100

Astonishing Football '26 is a deep, surprisingly personal take on the sports management genre. While most mobile simulators focus purely on the numbers, AF26 manages to inject some soul into your franchise. The ability to draft prospects and watch them grow into all-stars—or even participate in a 'Legends Contest'—makes you feel genuinely invested in your roster. It’s refreshing to see a game that values tactical play-calling as much as team building, allowing you to create custom plays and outsmart the AI.

One of its best features is how consumer-friendly it is. Being able to play entirely offline without being bombarded by ads or data requirements is a rare find today. The addition of online ranked modes and leaderboards provides that competitive edge for when you want to see how your squad stacks up against the world. It’s an easy-to-learn but hard-to-master sim that hits all the right notes for American football fans who want to be more than just a spectator.

Great game some minor improvements needed

I love the game there are just a few things in my opinion that would make it better. I think the fact that you only have your rookies on a 1 year deal (granted it’s zero dollars) it just makes it kinda hard. I think having them on a 3-4 year deal that is low contract and then having to pay them would be better. Another thing is the team building. I could just be confused but I try to find a good balance between my strengths and the opposing teams weaknesses. But then I get game where I get blown out when I do that which shouldn’t make any sense. Overall fun game just needs a few adjustments and it will be even better!

A rough approximation of football

The play selection is janky (and you can’t delete plays from your playbook or see any details about them other than their success rate), the game flow isn’t real (no halftime and kickoffs, punts kinda default start you at a certain distance even if the opposing team punted from midfield which should result in a longer field, not a shorter punt), the play selection and details information is obfuscated and contradictory (why do some passing plays have negative passing bonuses, why do defensive play descriptions not match the penalties they apply, why are medium and long passes used interchangeably, what is the yardage range and success rate of each play?), and the rosters kinda lock each game into starters playing 100% of snaps (which doesn’t let role players shine or really make much sense). Feels like the game lacks a lot of polish (for one, adding custom image URLs don’t even get centered on the spot so logos are cut off and player headshots are off-center) but it also lacks the base level functionality of a game of football that actually makes sense.

This is the least cared game along with the soccer one.

Solid Game

The game overall is good has a great concept and works very well but the main problem that made me stop playing is that you only have 50 million salary cap so it makes it unrealistic and hard to make a good team and keep it good for more than like 2 or 3 seasons. I would also like for the rookies to have all four year contracts to start out with because in the game you have the rookies for like a season and then they leave because most of the time you spent your money on other players. Another problem I have with the game is that signing a free agent takes like 1/5 of your entire salary cap so your team can’t get better. The final problem I have with the game is that defense’s are way to bad like most players on defense are like a 55-70 making the games way to high scoring. Overall a solid game to play for like 3 of 4 seasons until these problems start taking affect but overall a solid game.

A Great Football Management Game!

This game is super fun and addicting! You can play it anytime, anywhere. I would definitely recommend it. I do, however, have a few pointers… I guess? I’m not exactly qualified in game developing, but this is what I got: 1) It would be cool if along with the other stats in the game after you finish a game, you could also see total turnovers 2) The game quick sim system needs to be tweaked. I shouldn’t lose by 20 to a team that has a 20 overall worse defense and a 10 overall worse defense. 3) Good DTs and DEs are virtually nonexistent. The best one in the league I’m playing is like a 75. Most teams have less than 60 overall DTs and DEs. 4) There needs to be more kicker/punter options in the draft. They shouldn’t all be gone after the second round. Other than that, this game is awesome! I look forward to seeing it get better and better! :) Edit: a quick add 5) Sometimes during the draft after I draft a player, the player is still on the draft board, and I can draft him again and get both, and start both on my team. However, when the season ends, both copies of the player automatically leave my team and go into the free agent board.

Game is a little confusing. The “tutorial” is quick, even during the part where he says “There’s a lot going on here!” But doesn’t proceed to really give an explanation to it. The draft is mid-season and you can’t even go back to see which players you need while in the draft—I am forgetful. Also why are my rookies OVR a question mark? Developing players has to be the easiest thing to do if you have money to blow. I’ve probably spent $40 and yet I feel like I progressed no where. Lately, and worst of all is resigning players. I’m unable to differentiate between who’s still signed and who isn’t until it’s too late. It says 1 year 1.0M but then suddenly they’re not on my team anymore? Really cool. Also when I spend $1 for a Super Star 99 OVR and trade them and I get offered a 81 OVR player on a 1 year and they won’t budge at all. 🥲

Best football manager game I’ve played yet

So I’ve never did a review on a game before but this game is so good and I can’t wait to grow with it so I thought I’d offer some feedback what I will say it’s overall the game is awesome for a simulation I love that’s there’s a draft free agency and the overall feel/layout for the game in comparisons to the competition as for now what I will offer is maybe just like the trades make the free agency more competitive so probably make the cpu use there cap space because a lot of them have 50+ mil team building could be worked seems like it doesn’t matter what your strength is medium pass is the best also kinda no difference between elite and legendary players

There is a bit of a learning curve, and so much I don’t know, but this has the potential to be a long term fun game to me. It doesn’t get you started by holding your hand and I think that adds to the intrigue for me. I prefer a football game that doesn’t add graphics for no reason. It doesn’t take up a bunch of power or storage. It’s easy to take a break from calling plays when real life gets in the way. FTP friendly and has an additional game mode i haven’t even explored yet. I’ll give a 5 after a few seasons if there isn’t some game breaking bug or exploit I find. The developer also active on discord. Thank you
