Performance improvements.
A Car That Turns is a rare gem in the hyper-saturated mobile racing genre. Created by the developer of 'A Dark Room,' it eschews the flashy loot boxes and microtransactions of modern mobile gaming for something much more meaningful: pure, skill-based mastery. The premise is simple—drift down mountain passes inspired by Japanese touge culture—but the execution is incredibly deep. The physics of the drift are nuanced; it’s not just about turning, it’s about weight transfer and timing.
The game feels like a digital 'zen garden.' There are no ads to break your concentration, just you and the road. Reaching a state of 'flow' while nailng a perfect drift on Akina Pass is immensely rewarding. It’s a love letter to Initial D and the art of driving. It’s a paid app, but for the price of a coffee, you get a polished, infinite experience that respects your time and rewards your dedication. Truly, this is mobile gaming at its finest.
Zero ads or in-app purchases
Deep, physics-based drifting
Minimalist and polished presentation
Inspired by real-world mountain passes
Focus on the timing of your entry into the corner. Tap and hold to initiate the drift, then feather the controls to maintain your line without hitting the walls.
As you improve your times, you unlock new modes that add difficulty. This provides a natural progression curve that rewards skill rather than spending money.
Yes, A Car That Turns is a fully offline single-player experience with no data collection.
I open this app for the gameplay, not because the game manipulates me into feeling like I have to. It requires concentration and skill when you want to win but has the vibes if you just want to crash and burn into walls dropping prism stones without too much consequence. The better you are the more modes you unlock to add difficulty. The developer is committed to his craft and his community. It’s a great investment of your time and money which is hard to find on the App Store.
Phenomenal example of how well mobile games that take a single, satisfying mechanic and put everything into perfecting it feel to play. Perfect for picking up 3-10 minutes at a time and getting a bit better every lap. Only suggestion; a reset button would be an excellent addition! But honestly, the game loads quick enough just exiting and re-opening works well enough when you have a real bad run.
This Game is fun and definitely a challenge but great for initial d fans. I know this is a random idea but it would be so cool if this game had an idle option where you could watch an ai drifting around on any of the maps in like an idle zen. Would be so cool!
crazy simple but so satisfying. a reset button is desperately needed though and more tracks would be nice. 165 seconds is my best run so far
Specifically, the part of Dark Souls 1 where you’re winding your way through the pitch-black Tomb of the Giants with only sinister glowing lights in the distance to guide you. Am I missing something regarding disabling checkpoints? I don’t have the button and can’t see a way to open a settings menu. Is this feature unlocked through gameplay?
Vary simple and fun to master. I like how it’s just me and the clock. It would be nice if there were a mode that didn’t have checkpoints or a way to start from the beginning immediately. my best time is 165 btw
