fixed a few bugs
A Long Time is a poignant, melancholic journey that feels more like an interactive poem than a traditional puzzle game. CottonGame has a very distinct, hand-drawn art style that evokes a sense of nostalgia and 'mono no aware' (the pathos of things). The central mechanic—guiding a 'red line' of memory through sliding block puzzles—is simple, but it serves as a beautiful metaphor for trying to make sense of a long, complicated life.
While some might find the puzzles a bit basic compared to the developer’s more complex 'Isoland' series, the emotional payoff is where this game shines. It covers 60 years of a protagonist's life, and as you clear obstacles, you're essentially sorting through their grief, joy, and regrets. It’s a short, quiet experience best played with headphones on a rainy afternoon.

Slide the rectangular blocks (fragments of memory) to create a clear path for the red dots to travel from the left side of the screen to the right. Each completed path reveals a new piece of the protagonist's life story.
The game focuses on a 'soothing mood.' Tap on background elements to discover subtle animations that add depth to the hand-drawn environments.
No, it is designed to be a relaxing, story-focused experience rather than a high-difficulty challenge.
I love cotton games and will buy anything they make, just to support them really. This was the least interesting game they’ve released and my least favorite. But I still love them.
I was super-excited to see another game from these devs! Having played both Isoland One, Two, and also The crazy Mr. Pumpkin, I preordered A Long Time with great expectations. Today I cracked it open and, alas, I am just moving puzzle pieces around to allow for a stream of red dots to pass through from left to right. That’s fun for like 13 seconds. Oh well, the new Cube Escape (The White Door) comes out next month, that looks pretty amazing.
This is a beautiful game with a bittersweet story and lovely artwork and music. The puzzles start simple and become more interesting and challenging. Looking forward to the next one.
The concept is simple, but a lot of fun to play. The music, the story, and the illustrations are what make this game great. Such a beautiful little gem, the best game from the developers so far.
