3D Pinball: Space Cadet brings the most famous pinball game in history to iOS. Originally a staple of the Windows operating system, this mobile version features the full 'Full Tilt!' table experience. Players must complete a series of space missions by hitting specific targets and ramps to increase their rank. Featuring high-fidelity retro graphics, classic sound design, and smooth 60 FPS gameplay, it's the definitive way to play Space Cadet on the go.

Our Expert Score

85/100

3D Pinball: Space Cadet is a masterfully executed nostalgia trip that brings the iconic Windows 95 experience to the palm of your hand. For those who spent hours avoiding homework in the late 90s, this port is a dream come true. The physics engine feels authentic to the original, capturing that specific 'clunky yet satisfying' gravity that defined the Space Cadet table. The lighting effects on the bumpers and the classic MIDI soundscape are preserved perfectly, creating an immersive retro atmosphere.

What makes this version stand out is how well the touch controls have been integrated. Tapping the sides of the screen to activate the flippers feels natural, and the haptic feedback adds a tactile layer that the PC version obviously lacked. While it remains a single-table experience, the depth of the missions—ranking up from Cadet to Fleet Admiral—provides a surprisingly high ceiling for skill. It is a pure, unadulterated arcade joy that proves great game design is timeless.

Yes, it’s the actual game

Fully playable and everything plus it sounds great, however it’s kinda buggy. The score interface can overlap score/mission text if the game is exited and reentered. Also, the sound can stop playing when exiting and reopening the app too. I think with some bug fixes this could be the best pinball game on ios. Pretty sure the game also runs slower than the windows original

Nostalgic, simple improvements needed to be a 5 star

Echoing what some have posted: Ability to turn music on/off, sound effects on/off individually would be awesome! 👏🏼 High score table: I don’t see how to even edit the default name, “Player 1”. If high scores could be saved to my iCloud, maybe even shared with or forward-able to others, that would be great too. 😁 High scores right now only last as long as the app is open, kind of like a retro Super Nintendo or Arcade game. Also, the physics are super close; but when the ball comes out of the hyperspace launcher, in Windows XP, it would bounce perfectly into the engine launch ramp without any user input, like 90% of the time. On this one, the ball typically hits the edge of the ramp walls instead. Maybe it’s a minor physics difference 🤷🏼‍♂️

Absolute nostalgia

my literal only complaint is how small the screen is, however, it’s totally worth it for that little bit of nostalgia. The size is the only reason for the four star. Took me a hot minute to figure out how to make the little bumpers move in order to actually prevent the pinball from sliding down the center. How to play When you open it, on the right side of the screen, there’s an F2 an F3 and a bracket that basically supposed to be the space bar. For volume, as soon as the game opens tap F2 and it’ll start a new game and that normally turns on the volume. At least it has every time for me. F3 pauses the game. If you hold the 3rd button down that’s how you launch the pinball. tap each lower side of the screen in order for the bumpers to work to hit the pinball.

Better than expected

Was thinking about this game and was trying to find a way to play it through a browser on my phone and seen it was on the App Store. It works pretty well for a phone port but my only complaint is the tilt buttons are easily hit unintentionally do to how you use the slappers. Overall tho it’s a great throwback and a fun game, if you played this on your grandmas computer while she babysat you when you were little like I did, you will have a fun time playing it. This definitely brings me back! Love it!

The Nostalgia

Loved playing this in my Windows Millenium desktop computer. It’s so nostalgic. I wish the screen was tilted vertically instead of horizontally. It would allow for the pinball machine to be bigger. It’s too small. I also wish there were easier controls for the volume and a way to edit the high score name.

Sad to say…. a terrible PC port to iPhone

Space Cadet has always been my fav digital pinball since it came out on Windows years ago. But this is a TERRIBLE port to the iOS landscape. Here is why: 1) The screen is always landscape (longways). It would make more sense to allow player to choose orientation of screen, as larger phones can fit table much better. 2) Cannot name OR save scores. In fact, I had to close the app completely to be able to get out of the score page. 3) No settings of any kind are allowed. 4) The flippers are not very responsive. I should gave listed to the countless bad reviews before wasting my $4 bucks on this. Avoid this App, unless you really, REALLY wanna play Space Cadet again and do not know how to use an emulator.

Can’t save scores
Sun May 05 2024 biels96

Can’t save high score even though it gives you the option. You can’t change the player name or hit ok to save. You can only hit the x to close the score window. Sometimes the bumper doesn’t react to you touching the screen. Overall just like the original game though.

Turn the freaking music off

Being able to not listen to that obnoxious music but still hear the sound effects would be great. Wherever this music is at so many picked is awful to listen to, but then nostalgia comes from listening to the sound effects of the board.
