Alice and the Magical Islands is a breath of fresh air for fans of old-school point-and-click adventures. It captures that 90s PC gaming nostalgia perfectly, with hand-drawn backgrounds and logic-based puzzles that actually require you to pay attention to the environment. Unlike many modern 'hidden object' games, this is a true adventure where items in your inventory must be used creatively to bypass Darold M.'s magical traps.
The story is charming and follows a classic fantasy arc, making it accessible for younger players while remaining engaging for adults. The addition of the 'SuperHelp' feature is a smart move—it prevents the frustration common in the genre by giving you a nudge when the logic gets a bit too obscure. It’s a lengthy, well-crafted journey that feels like a labor of love from the developers, especially with its beautiful atmospheric sound design and variety of magical locations.
Classic point-and-click adventure mechanics
Lengthy gameplay—double the size of the previous part
Helpful 'SuperHelp' system for puzzle hints
Atmospheric magical soundtrack
Auto-save functionality
Interact with all objects in Alice's room to find your wand. Use the wand on the magical barrier at the door. Once outside, talk to the dragon to learn the flight path through the magical islands.
Open your inventory to combine items you've found. For instance, combine a flask with magical water to create a potion. These potions are often required to interact with environmental puzzles like growing vines or putting out fires.
The game is available in English, German, French, Czech, Polish, and several other languages.
I have replayed these games many times over the past couple years!! They are exactly the kind of games I love to play...a classic point and click dream come true. I’ve play all the bio spiral games, with the exception of the children’s games they offer. Please please please make more!!! I would LOVE another Alice game, but honestly I’ll take whatever! Thank you so very much for all the hard work that was put into making my favorite game.
Puzzles or not very challenging but game mechanics are tricky such that I could tap 8 times before it registered as doing the correct action. The hint system was useful but I would have preferred to skip going online to access it. The inventory and menu was glitchy so that 1/4 of the time, Alice takes off for the lower left corner which is where you tap to access the menu. I especially liked the 2 cottages puzzle
Great graphics and plot. Missing an option to see all hotspots on the screen. There are so many of them so you can easily miss one. Maybe it’s me but it’s the point and click game I had to use the walkthrough the most. Sometimes the next step is random and hard to figure out.
I’ve really enjoyed all three, including this one. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars mainly because I wish it was longer, and gameplay was a little glitchy in spots.
